I get about 3-4 good sessions out of my crafty, I usually vape full bowls now a days, so 10+ hits per session, I also run at max temps.

So it comes down to 1/1,5 bar of the battery indictor for each bowl/session?
3 good sessions out of 1 fully charged battery is basically the same as the air.
How long does charging take on average?
Taking 2 hours for a almost full charge, somehow I expected better :S

Couple hours later I heated the first bowl up to 185C, took like 4 nice hits max,
I look at the battery indicator at my phone and I'm like wtf?
3 bars gone already? So I was like maybe I didn't charge it max.
So I turn it off, and charge again.
On my phone it was going from 2 to 3 bars charging till suddenly in a couple of minutes it was solid blue again.
I put it on again, and the indicator was max again. I heated the same bowl up to 200C, vaped the remainders for 4/5 mins max (didnt get much out of this compared with the air, even though the herb still remains greenish not the brown almost burned herb with the air), and already 1 bar gone again? this cant be good, right?
btw that first bowl got me way more f*cked up than the air would
I own a Mighty & Crafty because I wanted to see the differences between the two , besides one being larger & better battery there isn't much difference. The Crafty gets hotter to hold & can't handle high temps repeatedly I've found. The Mighty handles high temps with ease without getting too hot either. It's much easier having a Crafty for out and about. The app seems to work well and I've been getting 3 bowls (10 mins) before charging the crafty at two bars. ( I don't like to let it go flat)

Based on stories here and Mighty thread, there are a lot of folks who've had Crafty and migrated to Mighty, with far less making a switch the other way around.
Both work very, very well, to be sure. Since Feb. '15 I've had three Crafty's now a Mighty. The differences have been discussed a lot, but I'll list a couple.
Mighty's two batteries charge faster than Crafty's one because Crafty uses usb at 5V/2A and Mighty uses 12V/3A. Then Mighty delivers at least twice as many bowls per charge.
Mighty reaches temp (approx 1 min 40sec for +160C lift) faster than Crafty (over 2 minutes for same).
Mighty doesn't get as hot as fast, since the load is shared by two batteries.
Mighty handles back to back sessions (even very hot ones) better; Crafty will overheat and shut down sometimes and I have not seen that with the Mighty.
A single battery replacement in Crafty costs $70 US. Changing the two in Mighty costs $90, but those two will last twice as long a Crafty's one.
It also seems that Mighty's need repair/return less frequently.
The main thing Crafty has over Mighty is size and it can stand up unassisted
I am obviously biased, don't get me wrong I love the Crafty too. It seems that folks here generally think that Mighty's suit heavy users better. Lighter or occasional use would be ideal for a Crafty, imo.
Lately some owners of new Crafty's are saying they may be getting more bowls/charge. I think S&B makes rolling changes to circuitry and/or software, so things are likely improving on that score.
Plus we've got Crafty legends like @Vambo1980 who has achieved over 500 hours on his Crafty with some knowledge and fine soldering skills! vape on, dude!

but the battery goes down (too) quickly
is it a good idea to charge between sessions? supposed to be bad for lithium batteries, not sure if it also applies to the crafty battery?
or is it better to drain battery each time halfway/completely and charge then?
why (did) you have 3 crafty's? did 2 broke down or something?

Each of the three eventually failed and each was covered under warranty. I think the oldest was 4 months, with approx. 135 hrs on it. When I sent the third in, I asked for upgrade to Mighty, which they allowed me; I just paid the difference in retail price. This kind of warranty upgrade is primarily available only if you are making a valid Crafty warranty claim.
I'm a pretty heavy user (plus a wife on same device!) and found that the Crafty single battery could not keep up the pace, so I was always putting it on the charger, which may have contributed to demise(s). Mighty has no problem keeping up, and can function as a quasi plug-in, too.
You're in for a nice ride as it is, and IF your Crafty runs into trouble, you can think about the change then.

My opening method is another one of these strategies - helps me steady things as I pry.
Posted before, but idea is to hold capsule with one hand, pry lid with thumbnail of other hand.
Real trick is holding the capsule firmly without bending it.
Picture holding a pencil with your left hand, pointing straight up.
Your index finger curls around and thumb holds from opposing side.
This surrounding hold seems to more evenly distribute holding pressure around the capsule.
Pry lid straight up with right thumbnail, while right index finger steadies lid from above.
It will pry open like it has an invisible hinge in the rear.
Important point:
If first pry attempt does not succeed, just rotate capsule and try in a different spot.
A subtle bend in lid or base can unexpectedly provide good pry spots.
Rotate, pry until it gives way.
New capsules are the worst.
Your holding left thumb will invariably over-press, just as the lid gives way.
Poor capsule is weakest when lid is removed. Base will bend in.
It will happen. Shape it back.
However, a capsule with a repaired bend can become easier to open later.
One FC member took me up on my free four capsule offer.

