The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Hi guys, I've got an Extreme Q on the way and I'm wondering what size the GonG elbow joint is so I can pick up an appropriate water tool to mate with it. Arizer's website doesn't appear to list the size.

It's 18/19mm

Do you think the a cold basket would heat to the same temp as a preheated basket, in the time I wait for my herb to heat soak anyway???

I wonder how fast it conducts the heat?

Maybe it really makes no difference as it heats up so quick anyway...

I'd say not quite if you aren't letting it sit, judging from taking screens out at different times. I don't think it's enough to make too much of a difference, athough I feel like I notice it

After extensive and 'scientific' testing....

I've decided it doesn't really matter if the basket is hot or cold....

As long as it's preheated it clouds fine, moisture content and grind seem to be much more important. At the moment I'm liking a medium grind at 55%....

Anyway....how do you dry yours???

I don't like the bubbler to dry naturally, takes too long, I worry about bacterial growth....

So I fan it at 200 with the eq to quick dry it...

Anyone else do this and worry about bacteria... or just me...???

What a Fucking great Ideal!
I'm firing up my Q to do just that!
OK getting medicated beyond measure!

I'm not worried about bacteria in my glass, no...especially not from vaping...ISO, hot water and Morton Kosher salt!
Although sometimes when I hit the EQ for too long, the THC high creeps up on me like an army of miniature green-colored neurotransmitters, jumping up and down on the side of my cortex screaming "GET HIGHER!"

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
I mean when I'm done with it, and I empty the water, if I was to leave it there for say 6 hours to dry naturally, would any bacteria grow on the moisture inside???
A little more than say leaving a large water glass to dry naturally. Only because their is more surface area, tight spots, crevices etc. Really weighs on how well you clean it beforehand.:2c:

I just cleaned my D020 yesterday by flushing it out with warm tap water, ISO and Sea salt soak and some gentle shaking. Flush out with warm water. Just warm enough to melt any brown poo specks. But not create stress cracks in the glass unnecessarily. Repeat with ISO and Sea salt. Flush for good. Fill and enjoy.

O.K. what I really do is take my D020 to the bathtub and top it off with water and exhale a power blast of water out the top hole a few times and then ISO w salt. Rinse then clean the outside and fill with warm water. It looks like crystal until the water turns to back to hydrosol hours later.:haw:

I'm too nervous with my first proper glass piece to tip it upside down say have water drip back into the EQ and the bottom heavy weight of the little guy. :o It is a fairly balanced upright tho. It was for 'scientific' testing. Can't be helped.:science: Looks like fun. Having adapters around can make for some interesting combos and turn things on their head. Like @kellya86's D020.:D

Not recommending any of this, but say @kellya86, in your scientific ponderings, :brow: Did you dry vape it once and watch the vapor come out of the slits? :brow: Or run the fans?
Anyway....how do you dry yours???
Several slow and quick methods. Grinding it in a 4pc and leaving it inside, perhaps open. Grind into a coffee filter and fold the filter so that the materials dry 360. Or set on/near a small fan.

No mate you will be just fine. Humans are pretty resilient & anything would be minor at best. Not that I am qualified but I used to run a annual flu campaign with the big banks & used swab testing to put the frighteners on them. Compared to your phone or kepboard there is nothing to worry about but it was always funny comparing bacteria count from a toilet seat to a lift button (lets just say I would be safer eating off a shit house seat than a food court table).

If you have some Boveda 62 packs around that takes the drying out of it as it is always at the correct vaping humidity that way.

Speaking of glass I thought I would share my EQ driver & we went through a lot together. I had other bits of glass on the side & tried on several occasions to replace her but she kept me coming back for more. Unfortunately we had a falling out & I think our relationship is irreparably fractured now. I will always love her.

Oh yeah @ataxian there is a nice gridded stemline with your name all over it in the cheap glass thread. It has what you need & is only $30US.

I didn't do this, why??? What happens????

@Stevenski thanks for the reassurance, I know it's just me being an anal ocd nut...

