Firewood Vaporizer

Just got my walnut in the mail and started testing it out! It's definitely trickier than the other vapes I've used, but I think I can get the hang of it. Mostly just trying to figure out how to regulate draw speed, and once I get a successful hit, trying to remember what I did that worked. I feel like 70% of my draws are fumbles so far, but that didn't seem to stop me from getting more medicated than I've been in quite a while - I'm a microdoser though so it may just be the amount I've had to test... Life's tough, right?

I did end up bumping it up to 4 using the 8/5 thingy, I might bump it further as I'm still not getting anywhere near the dark ABV I see with my E-Nano. Not getting the clouds I get with that either but that's not a huge surprise, specially since I'm new to this vape.

The heat is definitely annoying, much hotter than the other vapes I've used, but it's not as rough on my throat as I was afraid of so I think I can live with it once I get my technique down.

Sorry if I missed the edit button but did I mention that I just tested my new Firewood a lot?

Thanks for talking me into this, y'all!

EDIT: I found the edit button.

I bumped mine by 3 or 4 (can't remember). I fill the capsule without packing and do 5-6 hits at 3 and 5-6 hits at 4 with a 10 second slow draw. My ABV is always crunchy brown when I'm done. Occasionally, the vapor gets hot but not has hot as the PnP used to get. This has become one of my favorite devices and it's pretty much an autopilot activity now.

Torch vapes all the way!
Still enjoying my firewood broke my bowl but im just using it on my jhook and its nice and smooth  firewood has made me ignore my lotus and vapman. But my daily driver is my supreme 3 right now. But the firewood gives a unique buzz the Supreme can not

I would call my grind medium and I just drop it in. Sorry I can't provide a pic. It's between hand grind and grind the shit out of it.
Same, I throw it in my 4 piece grind it, turn it upside down, grind it again and its good to go. Doesnt come out as fine as a 2 piece but not as coarse as the first grind through the 4 piece

Yeah, I'd concur with medium grind.
I grind it in my space case, the MFLB finishing grinder I'd call fine, and I dont use that for this. I fill my capsule loose, about 3/4 full. This has become my favorite walk around vape because I like how it fits in the palm of my hand.
I like to start on 2, I dont use the hack because I've been too lazy/satisfied to seek out it's details, and hit it 2 or 3 times then kick up to 3 and hit it a few more times and boy does it get the the job done! A couple of nights ago I went out for a walk and I was blowing CLOUDS with it. Then last, a walk, and no clouds, I felt like I was struggling to get any visible vapor, but it didnt matter, because I could taste it and I was feeling it!

I recently got the firefly 2 as well and I love that, but I love this as well.
I like to go back and forth. Hit the firefly at home, and then take a walk with the firewood.

I love the walnut, I think it's a thing of beauty. I love it in my hand.

And yes I have ample use of this device this device.

Interesting; I've never tweaked my heat setting, and my abv usually comes out nice and brown even on level 2. Occasionally I go up to 3 for faster or deeper extraction... that'll get it as dark as I ever like to take it.

How do you all pack your capsules and what grind consistency?
I use a 4-piece Mendo Mulcher.

I flip the capsule and suck herb up like a straw, or scoop some up with it; never really tamp at all, just brush away any excess over the rim.

Here's a medium amount:
(in the morning I use about half this, and at night about double)

I just read about the temperature hack and am looking forward to playing around with it.

Question, if you use the temp hack, does the device automatically reset to the factory default temp when you turn it off or does it stay at at the level you set it too?

It will keep it until you change it back.

Still haven't got the hang of this thing. Most of my draws I get no vapor at all, even when the heating element is red. It seems to respond best to very long draws but I can't tell how strongly I have to pull to get visible vapor, and I've only got one or two dense clouds like what I get from a short draw on my desktop vapes.

Not at all a fan of long draws so I'm hoping I'm just doing something wrong?

How are you packing the bowl? I feel that the pack of the bowl will yield different vape results.

Are you letting your herb properly dry out? If you're grinding it fresh and trying to vape it right after, you won't be able to effectively vape it because it will be too sticky. Grind it up, and let it sit on a piece of paper for an hour or so til its dry feeling and vape that. Usually I do this a day before hand or early on in the day if i know im going to vape at night. I just grind up a decent amount and keep it ground up in a container while i use it throughout the week.

I've been just dumping the ground herb into the capsule until it's mostly full, without packing, I'd seen several people say this is how they use this vape but maybe I should try actually packing it?

The herb's already dry and vapes fine in my E-Nano, but I'll give this a try.

One thing I didn't mention is that when I do get vapor from one of those annoyingly long draws, it's only in the last two or three seconds. With previous vapes I've used it never takes longer than a second to start drawing vapor, but what I'm doing now seems to need 8+ seconds of drawing nothing until I get any vapor. That tells me I'm probably doing something very wrong, but drawing harder doesn't seem to make any difference so I don't know what's going on.

Dont pack it down, just fill it up about 3/4 of the way and try that out. When you inhale the herb will fill up the capsule.

When I had my underdog I would be able to get it dark crispy brown with ease, but with the firewood it takes more effort and it still never gets as dark as the underdog from my experience.

Try a primer inhale and then after start a slow inhale and slowly ramp up the speed of your inhale as you start to feel the vapor.

I usually take a series of short puffs, starting 5-10 seconds after setting the heat level. That generally gets me visible vapor within a couple seconds, and major clouds as the draws stack up.

FW brings its element up to temperature after you set the heat level and then, when there's no draw detected for a period, lets it cool down to idle. Once that's happened, you can either draw or set the level again to make it heat back up, and you probably want to give it another couple seconds to get there.

I don't do this… almost always grind and immediately vape; sometimes a little left over will sit in the grinder till the next day. My bud is well-cured though, neither crumbly nor moist.

... try filling the capsule more and packing a little, you will get the results your looking for...

this is what i do on temp hack #7

Well, I can now get reliable vapor, but only at heat 4 on temp hack 7, which seems like a problem. Do y'all think my FW might be defective, or do I just really suck at this?

Fellow vapor brother
I've been using pre rolled grams lately (because I'm lazy), with great success. I just dress it and unload it into the doob tube. Get 5-6 bowls out of one of those. It would be perfect for the capsule system.

Wow! Same here, although I'm wondering whether it will be as slim and pocketable as the fw3
Will the operation be similar (single button, haptic feedback, regulated heat level selection, draw sense…)??
of course it will have to be slightly thicker to accomodate an 18650 since an 18650 is about the same thickness as a fw3 and you need to have a case around the battery. However, I managed to keep the extra thickness minimal and limited just to the battery part, so the heater part is still 3/4 inch thick. It is smaller in the other two dimensions though, about the size of a deck of cards. Weight is a little over half that of fw3. Overall it is more pocketable in my opinion. Operation will be similar.
