I actually meant to post that in the Cloud Evo thread, which had pretty much the same posts about the fake Symbiartic. (I believe that's not the best place for the love of the fakes, as Stonemonkey55 has already expressed.) That's what I get for posting after only one cup of coffee! LOL
I have a few pieces of Chinese glass & wouldn't normally knock it in a thread all about it. I understand about price. I do however hate when a design is blatantly copied. Often, however these copies are like ordering Idris Elba & getting Forrest Whittaker. (The worst is when the pics on DHgate aren't even of their copies.)
As for the function... Since getting that real Mobius, the fake is purely for company. The real one gives me the best hit out of all my glass. The fake was just average. (But at 10% of the price.)
My overall suggestion would be to have a few Chinese pieces & save up for a really good piece, rather than buying 50 Chinese pieces because they're cheaper.

I have both CALIFORNIA custom (labor is pretty cheap here)
My CHINESE pieces at least work fine.
You only need a few.
If your a collector that's your business.
I bought a ROLEX knock off once and put $100's of $ in it until the horses came home.
A real ROLEX is way better. I have a real one however my IPHONE is used the most!
Moving part's no copies!
Don't buy knock off vaporizers overseas . (they cut corners and don't have QA or the same standards as WESTERN CIVILIZATION!)
Glass a few is OK!
I break so much I go through a few!

FC-187 is a great piece. I have 2 (dropped one, glued back together). One is for dabs and the other for my underdog.
It's a great little sidecar with good function (I wouldn't say game changing but it works and I don't have much to compare it to)
I would say for the price, if you can swing it, get one. It's under $40, you can semi watch the smoke/vapor as you hit it, it seems light on the diffusion side (pro/con, depends on use.

My experience as well. Mobius is the best hitting glass I've ever tried and the fakes don't compare. And by "best hitting" I mean overall ease and coolness and smoothness of the vapor hit. People buy functional glass for lots of reasons, but for function specifically, I have yet to find another type I like as much as the Mobius matrix perc.

The last Chinese piece I got was free from Steven for redesigning their HT joint (which they never used.) Coulda gone with anything, but went with just the FC-MOD Ashcatcher + an extra perc to replace the one gravity claimed.
I could tell a quality drop from the original FC-MOD. The design is slightly different & it sits a bit cockeyed... Though I've seen worse!

Kathy's fab ball rig is A+! I was worried about the joint, but it's reinforced and even had a thick rubberized foam protection for shipping along with enough bubble wrap for two shipments. It's a very nice, beefy rig. The mouthpiece design is fantastic imo. It did come with a strange quality control type label seemingly baked on bottom, but I razor bladed most and will get the rest with alcohol. I will gladly put in the work to remove these labels, if the quality like this continues, so a very minor complaint. It has a 14mm female joint, 12 slit 6 top 6 bottom perc, 10.25" height from mp top to base bottom, 3.5" base, 14 fab holes not including the Klein welds. I honestly can't believe this is under $50, it's a keeper! @mvapes got any good ideas on making this a Big Lebowski themed rig? Lol, don't ship that item I just bought off you yet, and we can combine shipments if possible. Hit me up on the pm buddy, thanks!

Could be tough to fit a drop down on there unless you have a really high M-M or really low dropdown. Much easier to just throw a banger on top of the M-M if you're on top of a Dewar joint, but your can will get gooier quicker. That's why I suggested bangers with a longer stem. More glass before the can is going to pick up more condensate and less to clean later.
Those look awful. If the function is comparable to the difference between a Mobius piece and the fakes, I'm glad I have one of the originals.

DHgate pieces often remind me of an infamous old mansion in Detroit, nicknamed "Slumpy."
I'm with you. The actual Mobius pieces are much nicer. 10 times nicer, though? I don't know about that.
The picture of the house really brings this home. If you tried to live there, you're gonna have all kinds of trouble you wouldn't have in most homes. Rain and snow coming in, shit probably falling on your head, floors so out of whack your sofa could sit at a 45 degree angle, and much more I'm sure. There is a huge difference from here to a McMansion, but there's also plenty in between that would be fine for many of us. What I'm saying is this house isn't functional. You couldn't really live in it.
Comparing that to the glass we're talking about here? Nobody is looking to buy a broken piece, or one that doesn't function (like this house), but not everybody is up for a million dollar 7 bedroom, 7 bath crib, either. Chinese glass may not be as thick or straight or have as good of welds (though it sometimes can), but it works and usually works pretty damned well - especially if you stay away from the crazy percs and designs.
The piece I just got from glassartist for $70 is very similar to a Mobius Reti perc. It isn't quite as pretty, isn't a real Mobius, and probably doesn't fire quite as well as the $400 (450?) or so original. If it was $300 compared to $400 (if I could even still get a real one!) we'd be at a whole different place. But, it's not. You've got to show me some real value if you want me to throw down more than 5 times the cost for a close knock off - and I'm sure not seeing it. Plus, as I think someone mentioned above, one of the benefits of the real piece is better/more diffusion. When I was smoking, that would be great. But with vapor? Less diffusion is much better IMO because it holds the awesome flavor we get from vapor much better. Kind of makes me feel the same as when someone tries to draw my uber-hopped $7 beer into a frosted mug. I want to taste it, really taste it, that's one of the reasons why I buy the good shit!
I kind of get it, and if that's what you like go for it! Just don't expect me to join you for the price of admission. Especially given that the piece I just got for more than most Chinese stuff is priced, is still better quality (heavier glass, straighter, good welds, good function) than most DHGate stuff that is about 1/2 as much. If you go with the regular cheaper shit that most of us buy you're talking about glass that costs 10-15% of the original. That kind of money buys me enough to put in my vape for at least a few months, or a whole new vaporizor!

Care to review the $70 piece? With maybe pics that show the size? I am interested in it as the Reti perc is fairly impossible to find, and this is a fake based off a copy that costs $300! I just couldn't see paying $70 for something the same quality of the $30 pieces.

Check a few pages back, and think I added some more comments in a post since. Actually, here you go. Sorry, can't post a link to it because it has a fake label on it (very fake!), but pretty easy to find on DHGate in glassartist store. Look for "11.81 ... good function,tire perc".
Will try to get some more pics up once I get the label off. Hopefully this weekend.
It is the thickest Chinese piece I have. Percs not "perfectly" straight, but pretty damned close. I had said I thought the outside cage was a little bigger than it should be, but am going to go back on that - at least some. I took a close look at a few real retis in vids since, and think this is actually pretty close to original. When you put water in it (and get stoned!) it looks kind of wonky, but think that is just the perspective (refraction, right? damn! pulling that one out hurt my brain!
). Slits are not totally "identical", but pretty damned close, too. Fires evenly all the way around.

Got my FC V2 after what seemed like eons. This was the cheapest FC 187 I could ($26) and the quality is quite nice. No obvious defects, except for a centimeter long surface deep line gash in the base that you can hardly see unless I pointed it out to you. Looks like it happened before it set and not in shipping, so there's no burring or rough glass. No missed cuts in the percolator, either.
Glass plus Enail was about $105.
Packaging had a nice industrial processing smell to it, mmm..
