question about bongs

OK, so my EHLE 100ml just arrived... I tried it out with my PD, and I absolutely love it!

I've never used a bong before, so please be patient... If I wanted to combust the herb with the bong, where would I put my herb?? It would fall straight down into the water with this bong. Am I supposed to add a screen somewhere? Or do I have to buy an attachment?

Add a glass screen to the bowl. The bowls that come with the EHLE have huge holes.

There should be 3 basic parts.

1) The body of the bong.
2) A downstem (what you might be putting your PD in).
3) Finally a bowl, what you put in the downstem.

Are you saying the weed will fall right through the downstem into the water? Or are you saying the weed will fall through the small hole in the bowl into the water? If you are thinking of putting the weed directly in the downstem that wouldn't work, you need to put a bowl in the glass downstem. If you are saying the hole in the bowl is to big, then don't grind your weed, get a glass/metal screen, or any combination of the two.

Thanks for explaining! I didn't realize that you put pieces in whole instead of grinding. aero18 is right about the hole being large -- it would have to be a pretty big nug, probably too much for one sitting.

The Ehle is wicked with the PD.... i think it will get annoying to clean though.. it smells bad after one use.

hey anna,

you should get an ashcatcher for your bong, then you can just change the water in that and change the water in the tube less often, plus it will be smoother (another level of filtration)

edit, you should only need the ashcatch if youre smoking, shouldnt need it while vaping

Ive found that as long as i only vape out of my glass then i dont have to clean it for a long time. Its not like smoke resin which accumulates VERY fast and smells horrible.

Vape only = clean whenever you get around to it.

vape / smoke = clean as soon as its going to get vaped out of.. cant vape out of a dirty bong.. tastes horrible.


EDIT: And by the way, easiest way to clean glass: Isopropyl alcohol + kosher salt ( or normal salt, kosher salt is larger and acts as a better abrasive ) mix the 2 parts.. dont need much iso at all and dont need much salt, shake the hell out of it and it will look like new after a good rinse.

Very true. Vaping out of glass you've used for smoking is nasty. You might consider getting something like the 250ml EHLE or even larger and just use that for smoking. It'll cut way down on your cleaning chores.

If you can get a 250ml like Max said and they are so small you can clean it after every use, that is what I use and after I am done I just throw it into a 1gal ziplock bag then pour some Iso in and give it a soak and shake. I just dont like having dirty bongs around the house.

Thanks everyone!! I've been using the bong with the PD, and I LOVE it! I was just getting over a cold, and I found inhaling the cooler air was much more pleasant.

I don't think I'm going to smoke in the bong afterall. I rolled a joint a few days ago 'just for fun', and it wasn't fun at all. 2 drags and I was back inside vaping the leftover material with the PD.... Unfortunately, the herb tasted like smoke by that point.

I never intended to quit joints when I started vaping a year ago... i guess that has just worked out on its own!

The ISO and Kosher Salt works fantastic for cleaning... thanks for the tip.

I loved reading your post AnnaK!! I am amazed at how horrible a joint tasted to me last time I tried it and I smoke them EVERY DAY for YEARS!!!

Love my PD and haven't tried it with a bong YET... Now I want to :D Thank you!!

In regards to joints, I still have one about once a week. I love vaping, but smoking a joint has a satisfaction in itself. I probably just enjoy all the bad things I'm ingesting while smoking.
