Only just signed up but I've been doing the odd bit of lurking while I wait for my ddave mod and I'm so happy I came across this thread. I'm only on page 2 so far but it's already explained how cannabis helps me better than I can, I was only diagnosed a couple of years ago so I never really had any help growing up and it didn't take me long to realise that standard medication didn't sit that well with me and cannabis really does flip that swith in my brain

@DDave Don't know how I ever missed that post, thanks for all the kind words :)

I did however recently put the finances into Excel, in my own format... had great results... understandable from my perspective and really helped. Sometimes, the way you do something will dictate success or not.

I actually have been doing this too! 2 months now! I also do it with my weed intake, in general, I am a much better at budgeting both trees and money now that I have to "check myself" by writing it down in my book.

Anytime! Hope they helped!

Glad to hear you're budgeting things like $$$ & :leaf:... Helps keep tabs on finances, usage, etc...

Was going to post this in the picture thread, but it's a video. Then on the Strange things you see on fc thread, but it's not from fC. Video thread? Nope. I call uncle!

Do I find this cool because I'm an Aspie? Don't know, but now it applies to this thread so Mission accomplished!

This is pretty cool!

I got 39 on the online test. I'm not gonna worry about it too much. A lot of those symptoms are shared by other mental disorders.
Try the rdos link test, in first few pages of the thread... it's not the score, but the shape that's key...

I don't know how to attach the image. It looks the same as the last time I did it about 4 years ago. All the way out on talent and almost all the way out on perception on the right side of the image. But unless it could be precipitated by a traumatic event I do not think I am an aspie though a lot of the symptoms fit me to a tee. I did not have all of those symptoms as a child for sure though. Some, yes.

Oh, there are 12 pages it printed out....

Where did that info come from homefree? Group score etc and the 12 pages you mention. Don't see that as an option.
I took the test just now and since I have difficulty making sense of visual charts and things like that it is pretty obscure to me. Plus I tried to remember how I felt when I was younger since I'm less aware of those issues now. I think it's my age. I do have ADD and nonverbal learning disorder but neither seems to show up on the test. It just said that I have both neurodiverse and neurotypical communication.

Hey @HomeFree,

Welcome to the thread!

Asperger's is a spectrum condition ranging from just a slight touch of to quite obvious. You can have any mix of what you'll read as indicators or symptoms.

Am responding from a cell, so will keep it brief... where normally I would type quite a verbose response.

For me, I've always been able to fix things.. or see how they work and envision how I could make them work better. And computers, most often can understand them far easier than people.

What skills do you have for which you haven't really had to study or practice to be really good at? And on the flip side, any difficulties that seem to come easier for everyone else?

One of my pet peeves is getting goop on my hands. I avoid it whenever possible. But yet I refuse to wear gloves as I can't 'feel' anything I'm working on...

It's quite an adventure for me, but once I made the discovery that I was indeed one, I found two things out.. there was a reason for how I felt growing up, it explained quite a bit... and it gave me areas to focus on for things I was able to do quite well.

@jimfish4130

That is one of the most balanced graph results I've ever seen.

Curious on the Neurotypical spike in communications. How are you at keeping up with verbal and non verbal queues during a conversation. Especially one on one where pauses or speaking over someone is very easily noticable.

The communications spike surprised me as I find interacting with people pretty difficult and I can barely hold a conversation to save my life. Most of the time I give one word or short replies and miss my turn to speak

The skills that come naturally to me in a major way have been work in laboratories. I also like things that are mechanical, like real old cars. I like photography too, that came to me easy before the automated point and shoot ones. I don't care for computers myself, have not been too good at them over the past ten years or so. I was pretty good when they were new though, but younger so my mind was more flexible.

So for the past 20 years I have been working in labs, in totally different sectors that have nothing to do with each other starting on the ground floor (with a broom and mop). All with one year of very basic chemistry that I essentially flunked. Anything with numbers. And I enjoy it as well. Like you I do not like wearing gloves (so often carefully go gloveless) and I do wash my hands fairly frequently but not to the point where they are bleeding or anything like that. ALWAYS big time before preparing and eating food. I am not the cleanest guy but I am really weird about food cleanliness.

