Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
So after my first evening with Mi I am in love...
A few things to do:
Definitely got to knock up a vape dr gituar pick safety. More for my OCD than anything else. Otherwise I will constantly need to double check I took the battery out (even though I know I did).
Got to play with screen position a bit. Basket right at the tip of the joint is good but I feel like back 5mm might give space for a bit of vortex/vacuum between heater screen and load leading to better heat distribution. I was getting noticeable hot points closest to air intake.
To this same theme Im gonna try a bit of organic cotton in the air intake just reduce flow a fraction. I also dont have the pretty screen in there so gonna modify one of the stem screens to fit once I settle on what is going under it.
Thats about it for now. Im sure Ill think of more ways to play (gotta get me a decent bubbler soon)
Worst thing is I now have to wait for the weekend as I have to stay away from the sacred herb during the week out of fear of getting random drug test while driving (my vehicle is my office so no license no job) and potential of coming up possitive. I broke my rule last night (who wouldn't) but now I know what I am missing out on...
Will get some phtos of experiments over the weekend so you can all come along for the ride. Might even try my hand at a vid though will probably be pretty crappy.
I got brown 3000Mah bats with the unit dont know which ones they are? Gonna have lots of fun running my old bats down to storage level and trying to see if there is any difference between old and new... I know they should be at 40% for storage what volts am I aiming for to be close to that? 3.8v? New ones came at 3.6v and took 4 hours to fill and were left on over night to make sure.

I really wouldn't recommend putting cotton in the intake, seems like begging for some particle to go into the heater as you inhale, burning fibers yum... I would just modify draw accordingly, open airflow takes some getting used to but imo it is possible to get proper performance if you just hone your technique. The more you use it the more natural it becomes with manual vapes, trying to mod it all right away just seems odd to me personally and in some cases is even pretty ill advised :2c:

I think it was AJS that said 2 batteries total would be fine for everyday use. why would you need 4 just to test it?

4 is pretty fun is but is definitely overkill. I pretty much have 2 batteries cased and in temporary storage, and 1 in the Milaana and 1 on the charger, and I'm pretty much at infinite seshes. I think 3 is a pretty good area to be at, because if you're out all day, you want to be 100% confident you'll last.
So I keep 2 fully charged and cased for about a week, just in case I need those extras at any point in time, then I swap those and start using those after a week and put the others in "storage", just to make sure none are stored at full capacity for too long, as that's not recommended.

I haven't used a single other vape since I got my milaana.

It's fantastic. It's nice to hear that customer service is improving. I really look forward to the day when RBT has their production and customer service functioning well enough to keep up with customers. This heater tech is truly fantastic.

Still would love to see a plug in vape using this tech. A log vape with a long, braided cable and a button for instant convection yet doesn't use up any power if plugged in 24/7.

I have the one coming with my Mi and 2 more so 3 total. Sounds like that will be enough but i only got a double charger. Guess I'll have to just keep one charged and ready, stored with a stem somewhere probably. Honestly I'm surprised to hear that 2 is enough in your opinion. That really makes this thing easy to bring out. Can't wait :)

I'm getting three good hits off a fully charged bat and that's about it, after that can hold it down for as long as I like and not get much visible Vapor, bud is browning, but very slowly. Could be cold unit, dud battery, or poor technique.

Edit to add, I'm pretty sure battery, because those initial hits are great full and tasty, but then just nothing. Three coming tomorrow, will know for sure by then via deduction if it's batteries or not, I hope it is.

Yeah sounds like it's the battery, should get at least 3 full bowls on a battery before you have to hold the button down for a long time to produce vapor.

Still loving my Milaana it's all I have used for the last couple of weeks, my Evo is getting jealous.

