MiniVAP Vaporizer

I have the older Teflon MV, about 3 years old now and still going strong!
The only issue I have is that the temps are a bit too low and my ABV comes out either green or very light straw color.
I can still pull clouds off the ABV in other vapes but the taste is awful, so the MV is doing its job just differently.

Still thinking about doing a core upgrade but the flavor seems to last forever in mine versus the newer updated cores. It's a great super long session vape that comes out a lot during movies at home!

I have permanently upgraded my lid to use glass stems using some high heat epoxy and find it to work really well!
When using with a WT I just use the flexicone resting in the joint.

An awesome vape!!

I hate vape catch 22's!! Lol!!

Thanks for that!

I've been fascinated with the MV since its launch, but I've always been reluctant to buy one because of my (perhaps unfounded) feelings on its reliability. Now that Hermes seem to have ironed those out, I might buy one in the not so distance future.

@VapeFiend.com replied to my email and said he had no plans to restock the MV, so I would have to buy it direct from Hermes.

I have a Mighty, but I can help but think there are slightly better devices out there. Great unit and good vapor production, but flavor drops quite quickly.

Long time no see! Perhaps you remember my unlucky story with the MV. Well, since Hermes worked out the problems with the faulty heater my unit worked flawless! I still have some minor problems with dryness but if you are willing to pair the MV with glass or something similar it might outperform the Mighty in terms of vapor production and still has a better taste.

Btw, I have my 3rd RMA for Mighty and 2nd RMA for Crafty running right now, so I'm getting Mighty number 4 in a few days... The MV can't be worse.

If you are looking for a place to buy your unit, www.verdampftnochmal.de is a good address. They have GC and TC in stock for an appealing price, iirc even cheaper than Hermes is selling their units and they can handle warranty claims too, if needed. They took care of me when communication with Hermes wasn't like it should be.

I'm not sure if it had always been present, or if the condition recently developed, but my mv omits an audible electric buzzing sound. It continues to perform flawlessly, is there anything to be concerned about?

I've heard so many reports of buzzing from other vapes I can't remember the answer to this anymore! I wouldn't worry unless the unit starts to drop in performance, or if it is loud enough to bother. I'm pretty sure I've heard this from at least one other MV user.

Michel! Good to hear from you again!

Thanks very much for the update. I'm quite certain I would pair a MV with glass and/or water, although I would also be interested in trying dry a longer whip than the stock one.

I appreciate the link to the reputable reseller. I'll take a look and let you know what I decide in the coming weeks. I'll also contact Hermes - the last time I did around a year ago, they intimated that they would be happy to offer me a 20% discount voucher code when I decide to proceed with the purchase. I'm hoping the offer still stands!

How do you do? Does the solo glass stem fit in the teflon chamber?what's the plus?
Thanks.

Yes the stem fits directly into the Teflon chamber with the Teflon ring also attached to the chamber. The stem fits very snug when unit is cold, so I wait till the mv has heated and reached my desired temperature then insert the filled stem. The stem fits snug in the Teflon ring/chamber, but can be easily removed when mv is hot. I pack the stem 3/4 full and place a small cut out screen at the bottom of stem to Prevent material from falling out. I find that I get faster and thicker cloud production hits using the same amount of material with the glass stem than I do using the flex cone+ small basket whip method. The taste dissipates quicker when using the glass stem method tho.

Got to give it a try.

Some questions about the minivap maintenance.

How can I be sure my unit is still working at top notch quality?
The white rings within my unit, how important is it that they are 100% clean/able to get 100% clean? Should I replace these more regularly?

I see the grasshopper thick clouds and sometimes I feel like my unit isn't working well because I tend to never get those thick clouds and sometimes no cloud at all. I still get very very high usually though.

The mv used to frustrate me because sometimes I felt like I get big clouds then some none at all.. When I would think that I would just pack directly into chamber with no basket and boom huge clouds..sometimes I feel the basket might get clogged. If your talking about the white and inns inside of chamber that is the Teflon rings and those just wipe clean especially if you use baskets mostly. The white rings on the top of my unit seem to yellow over time..doesn't seem to be much to do about that.

I only use baskets. Nothing else.
My white teflon rings that come out those are stained towards the bottom. Does that effect how the unit functions?

I have a SS GH. The MV at similar heat settings, even though that's a bit of a guess with the GH, are very similar cloud wise. Taste wise the MV wins by a mile, and high wise, I've yet to try a vape that has the MV signature buzz. It's unique....in a really good way.

The best advise i can give you is to never over pack a basket!
Keep it light and fluffy and you will always be rewarded with clouds.
I use mine on Green all the time.

I keep expecting one of my "new" vapes to displace the mV as king of the vape station but it hasn't happened yet.

It is awesome.

Just got some S & B "capsules" today so wanted to try them in mV. With teflon core unit, the capsule bottom doesn't fit in mV chamber as ridge on capsule is wider than the chamber.
For those with Glass Core mV and S&B capsules, do they work/ is the glass core chamber any wider??

Note that the capsules do fit lightly into the Flexicone top---the capsule cover gets lightly held by Flexicone. With this arrangement, the Flexicone/capsule sits taller in the mV so you cannot attach the cover. BUT, you could use "open face" style with a HT directly onto the Flexicone.

Or you can use a Flexicone as a "capsule gripper" to help separate the capsule cover from the capsule bottom as that can be awkward.

Didn't even know till right now that S&B made capsules for crafty/mighty. Must have fell asleep at the wheel on that. Regardless, I want it for my Crafty.

I have both cores. The glass core is noticeably larger than the Teflon chamber circumference wise and seems the same depth wise. It just may work. I'll get back to you on that one unless someone else chimes in.

Edit: I checked to see how the flexicone sat in each core. It is lower in the glass vs the Teflon in relation to the top portion where the lid screws on.

@Smknbud thanks.

The S&B capsules are just a tiny smidge too wide for the miniVAP Teflon chamber. The top/lid is too wide and the bottom capsule has a tiny ridge where the cover meets it, and just that ridge prevents full insertion into Teflon core. If glass core is noticeably larger, capsules might work :)

Let us know.

With only 1/2 day to experiment with capsules, they probably will not be nearly as effective as miniVAP Flexicone filtering modules: wire basket bottom, round screen, tiny hemp fiber filter, Flexicone top.

But the capsules are much cheaper and might likely be useful in their own way.
They are much less sturdy and they get HOT--- with Flexicone, you can turn off vape and take one pull and module is easy to handle by silicone lid.
Flexicones much easier to load / unload IMO

Will try more capsule options and see what that brings

Interesting idea with the dosing capsules!

They fit perfectly in the glass core with the flexicone above it, and they will fit in the teflon core if you remove the top part of the teflon insert first.

This vape looks awesome. Only downfall could be the heat up time.

I just fire mine up about 5 minutes before I want to use it. Same with my LSV. When I want an instant hit at the spur of the moment, my MFLB is at the ready. Tis my trifecta of vapes.

And as far as vape signatures, these three are so different from one another that it really helps in keeping my tolerance in check.

I agreed Smknbud and lwien, the MV signature buzz is truly unique. I find the taste amazing with my (Teflon core) unit, even when vaping shake or low quality bud. I mostly use the Purple & Green heat settings as I love the flavor produced at those temps, and I never use water filtration with the MV. I don't mind the 5 minute heat up time because IMO its worth the wait. My MV is by far my favorite vape in my collection! :peace:
