@StormLoaded - The 'new electronics taste' shouldn't last long. It shouldn't be so bad that an ISO rinse for a new unit is required out of the box though. Are you sensitive to taste and smell? I'm overly sensitive on the smell side myself.

Try charging the battery and then do some max temp runs with an empty oven until the battery is low. Occasionally mouth draw in and blow out. Don't use ISO. After this ... If the new taste is still so bad that it is ruining your experience I'd contact Focus support.

Anyone else have a serious issue with the new electronic taste lasting longer than one or two full battery of sessions?

The Xmax mouthpiece being silicon was horrible when first used but the Focus wasn't bad for me.

Fill the chamber with some old abv when u run the burnoffs to help season it.

brilliant, cheers, will try some abv in it and leave it a while for a few runs to drain through the battery.

No, i've never really had an issue with 'new electronic' smells before, but I do recall something similar with the original davinci, though don't think the pathway is good on that anyway (?), however it wasn't too bad or lasted long. But yesterday with the focus was particularly bad and wasn't expecting it to be so, to the point where everything I had after (food/drink) tasted bad and the general taste lingered in my mouth for a good hour+ ..

I cleaned with an iso based vape wipe before that - but probably just as well as dirt was removed from the mouthpiece/chamber. (easy to spot the black bits on the white wipe).. it looked clean after, I gave it another max temp burn off after wiping, then left it for a couple hours, so thought would be good to go!
will give the used abv trick a try anyway, and give it a few good runs to max temp. fingers crossed.
I probably just got unlucky with a unit that had been sat on shelves pre-packaged that picked up some dirt/dust I guess.
If its still there after a couple full battery drain downs i'll contact focus support as you suggest.

thanks for the info

Whoa! Sounds like something isn't right. Lets poll the other users in the thread to see if you should contact Focus Support sooner rather than later. One of the things I liked about the Focus versus other models with the same form factor was that the new electronics smell and taste was so much better.

DID ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS LEVEL OF INITIAL BAD TASTE?

Naw just stick it in and let it run a few times.
A gravity bong is perfect for seasoning vaporizers, you just need a bottle:

Could fellow focusvapesters confirm the models which holds the fm capsules / bullets where was these these units purchased from. Vapowelt has the older stock.

After the initial burnoff I noticed little to no offputting new vape taste however this is 1 of the older versions. In fact up until my last usage of my unot I thought the taste from this vape was good and gave some clear distinctive tastes from different herb that other (some more expensive) vapes are not as good at.

For all uk vapists https://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/focusvape.html £79 delivered!!! Bargain imho.

@priestsmiler - Sorry....I can't help confirm the models - maybe you could use the Focus support option on the Focus web site. They were pretty quick to help when I tried them out.

Your experience and my experience with the initial taste and burn-offs are the same. I was pretty happy as well with how little there was of the new electronic taste and how quickly there was none at all.

Did you get your broken unit back yet?

@StormLoaded - How did the burn-offs go and are you still experiencing that nasty taste?

My lady and I went to the beach Friday night and came back Sunday. Took the Focus and Xmax for walkin around and for hangin on the beach. Never broke out the Xmax though. The battery life on the Focus hung in there for the entire 2 days so there was no need for the Xmax. Still had plenty of power left over.

Another nice feature is 'doing the confident walk with a fully packed oven' with a form factor that looks like a cigar pen. I noticed a bunch of folk with vaporizers and noted to myself I couldn't tell what anyone was vaporizing. There all kinds of vapes out there. Out in the open stealth!

I not get my unit back for a while yet, I only sent it back to Germany (vapowelt) on the 23rd. I've had other things to tend to and finances have temporarily dwindled. I shall be waiting till things pick up then shall be purchasing the other 'newer' model with a slightly bigger oven, that fits the capsules to compliment my 'classic' focusvape model. This should (hopefully) tame my vas (for the time being). If not then I foresee the ff2 being next on the hitlist... :/

Got my focus back. The lights are brighter than before, the ceramic chamber is immaculate this time round and I got an extra battery for my trouble. It seems to take slightly longer than the 1st one I had but everything else seems good. I'm really glad that she's back. Now I'm going to be spoilt for choice :)

Glad to hear it! Sounds like you're happy with the Focus support received.

@mikeb6109 - great video! Really well done.

At the end of the video it says one of the 'cons' is it shuts off after 3 minutes but I think it goes into sleep mode after 5 minutes and then stays in sleep mode for 3 minutes. It's one of the big pluses for me.

Thanks I am happy you liked my review. But mine does go in sleep mode after 3 minutes of use........then you need to press and hold the button for 2 seconds to wake it back up. But I will have to try it tonight and actually time it.
BTW did you hit the subscribe and give me a thumbs up? More videos to be posted shortly on the new BLACK WIDOW vaporizer and the Atman Starlight.

I timed it as well and mine is definitely 5 minutes and 3 for sleep. My manual also says that. If you do time it don't do what I did and use the ol' 'One Mississippi' count. When I used the 'Mississippi' I lost a minute or two down south.

It's an obsession but it's pleasin'
Like many others here, the Focus is inspiring feelings of VAS as I await my Grasshoppers. It seems like a good session vape if I'm out and about with more than one friend. I currently have a PNP and there's a lot about it I like, but it seems like the Focus might address some of the PNP's shortcomings. It has a replaceable battery and a glass mouthpiece, 2 big pluses. The Focus' air holes seem to be an upgrade and the dry material pods seem to work like the PNP's bullets; even better since they are self enclosed. All of this at PIU's great price make it hard to ignore.

But in the tried-and-true VAS-dithering tradition, I some questions for those of you who are already Focus-ed (apologies if these are answered in the thread already and I missed them. I did read through it, I swear):

1) Are the batteries a proprietary size like the Grasshopper's or are replacements available from many sources?
2) How does the Focus compare to the PNP in size? Is it longer? Fatter?
3)For those who own a PNP and a Focus, would you classify the Focus as an upgrade to the PNP?

Thanks!

1 The batteries are standard 18650's the 1's that the arizer air use, or samsung or lg (mine came with a red lg battery and the replacement came with an arizer air battery). Pretty much any decent 18650's should do the trick. Personally I use some green 1's ( I cant remember make or model without checking) from fasttech for spares.
2 The pinnacle is shorter than the focus.
3 the focus is kind of an upgrade to the pinnacle. But I still use my pinnacles prob more often (just) than the focus probably because my focus does not fit the bullets in :'(
I'd definitely recommend the focus as a 1st vape, backup or even as an alternative way to get medicated.
Hope that helps man. :)