Sure I'm not gonna catch legionnaires disease from a moist bubbler, hell when i was young, I smoked through sludge of bong water, infested with slugs and god knows what, that bong lived in a bush....

I'm still alive.... unlike your glass, sorry to see that...

But clouds and silver linings, maybe your next one will be much better and you will be glad you broke this one....

Hello.
I had my V-Tower disassembled ...
( Had to swap places ,the very annoying blue "Power" LED with the eye-comforting
green "Timer" LED ..." Blue-Light-Annoyance-While-Vaping-At-Dark-Syndrome " )
IMG_0003_zpsr1ldlvud.jpg

The internal differences with the Extreme -Q are only few...
I.e. The fan is missing in the V-Tower ...
And some parts (for the fan driving ) on the MCU's pcb ..

The MCU used at the V-tower is the HOLTEK HT46R067.
That and the way V-tower & Extreme Q regulate the temperature ,
makes me 100% sure that both use P.I.D. control .
Also there is an ATMEL 24C02N EEPROM on the pcb ...

Top quality job done and materials used for the electronics and the rest of external and internal parts ..
Only "con" is the air -path ....Air goes through the electronics ...
Other than that ,both the V-tower and Extreme Q are well built vapes .
And they both come at decent prices ...

Love the balloon thing ? Go for the Extreme Q ..
Love the whip only ? Go for the ( cheaper ) V-tower ...

Nice piece!
Can a 18mm MALE be added instead?
JHOOK for mouth-piece? (or giant ash collector)

I use HYDRO-TUBES with my "Q".

I want the piece in your photo.
More glass is arriving today (another HYDRO-TUBE)

I don't know either just thought it might be cool to try since you bothered to place it upside down. The visual I pictured is of plooms of vapor being pushed out the slits and falling like a waterfall out the percs. :sherlock:

:nod:Too true! That's one reason I own a washable keyboard and ISO clean my mouse and phone. I won't bother you with the OCD things I've come up with using a public restroom. Then I use the light switch on the way out.

If only there was a glass blower that could resurrect your vapehammer. Really examine the perc and size and other things you liked besides the well placed design. I like where it was applied as much as I like the pattern. Your's resembled the FC-201 the most I felt with the larger spaced perc at the base. Perhaps that would carry you over until a proper replacement surfaces?

Thanks for the exploded view and the component break down. There was some discussion on he thread about how the EQ controls it's heat you might find interesting.
The fan is multipurpose for me. :science:Not just for filling bags. I do like the fan for whip assists and water bong purging. Testing the resistance of my water piece and airflow. Squeezing that last bit of action from a bowl. Haven't even gotten into aromatherapy territory yet.

It's worth the price difference to get the EQ at around $150 from a reputable dealer with a full warranty. Some places retail the V-tower alone for that price. :2c:

The V-tower does have less hardware and will not have the fan + PCB problems that can happen with the EQ. :nod:One reason to get a V-tower. I almost bought a used one with a 14mm adapter. Or is that how they all are. IDK.

You could use a 14m/18f adapter? The mouthpiece is pretty small & you can't fit a 14mm joint in there (that's why I thought of you).

I hear you on wanting that piece. I still do!

It is close to the FC 201 & I will be either ordering a very similar one from DH Gate with a reti perc or forking out $360 for a SOL bubbler I have had my eye on. Either of them requires gainful employment but if things come together I should have negotiated a new position to start the day my no compete clause expires.

Here is a vid comparing a reti to a matrix perc

Hi @stardustsailor, Thanks for posting. Just reread your post and got more curious. :hmm:So, to grossly oversimplify, do you think that the V-tower uses the exact same PCB minus say a few more chips and the pin out to the fan? OR do you think they might print a different PCB? I will keep in mind the years and upgrades of both units. Perhaps even soldering off certain gateways?

Actually bought dumbed down motherboard for my PC before. Same architecture of the more expensive premium gaming board. Two different models of boards, same PCB, but the chips were cheaper/faster/better which make for the price difference. Conversely, there is less problems for not being on the bleeding edge of chip tech. ;)

Look geeks, datalink sheets for the two chips mentioned..
