The Lotus Vaporizer

In addition to what @bukster said, there are also long pipe cleaners available at craft stores and smoke shops.

Hopefully I'll come across the right pipe cleaner sometime. Went on ebay, but I can't tell if it's skinny and long enough to go through. Also saw some pipe cleaners at a smoke shop but they had a pointy metal edge so I passed. I don't want to scratch my Lotus stem.

I like butane vapes.
I'm looking to get a more custom and cool pipe for my lotus. I prefer using my Jhook when im not using it through water but I was wondering if anyone had anything more custom?

never :p

(standard combustion pipe screen.. pushed inside the metal-ring-thing slowly with fingers, all around, then pushed the rest of the way with the lotus bowl) :)

i've tried it myself as well with the screen there, even loaded from the top side when I had opened it up for inspection and change of plate. It can get out of place easily and wonder around the very top of the space between the top plate and the actual lotus cap.. :p

@bounce5 The cap cannot be properly cleaned unless you take to top plate off, so basically never, I agree with dear nemo. You definitely do not want to take the plate off too many times. Especially if you've been having any bits of charred wood then the screw holes will eventually get lose for the screws. I had this thing myself and I had to get the new HT cap to be sure. I still use my normal one but I'm safe knowing that worst case scenario I have the new one ready to go.. ;)

A little 'fab-ulous' Lotus action this morning.

Okay stupid quetsion time.

I have an OG lotus model with the black paint, but it got me wondering. Is it honestly save to vape from it with the paint? Won't the wood around it heat up and possibly release fumes from the paint?

Also, will there possibly be a memorial day sale? Looking to pick up a high temp lotus :)

We have not had any complaints about fumes from paint and painted were sold for 3+ years.
We will not be having a sale this Memorial Day as the company is having a 2 week vacation starting this weekend.

@SecureSwede My Black painted cap is 17 months old and going strong, no issues with anything, paint is in excellent shape for 16 months of daily handling, and the paint @ the air intake is in perfect condition, it's a cold air intake area so it always has cooling from air flow and never reaches a high enough temp to do anything, perfect engineering on this device.

:) Love you @Max Jitter best vaporizer on the planet! 10/10 will buy again.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking for a while and the posts are usually quite thoughtful. It's a good site with a questionable name.

Now let the questions begin. I'll start. Would you say that there is absolutely no wood, metal or butane taste when using this vape? And, is the Lotus manufactured here or offshore?

There is no wood, metal or butane taste with the Lotus.
1 The air that goes past the wood is at room temperature.
2 I've had a lab test for nickel fumes (thin plate on top) and they are a small percentage of what is in normal air.
3 The inhalation air is drawn thru the little holes on the bottom of the heat exchanger, away from the flame. The flame fumes also go up because they are hot and low density.

The Lotus was designed here and will be built here. I'd like to see manufacturing return to the US, not leave.

NYC Vape asked:
Can you contrast your product vs. the VaporGenie?

The Vaporgenie and a lot of other torch powered vapes suck in the butane fumes along with the inhalation air. My objective in designing the Lotus was that there were to be no butane fumes inhaled. The original name of the Lotus was the Lotus Clean Air Vaporizer, but it was too long a name.

Lighters: The Lotus has to be used with a goose neck torch type lighter.
A Bic type lighter doesn't produce enough heat and when the flame hits the 'hot plate', it just dumps a bunch of soot on it.
The standard straight torch lighters don't work for very long when they are flipped upside down or past horizontal.
You could roll the Lotus on its side and use a straight torch lighter but then you only see the top with one eye and you lose depth perception.

Definitely portable, stealthy not so much. That's a comment not a criticism.

You're right. The Lotus comes in 2 stem lengths, 5 1/2" & 6 1/2", but it's definitely not as stealthy as the LB. I didn't want anyone to be worried about singing his/her nose with the torch.

Just reading this old post that compares the Vaporgenie to the Lotus. Here Max says that the Vaporgenie sucks in butane fumes. I've read that as long as you use a torch, there are no butane "fumes". It just releases CO2 and water.

speaking from 3 different lotus caps... nope! :p not even once in years

may be u used a smaller size that didnt hold well at the edges?

very good point and as a matter of fact I may have some larger screens! Tbh, I've been using the 15mm ones, these are the closest to the originals that you can get without having to chop any bits of the screen. They don't fit really tight so this is definitely an issue. I'll give it a go with the bigger ones to see how it works. Many thanks for the simple but juicy notice of yours! cheers mate! :science:

We'll have screens available in 3 weeks that are sized to fit and hold inside the cap. Thanks to @nemo and others for the idea.

Great idea....just got herb blown up into there last night....an easy mistake to make when under the effects of the Lotus, so having a screen blocking that area will be great.

My complaint is that the stir stick location could be better. It's a pain that the bottom metal ring on the cap knocks up against the bowl when trying to use the stir stick. Irritating and even moreso when under the effects of the Lotus. I'm thinking I'm going to have to just get a separate stir stick, which is annoying since the Lotus has one. It should be easier to use!

I love my Lotus. It's my favourite vape for hash, hands down... Just gave my natural wood cap (old one with the grooves - still going strong) a bit of love with some Ed's bomb ass butter and it's come up lovely.

I hate the stir stick though... Not the idea, that's great and it's really useful. Just mine keeps coming out. No amount of re-fixing with epoxy does it I'm afraid. How I haven't lost the thing yet

I think a better option would be to have one of the fixing screws extra long and only threaded on the top third or so... then have it screw into the cap, out of the bottom and become the stir stick. No glue at all (not that I really think it's an issue) and even better, a stir stick that can't fall out

@mnicsy999 I like to pre heat for at least 4-5 seconds before drawing then while hitting adjust the flow to the position of my torch. It really helps to have a clear vapor path whether that be with a J-hook or water pipe. If you're goin in close then draw fast, and then vice versa. For nice long and drawn out hits you kinda have to get this technique down then start playing with your torch position.

Any ways here's some lotus porn for you guys.

YAY! I just picked up a lotus with WPA and metal stem. I just jumped into the butane vape game recently and I MUST HAVE THEM ALL MWAHAHAHA  Now I wait for the Supreme V3 and Gnoome I am missing from my collection to pop up in the classifieds!

So I don't have mine yet, but any advice before I get started?

Great info, video would be extremely helpful if you could see the torch and lotus in the shot! You could remake it to help us noobs with our torch timing, distance and technique :)
