Discontinued The Grasshopper

Some updated random thoughts from one day's use...
  • This is a seriously powerful device, hard to believe this isn't a desktop and that it doesn't require the brute force of torch flame to reach this level of power (from a battery!)
  • I love holding it, I just want to walk around with it in my hand, it's so cute and tiny. The most "portable" vape I've owned yet.
  • I like the body heat, in the winter I think it'll warm your hands as you use it
  • The vapor is a bit harsh even as low as 3, irritates my throat just a bit, need to have a beverage on hand if using dry at high temps. Reminds me of the Pinnacle Pro on higher setting.
  • I really wish there was an integrated pick for dislodging ABV (I don't really like having to unscrew the back to use the clip and it's a bit large anyway).
  • The battery life is not a delighter, it just about squeaks by and almost everyone will need to keep extras charged up and ready. Just 30% more battery life and I think it approaches what's needed, I get approx 3 loads per batt right now.
  • Excellent convection extraction, very evenly browned ABV, very impressed with this.
  • Also very impressed with how little material you need to use to get great clouds and effect. This is a VERY efficient vape.
  • Nice vape signature, for me it seems some small % conduction effect in a nice way.
  • This feels like 00420 James Bond's vape he got from Q for a secret mission in Holland to thwart Hydro's newest boss, Weedfinger.
EDIT: I'd like to rig something in the GH bowl similar to the Supreme's bowl screen as a way to pull out ABV more easily. Just not sure where to get the right kind of steel wire.

I doubt it could be done. The GH will not be easy to cheaply "knock off" in either form or function....the GH was constructed and performs too well to be easily replicated.
That's the thing about knockoffs, they don't come close to the performance of the real thing. I would think it would be easy to make a shitty knockoff of the Grasshopper. Aluminum body, ceramic oven, and a 14650 battery. The most important aspect of a knockoff is that it looks like the original, and then usually it is built as cheaply and minimally functional as possible.

Almost everything is being counterfeited these days so it really pays to be careful.

My theory is that the gh is so effective in what it does he was so medicated his normal persona was subdued (just like me). The gh imo imparts the effects very similar to smoking because the heater is so powerful the active ingredients are simultaneously released as the temperature is reached quicker rather than a prolonged building up of temperature slowly releasing different compounds at different temps.
The GH will release more vapour at a time than most other (portable) devices. When you inhale really huge amounts of vapour per each toke, your alveoles absorb the thc at highest capacity, and while this may not be the most efficient way to transport thc into your system (you will exhale of course more unused vapour compared to taking manier, very small tokes over a longer period), it's definitely the most effective, and hey, the brain likes effectiveness more. So, as with all drugs (best known example: crack vs. powder cocaine) a faster absorption will make for a more intense experience.

I like the body heat, in the winter I think it'll warm your hands as you use it
Problem might be that low temperatures may seriously limit the battery capacity. So you may want to keep it close to your body and not let it cool out.

Well, got my dark gray titanium and been grasshopping for a few days now (yay) and it's really working for me. I don't have much in the way of novel things to add to all the reviews, but I will say that the power, heat up time, and ease of use are great, and even the battery life is good for my style of vaping. I am pretty fine with the heat of the mouthpiece as well, even at max temp after bunches of hits (I mean it's hot, but tolerable to me). I need to experiment more with temps because I used it first with my brother-in-law and I suggested temp 3 to start, and he was like "nah, max temp" (he mostly smokes), so I've just been using it that way since. As a smoker who owns a Pax 2 that's collecting dust, he was impressed. My only real negative is that the auto-shutoff feature activates easily, so I repeatedly have to click twice to get it going again, and even though the heat up time is so fast that it's nbd, I don't want to strain the clicker mechanism -- a minor complaint, overall, and I've been trying to adapt the way I inhale to avert the shutoff. Just hoping it doesn't decide to stop working because I'm already getting attached to this very convenient little device (and I feel like talking about it will jinx it somehow). Excited for summer grasshopper adventures to come!

If the battery is empty, the flashing red light on GH, the battery still has 3.8 V of 4.2 V.

Am I wrong, or use the GH only half of the battery capacity?

In my batteries for steaming, the batteries are used to 3.4 V down

  • I really wish there was an integrated pick for dislodging ABV (I don't really like having to unscrew the back to use the clip and it's a bit large anyway).

It would be cool if the clip would be removed separately.

The abv out of my GH trips me out. It comes out so light I keep thinking it has to not be fully extracted, so I'll put it back in and hit it. Get nothing. Take it out and stare at it. It's kind of amazing. I've tried putting it in my vapcap and I can get a bit of vapor out of it with the highest temp hit I'll risk on it, but the vapor seemed pretty inert, felt like it was basically spent already. Unless I put in like a half pack bowl. Gets it nice and toasty brown then.

I was thinking of scrunching up some of this to make a dab pad:

I'm sure you could make a hopper chamber screen for easy avb removal.

