Yocan Nyx Atomizer

Received a nyx unit a few weeks ago. Hits really well, great job yocan. Like the placement of the airholes in the bowl, the carb is a great idea. Would be great if you made the top of the unit threaded for easier cleaning (and less messy glue!) and put the carb hole facing towards to other side in the next generation.

One thing i've noticed it there is some splatter flying up through the mouthpiece, also onto the carb, making the button a little sticky.

I put a small square of tissue over and a little in the mouthpiece and fired at 18W (eleaf istick30w). Waited for a couple seconds before drawing very lightly on the mouthpiece before clearing with a medium draw after depressing the carb. Had a couple droplets of wax on the tissue. Tried pulsing and releasing the button and then clearing with the carb with a medium pull, a little better but still had droplets. Am i doing something wrong or is this unavoidable? Most of the other units i have used in the past have coils that have the cap or capped end on the mouthpiece with the hole on the sides to prevent this so I never really noticed this issue.. Material used was shatter consistency.

Overall i really like the unit. If there's any way you guys on the forum have figured out to not have the splatter in mouth/down lungs happen, any advice would be much appreciated. I get that we're breathing in fumes anyway but, would like to keep it at a minimum, lol. Thanks for reading my long post!

Regards,
J

Through the mouthpiece into your mouth? Wow, how much are you loading?

FWIW, I heard the Nyx 2 will have a cap for the coil.

Don't wait to inhale. That is just asking for splatter.

I received the ceramic donut coils I ordered off eBay. I gotta say the flavor is super impressive.

The most flavorful concentrate hits I've ever had.

Period.

You can clearly see the element inside the ceramic once it heats up, so not super advanced, but very effective.
I've only tried it at 12W, box says 15-25W just like the QDC. Same box actually, different check box.
It may be terrible at the recommended wattage, I don't know. It's amazing at lower power, so I have no need.

This may be as good as it gets without going to an all glass unit, with a more advanced heating element...
For my needs I am setup for a long time with the 5 pack I just got, hopefully.

Not sure how much I can say since I was asked no pics this time but the new coils for the NYX are very sweet. I can confirm the cap for the coil.

I've never had any splatter come through the mouthpiece but I can say with the new NYX coils you won't have that problem anymore. I also "pre-melt" what I load while I don't pack it full and try to keep it rolled into a ball. I dab at low temps and low watts and don't draw real fast. I have found that keeps splatter down a whole bunch. I watch people over and over who dab a big ole glob and just suck half their wax down their drop downs with their "power lung" cloud chasing hits.

I have to admit that I wasn't super keen on the Nyx when I first got it. But after a bit it does hit harder than the Evolve Plus does. I like them both equally now.

Got mine with the ceramic donuts last week....so far I love it - I always love them when they are new....I hope it doesnt leak or splatter too much but so far I like it alot with my 40 W eleaf.

I was a little surprised it didnt have the screw on cap that the evolves have. Not sure it is needed and I occasionally leave it off the evolve anyway. Bowl is surprisingly deep and a little hard to load with sticky stuff.

Not sure what I can or can't say on this but they are working on it ( I'm staring at it lol). Freeze your sticky for a few mins then load it. I just bought a wine fridge to store my concentrates.

Pretty happy with the NYX still - I do get seepage through the vent holes and I notice it is clogged often and needs to melt things a bit to clear the airflow. Is there any good trick for cleaning the air holes?

I also tried the dual coil atty - no comparison to the taste of the ceramic donuts IMO>

Got myself a good quantity of wax and starting a new job next week. I definitely want to pick up some donuts when i can.

I recently purchased my current model NYX from a vendor on ebay who deals directly with Yocan and is offering NYX's with coil caps, for both their QDC and ceramic donut coils, and all I can say after accidentally forgetting to put the coil back on once is the cap DEFINITELY improves upon the design; no splashback whatsoever, with various sized loads.

I don't remember if this is against the rules or not, so mods please feel free to remove this if it violates anything, but the vendor's ebay profile was milehighsupplies, and they also have a website. The owner was beyond friendly and courteous and professional in our communications both before and after the purchase. I honestly don't think I could recommend an ebay seller any more highly than these guys based on the three orders I've now made with them.

But I just wanted to make a quick post to let you all know that current NYX models (not the NYX2) and replacement coils ARE INDEED available with coil caps. And they make what I think is a great product even better!

I can't edit my post, and I forget if it's against the rules to post twice in a row, but I just wanted to share a few photos I just of the coil caps for the sake of comparison. I'm posting from my phone right now so I just uploaded them to imgur with their app:

edit:forgot to mention in the imgur post, that is a ceramic donut coil on the battery in the photo showing off the threading on the coil. The QDC's appear similar, same cap, but with the QDC instead.

@Yocantech any updates for the release of Nyx2 with coil cap and Titanium coils?
@waxdab23 Yes, the NYX II released now, we upgraded three points :

1.AirFlow Button-use a new thick&solid button,your fingers will feel soft and smooth

2.Coils - add a round coils cap to prevent wax sputtering, there is a 3mm small hole in the middle of coils cap, because the mouthpiece located in the upper right, so the wax can't sputter into the mouthpiece.

3.Mouthpiece - remove the middle tube which under the mouthpiece

Excellent.

Will these have Titanium wire coils so that we can use temperature control?

Edit: Also, where can the Nyx II and additional coils be purchased?

Just got a nix trough a german ebay seller.

I also have a cuboid MOD

What settings are best to use? VW mode or TC? If VW, what is the best Wattage to use, if TC, what is the best wire we must choose, temp and if known TCR?

Sorry for back to back post, my previous post was days ago...

I believe that there are no more original NYX left in stock.
There are no "NYX 2" markings on the new product.
All NYX coils aout now are the second version.
You may find a seller or 2 on Ebay that have a couple of the originals in stock, but they move out fast...
and the newer NYX is all that is generally being sold now.

Hi Vito,
Do you know if the new coils fit the old NYX?