Lots of stuff come easier for other people, especially stuff like sales. I am bad at trying to sell ANYTHING.

I will look over the instructions for attaching a jpeg, but I can't seem to turn the image into one.

That is surprising. If you take a look a my chart, my communication score is non-existent and it is quite a challenge for me to catch queues of when someone is done talking or when I should start once they finish.

It's taken a lot of work to get closer to a smooth conversation.

One day I'd like to talk one on one with an Aspie close to my chart specs just to see if the issues I experience would not be present or would be much worse.

Good that you have focus of what you like and what you're good at. Lab work, that would be awesome! Though not sure if that is my idea of what lab work would be like or what it really is.

Yep, the hand washing sometimes is what I think I try to avoid more than the goop. Had to use chain lube on slide rail and motor today. That was 2pm and I have washed hands a few times since, showered, and I swear I can still smell it... though my wife says I'm nuts.

I'm just now finding out I might not be bipolar--quite possibly Asperger's--my mood swings if I really think about it are usually triggered by something (and they are easily triggered due to my poor EQ--Emotional Intelligence--and my poor self image from year's of trying to fit in and not, and struggling through life and relationships always thinking it's my fault ... if only I'd try harder ...)

I'm working towards an actual diagnosis, but it will be a long enough road.

At this point though, after reading many, many blog posts, articles, watching youtube videos, reading 3 books on the subject, and doing all the online quizzes I could think of as well as discussing with my Dr., I'm pretty sure its the right diagnosis.

Here's my results:

Your neurodiverse (Aspie) score: 135 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 61 of 200
You are very likely neurodiverse (Aspie)

Hey friend,

The self esteem and mood swings issues.... been there... Still working on the mood swings! It's not so great to be cruising through a day, perfectly content... then bam! Hit one of the triggers and see red! You know what I mean?

Any issues seeing from someone else's perspective? That was an eye opener for me! Seems obvious that I should have considered the person I was with may have seen something differently, but I just didn't. I had already worked it all out in my mind, it was completely logical (to me), so then why shouldn't the person I was with have done the same and come to the same conclusions... ? So, once I focused on looking at things as others may, or at least considering others had a different way of seeing things, a lot of stuff became much easier.

Definitely a journey, that's for sure. Glad you've got an area to focus on now.

Hey, in regards to the herb... Have you tried microdosing and maintaining a level of just enough elevation so your mind quiets down and stops racing? It's a fine line but I found it more productive then being heavily medicated at all times...

Yes, can definitely relate; I think awareness will help with this (I hope! ...)

Again, definitely. Even tonight I had a discussion with my wife over our cleaning lady and seems that what I think would be a reasonable conversation to have with her as she hasn't been doing what has been asked (more than once); seems what I think is reasonable would likely be way too harsh! Only thing is I'd have a real hard time actually having this conversation anyways ...!

I have a hard time moderating anything ... so microdosing in theory is a great idea, however, in practice, not so easy for me to achieve. My main concern is avoiding alcohol, and cannabis helps with that as well (I can worry about perhaps moderating my cannabis usage once I learn to moderate and manage other areas of my life ... my vaping is the one "constant" for me ... doesn't go up or down and doesn't seem to cause any issues of concern ...)

hello the room...

regular bouts of self-condemnation over having to use cannabis to be "normal"-ish, which leads to more stress, etc.

I'm starting my second round of RSO 1 gram a day - when I was doing that before, it really helped with the thinking stuff.

Hey @Enchantre

Years ago, I had a program for computers that would slow them down so you could either play a game or watch something at a perceptible speed. This is before clocking control and the like. My computer actually thought it was cool that I had to run something to slow it down so I could keep up with it. I believe it was actually proud. ;)

If it weren't for cannabis, my mind would run the same. Buzzing through every scenario of the day, every problem encountered, every idea.... an if the idea was good but needed work to perfect, then sleep was sacrificed.

I love the fact that I can run my own little cannabis program and slow things down a bit....with the option to let them rip when I want them to...

I think you're cool and I like the way you think! Don't fight what is, go with it! Definitely don't feel guilty for it!

If you ever want to chat, hit me up with a PM. I don't see things as most do, and some have told me I have a refreshing perspective...