Not sure if it won't prove to be more trouble than its worth but if you are going to do it the 50u stainless steel mesh seems like the way to go.

Sooooo my heart dropped for a sec this morning when it seemed that a fully charged, according to my nightcore, battery was not performing well and was giving very light vapor...this is after a week of amazing performance so it was easy for me to tell the drop in production. I swapped batteries to another fully charged battery and it seemed to work like normal again...phew. For now. I'll keep my eye on it but was wondering if anyone else has experinced varying degrees of power with different batteries..perhaps not all hopper batteries were created equal?

Also the back end does seem to be getting a lil hotter than the first week so perhaps I'm not out of the woods yet but we will see maybe it's a right of passage for all GH owners to have at least one warranty...I truly hope this is not the case:/

Wow, my AVB comes out a nice even mid-dark brown...kinda dirt colored....without having to work at it.

What temp are you running your GH at?

Max temp. Mine comes out that kind of brown when I put a bit more in there, but normally I'm only putting in enough to cover the screen

Just enough to cover the screen?? That ain't much. I have run with 1/2 chamber and full and it works ok, but never just a sprinkling to cover the screen.

I wonder with that little amount of product if when vaping it doesn't fall to the side and allow most of the hot air flow to by-pass your herb.

Even full is only a .15 of fine ground in mine (depending on strain maybe it goes up to .2 but I haven't been able to get that in it yet).

I'm using amounts that are basically the same as I used in my vapcap. I would use a half full bowl on it and it equals to just a tiny pinch in the grasshopper. I am somewhat paranoid that it isn't extracting completely but putting it through my vapcap only produces a small amount of vapor which makes sense as it's a manual butane vap and I'm sure it gets up to at least 415 or higher compared to the Grasshoppers 410

It's an obsession but it's pleasin'
Hey! I just pulled a Cosmic 4 piece outta mothballs when I saw a tiny piece missing from my Mighty plastic grinder!!!! I'm lovin' it again. Kind of an older one without the engraved logo, so I'm bummed the original sticker is almost gone...
Enjoy you shiny new one!
If you want to get a shiny new Cosmic with an engraved logo, EZVapes just announced their 15% off summer sale. I don't work for 'em. Just thought I'd pass it along. Hope that doesn't break any rules.

Ah, it's not going to work, I tried to rig a Supreme-style screen with some twist-tie wire, it bends to the shape I want fine, but with the MP on, there isn't enough clearance for the handle without it getting caught in the upper screen. Have to think on this one. I wish you could cock it like a pistol and have it eject the ABV.

BTW, I just used the damn thing sitting in a carrel at the public library. Temp 2 small clouds, nobody around, but I feel dirty.

This is about the amount I use generally in a go. Some spent and fresh for comparison. Actually is lighter than it seems in photo, but it seems pretty thoroughly extracted.

Stay charged, my friends
I tried the grasshopper with concentrates for the first time the other day. I placed a small dab of a crumble-type wax into a piece of organic cotton ball, rolled it into a cylinder and stuffed into the hopper. I left a little poking out at the top for easy removal.

Two observations:

- Similar to when the chamber is full with herb, the cotton seems to have a cooling effect on the vapour. I can hit it on setting 4 without irritation.
- Holy, this thing rips with concentrate! I get a number of fulfilling hits on a small dab.

This vape is so versatile! I'm going to be using one of my hoppers (Ti has yet to come) as a concentrate rig full time.

Go ahead and try it!! I'd be interested in the experience of others.

Vapes on vapes on vapes!
So I sent in my unit for warranty service a few weeks ago because the back end was getting hot and it wasn't performing as well. I just got it back and it is behaving the same way. I've been quite busy lately, so I haven't been keeping up, but does a hot backend still indicate an issue? In order to fully spend a bowl it seems I have to crank it up to max and the back end gets VERY hot. I could try different loading techniques though too.

Edit: Looks like it may have been an issue with one specific battery or my pack, things are working well now, but I'll keep my eye on battery behavior. Currently getting good rips

I found a lether case , from an old pencil of me. The GH fit.
There ist a magnet to close the case. Is this maybe a problem for the GH? I don't want to have trouble.

This is happening to me unfortunately...thought it was the battery as per earlier post...but looking like it may be the unit. It worked unbelievably the first week (several times a day of consistent production) which is how I know it is not the same..I haven't changed anything either and I use it native. Did they replace anything or just send the same unit back? Did they mention what may have been the issue?

Exactly what I want to avoid...perpetual warranty abyss..ugh

I agree with this! My back up SS should arrive in the next 7 days. Bought solely to eliminate being in a warranty limbo.

Its so hard to tell from pictures which can distort, and you said it was lighter than appears, but that appears to be pretty good in my book.

Might want to try 3/4 to full oven and see if you get anything different. Just a thought