Good advice! I got the idea for cotton from someone else doing here with cotton buds? Was going to just put a thin layer on top of the mesh already in there to reduce that chance.
I know what your saying about get used to it eu-naturel first, I just cant help but get ahead of myself sometimes. Maybe I will just get a screen in there above the mesh to make it look pretty and forget about it like I cant get in there :sherlock:
There is still plenty of fiddling I can do with load size, placement of screen and such. Maybe slightly tighter pack (but not too tight) and a small gap between load and heat might help with the warm spots... Not that they are a huge issue if I just turn the stem after each hit it eliminates the issue. Just thinking of how to dial it in to fool proof for my vape sceptical friends:mental:

Keen for new batteries tomorrow! Can't finish a stem with the one that came with it, the first two hits tell me it's the battery, because they are sweeeeet!

I'd been leaving the battery in between uses. Not moving Aiden just leaving stationary. Is that ok or does it need to be removed?

It is fine I do that too, just make sure the trigger isn't at risk of being pressed is all.

@TheRobbo I feel ya, and yeah just the pack can really affect a lot, but you do you buddy!

@Tommy10 yeah unfortunately that battery sounds like another dud... Was it fully charged before the first use? Oh well you've got more comin! Glad you at least have the Milaana now

Try drawing slower at first, like pretty damn slow. Also try rotating the Milaana on the M2M, I do this for more even vaping.

In order to help you get a better idea, I'll run you through exactly what I do.

Grind up, pretty fine, a bowls worth and suck it up into the basket which is pushed to the very tip of the m2m, ensuring the herb gets as much heat as possible. Tamp it down ever so slightly to make it nice and uniform in the basket.

Get a FRESH battery. I put an iPhone light against my glass to see the vapor. Hold button down for 3-4 seconds to preheat and begin inhaling very slowly. Not too too slow, or the heat will increase before drying the herb and producing vapor, and the extra heat will hit you QUICK once the herb is heated enough to produce vapor.
Once vapor starts producing you can pick up your draw and it should milk up quick. If it's shooting towards a thick white, I let off the trigger for .5-1sec.
Stir.
Second hit needs less preheat as everything is hot and good to go.

If I'm cloud chasing, my routine is different.
The first hit is just enough to heat the herb and dry it out, as well as to heat the heater and everything else.
After the first (small), barely visible vapor hit, I empty the contents, powder it between my fingers, and suck up the herb. Don't tamp, as the very fine powder reduces airflow.
The second hit is the milker. Give it a nice 2-5 sec preheat, start slow and increase quickly, pulse the trigger once it gets milky, and slow down the draw towards the end to make sure you don't cool down the air enough to hit those dark high tempers.
I get hits much thicker than my old Nano this way.
Very nice description.... so many ways, all good.

On battery life...
I went through more batts daily with my AA. Mia uses maybe 2 or 3 a day with pretty heavy use.
4 to 5 bowls per battery, do the math (8 to 15).

Just ordered this on Amazon. Cool case, just right size for my needs.

I'm really happy for all you folks who are playing with yours now, but must admit my patience is really wearing thin, especially since i received and paid my extras invoice the same day as @TheRobbo

Still no Milaana for me....

I had resisted sending emails requesting info on shipping as i was aware they are busy and so should let them get on with it, but maybe (typically) that was the wrong approach.

Guess I'll have to get on the email.

Sorry to bring the good vibes down, i just had to vent as i am going crazy here now that everyone elses (in my hood) seems to have arrived.

Hopefully tomorrow, but if not it's the weekend and who knows how long...

Many of us know what you mean about losing patience @Vapenvy but still with it well worth the wait, it's very hard seeing users displaying there new toys and enjoying them whole heartedly as well. I'm sure you'll get some emails back about shipping, if not send me a PM and I might be of some help contact wise ;)

I'd have been stoked to receive a working battery :( paid for express shipping so praying for it before the weekend. Either three or 4 Samsung 25r's to play with, from an Aussie vape store so hopefully legit, charger doesn't have LED screen, just red and green. Might get a nictore or whatever soon! Hoping there is nothing wrong with the unit.

Thanks for the good vibes and offer of help.

I have sent Sheila an email, so now i have 2 things to wait for ha ha. And no doubt (hopefully) having gone to the trouble to ask, it'll turn up tomorrow anyway, but we'll see.