While I was making the video I thinknow the walls slightly bent in making it free faster than usual.
My first attempt I pushed a safety pin through to open it and punctured the lid of the cap.
I also experimented with eye glass screwdrivers.
BUT being that they aren't that easy to loose I've been using the same set and each time it only gets easier.

Now five sets left.
On load sizes: tried being frugal with 100mg capsule loads. I really tried.
Pain for me to fluffy load it almost to rim to aim for 100mg.
Got lazy, just fill them now without packing.
Weigh bunch, n, together, divide by n, subtract empty weight of 360mg.
Been averaging 130mg. Quite a bit less than my usual 180mg stock Crafty load.
That's nice, but you can use other methods to vape small amounts.
For me, the advantage of capsules is the ease of use and neatness.
And a sense of daily dosage "control," if that makes sense.
And they're just fun.
Avoid fine grind. My medicated math estimate:
air speeds up almost six times faster as it passes through holes in capsule.
Tiny lightweight particles near lid will be sucked through one of the 33 holes.
So don't forget to brush off CU screen

The lids stick in the basket if you push the capsule in upsidedown.
Simples.
That was how my set was delivered so assume it's the correct method.
No screwdrivers, prying, pulling or thumbnails required.
My lids are all nice and lose and am using the same undented set that came with my basket.
I also have an unpoened pack of forty capsules and will happily post some samples out to any European Crafty owners. PM me if you're interested.

'Quasi plug-in' is just a term I used for it. S&B says you can use Mighty plugged in even when the batteries are depleted. But it does not have what's referred to as true pass-thru charging. A pass thru piece can both operate as device and charge battery at the same time.
If you plug Mighty in and turn it on when it's down a bar or two, you can see that the bars stay on (not blinking) until temp is reached (battery is being depleted by use), then bars begin to blink, charging only in-between the pulses of heat that keep Mighty in proper temp range. On balance, the charging goes faster than the depletion, so eventually all the bars look full.
If you use Mighty plugged in while it's already fully charged, you don't even see a bar disappear or any blinking, it seems to ride right near a topped off level. I think it is still cycling between heat and charge, but not enough differential to makes lights say anything more than "I'm full!"
One user was told by S&B rep that this plugged in use while fully charged is a good practice.
Other battery-heads seem to recommend that these batteries like to be maintained between about 20% and 80%. In Crafty, that would take a lot of user attention and given what I already said about Crafty not keeping up with my use, I abandoned most 'good practice' about charging. Not that I'm an angel with Mighty, I tend to keep it plugged in a lot, and use it plugged in about 70% of the time.
btw, I don't think my charging habits had much, if anything, to do with the eventual failures of my Crafty's.
Now I've talked down the Crafty too much here and it's not the Mighty thread so I'll stop.
Sorry to bring on the buyer's remorse there, @dusdat . Or is it just a subset case of VAS? Some folks just have both Crafty and Mighty!
Idk what your chance of exchange is, gut feeling is that your better option may come on a warranty exchange. I once asked about upgrade and they only offered a $100 discount on Mighty if I wanted to exchange my 4 month old Crafty that needed a battery. I chose to replace the battery for 50 bucks (that's gone up). Or possibly selling Crafty privately. There is a classified 'thread' here at FC.
Meantime, enjoy the ride, these thing work great!
Edit: I just noticed @dusdat that your purchase was from Amazon. I have no idea what your return or exchange options might be!

finally tried mighty c/u on crafty
..i dont think the taste is better but it definately seems to last longer in mouth (..it could be me)
and its cooler
so very happy i got it
..on a side note - as mouthpiece now sticks out more - it has better beard penetrating abilities

This reminds me -- have you ever tried screwing on Crafty's stock c/u so the mouthpiece projects off the opposite side from usual? This might also help with beard penetration? Nice change of pace...

Sorry for the slow reply..i'm kinda new at conversing on FC.. I don't know what model the soft case is...i'd suggest that you go to a camera shop or electronic store and look at their small soft camera cases. The one I use fits the Crafty and there is a little extra room in th case...of course you can get any size you want if you want to carry extras.....