It's okay, I understand. @Vicki seems to be my "soul sister" here on FC... we have some amazing similarities... she is "thin, gorgeous" Vicki, and I'm "really not thin" Vic... um, yeah. me.

See, it all makes sense.

You mention self-honesty. I like that phrase. Since my emotional breakdown [just so you know, that phrase is making ME cringe] I have been digging through the piles of "coping" masks, layers, personae, etc., in an attempt to figure out who "Me" is. Some of those piles are covering some pretty nasty scars, many of which aren't really healed, so I'm still shying past a few "issues", so far, in order to gain a little traction with coping while going through all this. I am the world's biggest fraud. seriously, I was hiding so much shit from myself, let alone the rest of the world... I still have to double-check that I'm not using a personae/mask when I'm talking to my hubby!

Okay, you know that cartoon about having to stay online because "someone is wrong on the Internet!"?
Yeah, I'm more like "someone might think I'm wrong! I have to exPLAINNNNNNNNN....." :)

Kudos to those of you with BPD in particular. It's a ridiculously difficult road, but do not be deterred, I know people who have recovered from it and have fully integrated personalities (and boy are they self-honest) :)

I hope you've looked into DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy) from Marsha Linehan, as it has the most successful track record I know of for folks with borderline personality. It's hard work, you know that, but this has shown results.

This thread has made me think of some of these people, and I will now be sending one an e-mail about trying a CBD oil as part of her treatment :) Thanks! She also happens to exhibit aspie aspects, so I think the overall effect could really be a benefit.

I'm going to go check out that online test, as I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 38 (what an eye opener THAT was!) and I'm very curious what it might reveal (and what their methodology is).

Been thinking about introducing some CBD into my life to see if it help mainly with mood/anxiety issues, maybe a medipen seeing as the NHS are testing them.

Also I might try vaping some other herbs in my og vapcap seeing as I always carry it as a backup and I stress vape more than I need to, I find a lot of comfort in the routine and sensory stimulation and it doesn't look as weird to others as other stims (I don't really talk to people about being autistic)

I'm hoping this can help me to bring my tolerance down a bit aswell but obviously willpower and other factors come into play

Does anyone have any advice, thoughts, personal stories etc?

I agree with the point that lowering tolerance helps those with Autism much more than getting blasted. Getting blasted then going outdoors where there are chance interactions with others doesn't work for me at all. Makes the experience much worse than going sober. Microdosing though, makes things easier. I don't know if you'd call it paranoia, but uneasy, uncomfortable, etc..

I have found for me that a 0.005g dose helps a lot! Just enough to feel the effects, plus quiets the never-ending rush of info going on in my head.

I'd bet each person has to find their own Comfort Dose, but when you do and when you know you can have a session resulting in the same, repeatable effects every time.... then you'll be set.

Regarding THC vs CBD, have not found a general ratio I could rely on across strains. I believe more in the overall composition of certain strains (terps and other compounds in addition to thc/cbd). Most strains treat me right, but there are a few that I avoid at all costs due to bad effects.

Also, a nice mellow ABV buzz is long lasting... not so hard hitting, and good for times I can't vape when out. Usually a tablespoon of ABV mixed in peanut butter, then down the hatch...and I'm good for 5+ hours.

Most fear monsters
That live under their bed.
But the monster I fight
Resides deep in my head.

So to kids and parents
All across this great land
Take it from me
Neurotypicals simply can't understand....

I use a 1-1 ratio mix of CBD-THC in treating my cancer and chronic pain (spine injuries).
I've played with ratios as high as 21-1 (works as a non-psychoactive pain relief and is calming).

CBD in a mix with THC is interesting, it modifies the effects of the THC and tones them down a bit...
if you took just CBD prior to using THC it will act to block more of the THC.

Take care with many of the 'medipens', you don't want something that uses PEG in the cartridge as it's been shown to do some nasty things to your lungs. Pure CO2 process oil is all you want.

As for tolerance, your best bet is to take a cannabis holiday at least 1x each quarter of the year (I do a minimum of 3-4 days, but a week seems to work really well, and your tolerance (and costs) drop (about in half for me after a week).