I certainly don't mean to take the edge of other people enjoying theirs, so hope i haven't done that, but venting a bit did make me feel better, so keep posting all the impressions and i can oscillate wildly between vicarious enjoyment and pure unadulterated envy.

It's all part of this wild ride, i guess

Oh dude that sucks :shit:
I had to send my Cera back a few times and even bought one off the classifieds here. I thought Mi turned up really quickly 7 days in transit. The average I got with Cera was more like 10 to 15. Im sure it will turn up. Does it show shipped on your PayPal?
Although my orriginal invoice dissappeared when the one for the extras was payed and the shipping info was on the new invoice...

It wont help but when I got home today and found the remains of what I had chopped up yesterday sitting in the bowl I couldn't help myself again :freak: embrace that risk
I am amazed at how much effect I got off so little weed :whoa:
If I had put the same amount in Cera I would have got hot air. There was just enough to cover the inside of the screen. I tamped it down with my pinky it was dried out a bit I'd call it fine ground not quite powder.
Get on the power wait 4 secs pull slow to start then speed up let go power keep pulling then stop. Rotate stem 45 degrees repeat with less preheat every time. I did that 4 times and the load was done all brown with 4 slightly darker spots.
This really is fun and almost feels natural love it. Ive been high off that tiny amount for hours
Im gonna try starting my draw earlier try and get some nice low temp hits next time...
:peace:

Edit @Vapenvy
Vent away my friend I understand your frustration and it is much better to let it out amongst friends than keep it locked away

But I like it!
So after a week of huge highs and crushing lows I come home and find Milaana in the mail! Preorder WAY back. Zion is great, but I see Milly coming for a lot of road trip and bush whacking adventures.

I need a larger charger... 18650s are the best thing. There is nothing worse that running out of vape while wandering the forest, and nothing better than a bunch of fresh batteries to extend the day .

I've run two batteries through since opening the box yesterday.

I'm still recharging from last week, but this is helping!

My guess is it is one of these:
http://www.illumn.com/batteries-cha...-18650g2-3000mah-high-discharge-flat-top.html

I was wondering how these would work compared to the 2500mah Yellow that were coming with the Milaana previously. Was hoping the extra 500mah would get 4-5 good sessions out of the Milaana compared to the 3-4 I'm getting on a Yellow LG 2500mah. I normally change batteries after 3 sessions. I've been using the stock LGs and have played with the Green Samsung 2500 as well. For some reason, the LG just work better for me. Need to do some blind comparisons somehow.

Does anyone think it's unwise to toss their batteries on the charger at 3.9-4.0v and charge to 4.20v a few times a day? I have 4 batteries and when using with water I always like a fresh battery.
If they'll still last me a year or so I won't really mind at all because they're so damn inexpensive.

Everything I have read about Lithium Ion lately has suggested that the best battery behavior is to top up charges often, rather than letting them run down too far. Even to the point that one site recommended topping up your phone multiple times a day if it is convenient.

No, those cells are manufactured rated from 300 to 500 cycles at most. Afterwards you can expect AT LEAST 25% capacity loss, but some cells will fail before that mark, some will last longer... 300 is less than one year at one charge per day.

The number of cycles is important. Constantly topping them and keeping them near to 100% will lower their life. The best usage scenario would be to charge only up to say 4.1V and discharge only to 3.6V (staying in the 80% to 20% band) but that becomes impractical.

I would say, use them to 3.6V before recharging. Recharge only before you intend to use them. Don't let them sit fully charged or fully depleted for more than a month, but better depleted than charged.

But ultimately, they are cheap. Recycle them in the appropriate bin and don't worry too much, we all can afford to spend $15/year on fresh cells I think, no? :p

Totally understandable! I'm assuming you're international? Hopefully you've gotten a paypal confirmation or something, or address confirmation?
If you hear nothing back from Sheila in a few hours I can give you her number, as that had seemed to do the trick for a few people.
