Just there is a new Kiss Alpha Centauri supposed to be out today, June 15th?

Anyone have any information on the new model?

Also, the w9tech site says to check about Vaporizer compatibility, just wondering if anyone knows if it work on mine (have a Vapor Flask with an SX board, runs variable Watt 5-60 and temp control)?

Thanks!

I took a look at the specs of the box mod and it looks like you should be able to run the AC coils fine in Power/Wattage mode. However, you may not be able to use Temp Control, as the resistance range in TC listed for this mod is 0.05-0.3 ohms and the AC coils are around 0.8 ohms.

The three differences I've noticed when comparing with Version 1...
  1. Adjustable airflow replaced with open airflow and cooling fins.
  2. Shorter mouthpiece.
  3. Mouthpiece fits over 3 O-rings instead of 510 threading.

Hey friends,

I'm trying to find out the dimensions of the Herc Sr74. I'd really appreciate some info. Thanks.

*** edit ***

Found them, thanks!
In case any one else wanted to know,

My Hercules measures 17mm diameter and 98mm length, which would be about 11/16" wide and about 3 7/8". With the threading included, it's about 101mm or 4".

The Alpha Centauri has been updated with O ring seals and no threading on the cartridge chamber, no airflow adjustment and heat rejection fins have been added, and the dual coil is a hair wider and a bunch deeper than the earlier coils. Essentially, it's the newer version that comes on the Omicron V4, plus all 3 coils that've made up the AC kit since the beginning. It's cross compatible with all previous AC accessories and heaters.

If your Vapor Flask can handle down to 0.6Ω heating elements the AC will likely fire on it fine in wattage or power mode. Temperature control depends if you can regulate the power in TC also (many devices don't allow for power to be limited in TC mode, not sure about yours) and input the proper TCR settings for Grade 2 titanium. (The 1701 can't be temp controlled accurately with existing e-cig devices.)

One last thing,

All orders $30 and more from www.w9tech.com are shipping with a free vaporizer gift. It might be a Minicron, it could be a slim Vaporizer pen, it might be an Omega... Gifts depend on the order placed, and what we have on hand; this is a limited time offer that will expire once our older vaporizers run out :)

Well there is the oil 'buffer' which I really don't think you want to vape in to. So in that sense there is always an up front investment of oil into the Herc that you won't truly consume.

Other than the buffer though I feel like the Herc is quite conservative if that's how you choose to use it. The issue I find with the Herc is that due to its capabilities it encourages people to take huge hits. This gets particularly bad when using the Nibbler XL because you can take monster pulls that hit extremely smooth. You can sip on the thing for days if you want but that takes personal discipline hah.

I recall a friend's bachelor party where we had the Herc going strong for a full day in lightsaber mode with double 18650s on the old v2 Persei. The thing was just a cauldron of molten oil with people throwing chunks of shatter into it like putting logs on the fire all night.
Couldn't agree more on the herc being conservative, I don't think any material is wasted. The buffer can be annoying to fill back up after cleaning. I am one of those people that does huge rips and keeps saying just one more hit and goes through all my oil though. I have terrible self control with the herc, it's so easy to toss more in and go to town on it.

Just got my nibbler xl in the mail and have a concern.

It appears to be so loose when I put it on that if I were to tip it upside down it could slide off the orings by itself It also has substantial wiggle room and the top oring does not make contact with the glass , is this normal?

The nibbler xl should come with two sets of o rings in 2 different sizes you should double check witch ones your using and try the larger set to see if that fixes this issue

Seems like that part of the XL should be made from glass tubing that is a uniform size....I wouldn't expect that sort of fit from a piece of this price range. What's up with your glassmakers @THC SCIENTIFIC ?

From my personal experience glass always has at least some minor variance. If you search this thread you can see that others have reported this issue with the Nibbler XL in the past but not in quite some time. My guess is this is why the supplied o-rings come in two slightly different sizes.

The o-ring on the Nibbler XL specific Hercules top cap is the only one that really matters. Try all the supplied o-rings to see if you can get a good seal. I also recommend lubing the o-rings with a little vaseline or e-juice if you have it.

I also tend to loose these damn o-rings all the time. This is the o-ring I am currently using for my Nibbler XL and the seal is great.

Thanks for the reply Sam! Vapes with this SX350j board fire down to 0.05 in TC mode and 0.15 in Power mode. So it is good to know the AC will definitely at least work with my gear Power mode, as my Herc does (though not in TC.)

