I have had the Purple Haze and liked it. I work in retail so we have reps come in with sample bottles. I'm fortunate to have tried things I wouldn't normally buy.

Its funny u mentioned founders rubaeus @Mr Mellish I actually just gave it a try today! It's a quite sweet but enjoyable for one or two.

I was having two beers on a break from work with a co worker the other day and we tried lagunitas aunt sally and 21 st amendment hell or high watermelon. Both turned out to be great choices! After the hell or high watermelon the bartender recommended us to try a Watermelon Dorado from Ballast Point. This is a 10% double ipa that so smooth and tasty it could be dangerous!!

@BD9 La Fin is a great beer my best friend says its his go to brew. I really enjoyed the La Résolution from Unibroue. They are another brewery that has never disappointed my taste.

Hey @Philreal187 , I'm not a fan of fruit in my beers but enjoy Rubaeus in small doses.It reminds me of some of the better Belgian framboise. I can tell you that a growler of the stuff taps a price point that will get your attention in a bad way.

I'm going to have to try the Watermelon Dorado. Someone I trust wasn't too fond of it but thanks for an alternative viewpoint.

Just bought a single of Turbodog today. I think this is my first Abita. What was weird about it?

Had the turbodog earlier. I liked it. Reminds of the doppelbock style but with half the booze. Looking forward to trying more English brown ales. I'd also like to do a direct comparison between Newcastle and Brooklyn brewery brown ales. Needless to say, I'm a malt guy heh.

Ahhhhhhhhh...... the amazing but rare (outside of VT, anyway) Heady Topper. And, there truly is no place better to enjoy a tasty IPA from a can than floating. Only one outing for me this year unfortunately - things are just too damned busy. Wonder if I've ever been on that stretch of river. Loving your advanced positioning, too. One of my favorite kayaking stances. I'll be tipping a pint to you and your ultra-cool self tonight @Philreal187 !

Irrelevant trivia... This is where my screen name comes from. A bastardization of float (as in a kayak) and toke (as in to hit the cheeba).

@z9 Its a winning combo for sure. Two hearted tall cans in my go to budget beer for the river! The fish on the label was proof to me its meant for water adventures!! And no venture is ever complete without the trusty sidekick vapman!! :tup:

@flotntoke When I was in vt this spring I was googling local beer found out topper has a cult following and 99% rating on BA so I had to pick up a case! I agree IPA's on the river is match made perfect, especially in the lazy boy position :lol: Not sure if that is you neck of the river but I hope you find some free time to get a paddle in before the weather gets too cold. That seems to be the trend. We have several Oktoberfest beers in stock now. Sometimes Oktoberfest beers are released as early as late spring.
We have people asking for them as early as March because they have been to Germany or have read that Bavarian releases come early.
I like educated consumers, they keep me on my toes........Helps me stay better educated.

Fuckin pumpkin beers! Argh! Hope not to offend. A couple of them actually aren't that bad. OK.... yeah they are. But I usually still drink a short one if I find something not too terrible on tap around Halloween.

My biggest gripe about them is they take up valuable tap space between now and Thanksgiving. And, nobody really drinks the shit, so they sit around preventing better beers from coming on sooner. Want to see me really pissed? Come to one of my local watering holes in about 6 weeks when there are two pumpkins on no one really wants to drink - and a nice fresh tasty IPA sixtel is sitting in the cooler on hold until a free tap comes up! As my good duck Daffy would say.. dessssspicable!

I honestly don't think Penn Brewery is anything special at all and have had thousands time better local. But its what I got and the price was free so I'm not arguing with that!!

In regards to pushing seasonal brews too early, I think it definitely takes away from the over all experience when its a few months earlier. I believe this is a problem with all marketing especially seasonal products. With that said I fucking love fall and winter brews and would drink certain pumpkin beers year like flying dogs pumpkin and southern tier pumking. I can understand how they are played out and most are over sweetened dessert beers, but a few definitely keep me buying them. :2c: :cheers:

Stone's 20th Anniversary stuff has been fucking AMAZING IMO. Yeah, I'm a Stone fanboy from way back, and I'll usually try anything I find on tap from them. Also, have a few real favorites and am so into them I can tell the differences in the Enjoy By series - and certainly have my favs. But, I drink plenty of other IPAs, stouts and all kinds of shit depending on my mood.

But, the one I had last night rocked my world! Citracado 20th Anniversary. It's got all kinds of stuff going on in it, and took me almost a full 12 oz pour just to read the label. But, DAMN it was tasty. Lots of citrus, then slides into flowery, then some hard resin, then sweet and fades back to citrus - all on every sip.

Different strokes for different folks and all, but I give this one a solid 4.8 - 4.9 stars out of five, and that's a rarity for me.

If you like citrusy IPAs, look for this bomber (22 oz). Limited release and a bit pricey, but I'm stopping to grab 3 or 4 more before they're gone - if they still have them!!

Of course they called it Citracado... that's the road their original brewery is on, right under the new hospital. Their Enjoy By's are great, I had a lanvender pale ale on tap down there and it was incredibly good for being a pale ale (though not surprised considering it's Stone). Their Delicious IPA is great too!

Had to pick up some brewies on the way home tonight. I've been working a couple strains of IPA the past 6 months or so (Southern Tier IPA and Perpetual IPA by Troegs) and I'm hesitant to break away. I debated 10 minutes between the Southern Tier and Ithaca Flower Power while my daughter anxiously awaited her taco hell dinner (which I very karma-esquely had to wait a good 15 minutes for). Ended up going with the FP. Always delicious, and citrousy, too.

Between my beverage center go-tos and my local brewery go-tos, I'm pretty well covered. I occasionally hit the world of beer style place or bars with year long beer lists, and usually hit on nice ones. But they're generally once and dones. I never remember what the hell I had even though I swear to myself I'll remember. I know I had a Stone IPA recently but can't remember my take on it. Almost picked that over the FP tonight, just for a little adventure. I may have to go deliberately seek out a couple someplace and make up my mind before my next visit to the beer store. I'll definitely keep my eye out for the citricado; thanks for the tip.
