The wood mouthpieces and WonGs take on the flavor of the various cannabis favors that you are using.

The wood fills that niche for me when I need a garden vaporizer that is rugged and I don't have to worry about glass. If I drop the Solo along with the stem no problemo.

When you need to clean them use a type of alcohol spirits like rum or your favorite whisky. For a little while the wood takes on that rum or whisky flavor. I use a Q-tip with my WonG. Then I let it dry after. I use beeswax to condition the outside of the wood.

We are all different. I don't know if I would like stainless steel as well.
I think the main problem with a stainless stem would be heat.
It's not a problem with the Haze because the steel inhale tube is separate from the heater chamber.

I feel like some kind of silicone/steel combo could turn out to be the perfect Solo unbreakable tube.

Maybe i can just buy these and pay $10 a piece when i break one instead of 30 from plante vape???

You can already get $10 stems and gongs etc. A standard Solo stem is $10 or less and an Air plastic tipped stem (also a $10 item) will fit a 14mm water tool adapter.

Stainless steel will conduct heat better and therefore get hotter than glass (@OF help me here).

Also, when following the link you provided above, there are adds for fake Solos and Fake Air vapes. That turns me right off.

WOW thank you for the heads up.
I've removed my link
All i did was search "solo 14mm" and there those came up.
sure enough i clicked the seller page and its all fake solo and air.... very sketchy..... will not be doing business with them

edit Doesn the 14mm of the air stem make a good seal? worried about plastic

edit 2 : What size does PVHES Vortex screen use... A friend gave me a VERY gross and nasty one with no screen and told me it was free if i wanted it! i couldnt say no to non broken glass non damaged glass. Should i avoid brass screens for any reason.

Is Eds TNT the only option for a stainless steel solo stem right now? I am with ataniax on the anti-wood flavor thing.
jdraREV.jpg

I am mad however it's my own doing!

Today I will order some STAINLESS for my GonG's & STEM's.
The GLASS mouth piece tip's are ordered.

I need new batteries too!

I love my SOLO however it doesn't love me.

When everything is firing and set-up right it's one of my favorites!

I'm sure WOOD is fine for most?
Maybe I'm over sensitive?

I don't like padded carpet under my feet?

I must be over sensitive then too!!
I bought a 3200mah replacement battery on eBay for my solo....
the battery is dying on me.

If anyone finds a stainless steel GONG for the solo let me know....

I wonder how hot it would get if it were a straight stainless steel tube with a basket screen... What other unbreakable materials would there be? Maybe a full stainless steel with a wooden or leather sleeve. leather would probably be better as it doesn't restrict any sort of metal heat expansion like would might (may crack).

Vortex screens are a bit smaller than regular Solo screens.

The Air stem with the plastic tip makes a good (not excellent IMO) seal. At this point I still have unbroken gongs, but why spend three times more for a bit better seal?

The plastic tip does not have any taste to it, with or without water cooling.

The absolutely best way to clean glass is with PBW (professional brewers wash). Even if you wish to reclaim the reclaim, soak in ethanol first, but to get it sparkling, PBW.

There is a PBW thread, but not sure where.

I got my replacement Solo battery from PV.

A piece of heat shrink tubing protects the glass stem a little bit.
Looks good too in stealth black or can be got in any color.
Would possibly work around a stainless steel tube to stop you from burning fingers?

You couldn't put the tubing around the bowl that goes into the Solo. But, I guess if one is diligent about putting an end cap on as soon as withdrawn from the Solo this may work out be a very good idea.

If glass wasn't so expensive the mouthpiece wouldn't be such an issue. Did anyone have success with the Dhgare glass mouthpieces or GonGs that were suppose to work with the Solo?

The ones I tried were useless, as I said earlier. Thick walled and out of round. One would not even fit. Both had mouths thicker than the walls (excessive 'fire polishing'?).

The best 'lower cost' GonGs I've tried come from PIU. Not as nice as the PVHES version but they work and are half the price. For casual use I still think the Air stem with plastic tops (at ten bucks) are worth considering.

I thought you were the Albert Einstein of vaporizing?

My new unbreable GonG's and STEM with Glass Tips that FLAVOR is not effected!
Swelling not a issue either.

The year is 2016?
Not 1875?

Glass?

They will work.
So glad it's for me and not the masses!

The charger for my solo broke. What's a good replacement for it? A lot of places seem to have solo chargers out of stock.

I used a charger with changeable voltage and different pins to switch. Was about 10€ cheaper than a classic Solo cable. Also I got a 2012 Solo Model and by turning the voltage to 9 it allows me to heat with pass through.

I need to replace the bottom plate (cover) it's cracked.
I was thinking to make a Aluminum one?
Does @Pipes still make them?

Finally I will have a rebuilt unit and unbreakable parts for my SOLO.

It will be back in rotation.
replacement bottom unit im shocked nobody has made them yet.
after all these years.

i searched the thread and saw a confederate flag guy say he would try to laser cut out some bottom plates. but i guess nothing happened of it.

My buddy has a machine shop.
I take it to him and make a copy.
Paint I can do myself?
I could have it powder coated?

My Garden will need some work in 4 months time. (looking OK for summer)
To have a powerful SOLO in the garden is:

Lots of folks have cracked plates for sure. I have a new type loaner that's been out twice. and 'passed around a bit' no doubt, but never disassembled. I took the battery out to test it the other day and noticed two cracks........

AFAIK nobody (and that includes Pipes) makes a replacement base plate. As we've discussed before, the base plate is the basic chassis for the unit. The boards screw to it, as does the oven. More over, it carries the serial number, which while optional becomes mandatory once the maker puts it on. Fun rule. Except for a few things like guns and cars, serial numbers are not required by law. But if they are there from the maker (even if he doesn't really track them) it's 'prima facie' evidence it's stolen. Even if it's yours legally and you remove it. I seriously doubt anyone cares, but if the cops really wanted you..........

I think Pipes still sells kits of backup washers and screws......I hope he still does, I can't find my stash of tiny SS hardware......

Anyway Aluminum would work OK if it was something like 6061 T6 would do it if thick enough:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6061_aluminium_alloy

It has to be hard to work, 20XX, 30XX and such won't cut it. Too soft. That alloy is a 'Precipitation hardening' affair where material properties can be controlled by 'heat treating' like with carbon steels. Airplanes live on the stuff. T6 is a standard 'machinable' heat treatment that can be used 'raw' (without further treatment or finish), although (caustic etch and) black anodize would be cheap and a great finish, local shops should be able to finish a few for you for a sixer of Dos XX if you ask nice.

Better, I think, would be Stainless Steel. It could be made thinner that way and remain strong enough.

In either case it should be a simple plate over the existing base I think. And I'd seriously consider doing 'counterbored' (flat bottom) holes rather than the countersink Arizer used. I think 'wedge action' on the countersinks does the damage in many/most cases. It could even be two thin plates glued together?

Good luck with it. Hopefully it'll be a CNC adventure (Computer controlled) so once you get it right you can whomp up a bunch for your friends?