I'm not fully sure what you mean by "if you can regulate the power in TC also" because my knowledge on how these machines work is limited. My Vape does have a setting for Watts in TC mode, and if I understand you correctly, you mean that the Centauri can be used if the Vape also has a setting for Wattage in TC mode in addition to the Temperature setting (as opposed to Vapes that only can set Temp when in TC mode). So I'm thinking the AC can be used in TC mode, if I have this right.

1. For efficiency the Alpha Centauri is superior since you can easily control your load size by only putting a small amount of extract inside. The Hercules makes it very easy to take Herculean rips which'll throw efficiency right out the window. It is possible to use low power settings and short pulses of power to get wispy vapor if you wish, but IMHO might as well just use a 1701 ceramic donut if that's what you're after.

2. Yes, start low and work your way up. 10-13 watts is the maximum with ~5 second pulses of power. Higher power levels merit shorter pulses of power to prevent overheating.

3. With the full Alpha Centauri kit you do not need to choose since all 3 heaters are included. I'd say that the dual coil is by far the fan favorite, and the 1701 is a contender for terp hunters :). Single coils best advantage is for those who want to be as efficient as possible, other wise the dual coil provides twice the wicking and twice the heating wire to double vapor output for a given temperature.

1. We sell replacement heating elements for the Alpha Centauri and do not provide any support for rebuilding these coils. However, we don't put any solder, glue, or cast-in plastic to prevent you from disassembling and rebuilding these coils if you are an experienced coil builder and wish to do so. You may find the Gen 3 Kiss cart, AC dual coil, or AC 1701 to be to your liking as far as housings go... If you use titanium wire, you'll need to use crimps to attach the resistor coil to non-resistance leads. Pay attention to how the cart is built when you put it back together. The 1701 uses a donut wick (passive) on top of a ceramic donut heater. You rebuild the 1701 by exchanging the ceramic heating element:
but some choose to wrap a wire coil.

2. Nope, you won't burn out the Hercules ceramic rod with long pulses of power, but pulsing is still helpful when used on VW mods so they can send power appropriately as the resistance of the rod changes, and it also allows you to regulate the temperature.

Thanks so much Sam! This was extremely helpful. Good to know that the AC is useful for efficiency by using small amounts at a time. I think I'll pick one up for this purpose.

My only remaining question is this:
I know you don't provide any support for re-building the coils, but if you had to guess, would there be any problem in using Titanium 1 wire to re-build? This is what I have on hand.

Goodness, where has the Herc been all my life? Just came back from a camping trip and was in the mailbox when I got home (I was hoping to have it camping). Thanks to @SamuraiSam and his videos plus other user videos ... thanks to you all as well. It made made for a short learning curve.

Works terrific on cuboid/cuboid mini and to not have the taste of burnt coil is so refreshing.

Glad my impulse VAS was worth it thanks to @PuffItUp and their special last week.

Yes we are nearing completion of the first v6 Persei prototype, we are only waiting for the circuit board from our supplier to get it working.
So @THC SCIENTIFIC can you tell us if this will be a traditional type mod or a side by side? And if it is a side by side design will it have room to work with the Nibbler XL?

Thanks!

I really need to monitor this discussion.

The new Herc is finally what I have been hoping and dreaming for. Next purchase... I think.

I just kind of hate knowing that my search for a perfect pen will be over after I take the plunge.
I guess I wouldn't call the herc a "pen" type vaporizer. Maybe a big felt tip marker mounted to a flashlight with the Persei. Lol . It's really huge in comparison to most carts. My sr71 is one inch shorter than my entire 1400mah Omicron.

@SamuraiSam can you post a pic of ypur 900mah Omicron next to the 510 Herc?

It felt weird to type "Pen", but by finally doing 510 threading properly, it is only a little longer than an Orb XL on a box mod. I think only the heat sink makes it longer.
How long is an Orb XL? I don't like the Orbs. They look ridiculous and are hardly inconspicuous. I love the idea behind ther Herc but @ 4 inches for just the cart it really needs a nice side by side mod to make it discreet or even pocketable without taking it off the mod first.
@thcscientific I picture a side by side mod with a base that slides out of the bottom on the side so the distance that the cart sits away from the body of the mod can be adjusted. This would allow a mod that the Hercules can be used close to the mod to be pocketable and slide out for Nibbler mode. Any thoughts?

While patiently awaiting the new Persei...

I find this to be my stealthiest Herc move lately.
