I finally got around to checking the 8-pt. socket with the vise that @Joel W. recommended for you guys, and mine seems to fit well. Not too much play at all, although I haven't put any torque on it yet.
Next week for sure, I just need to get through a grow room overhaul and then the basement

Update on my Bolton Vise:
I've gotten the replacement unit, which visibly looked identical to the other one.
I've used it about as much as I used the previous vise and so far have not had the guard rails present any kind of warping.
Loving the plates and vise setup for my own personal use so far.

Hi rosin heads,
I finally got all my parts to setup and am planning to install it onto my black &decker workbench. Do you guys prefer pressing horizontally or vertically? I saw @VAPEHUNTER setupand think a vertical press will allow you to center the bud on the parchment. How do you keep the bud centered on the parchment when pressing horizontally? Thanks

Hey @Joel W. and others using these plates, I finally got my rig up and running, just got my socket in today so I can start using my torque wrench.
What is the preferred Ft Lbs. to use with the Bolton vise?

I'll hold the puck in the parchment and tighten down the vice until it just squeezes the puck then back off a bit slide the puck and parchment down in, tighten it a bit then kind yank on the parchment to get the puck centered. Or I'll push the puck around with the meat thermometer once its kinda squeezed in place. I do all this with the stock handle then switch to my torque wrench to apply the pressure.
I do pretty much the same.
I was worried at first about trying to keep the pucks centered with a horizontal setup but after getting a good number of presses in you get a pretty good feel for it.
Would recommend keeping it close it 0.5g picks though.

Edit* I don't do the initial clamping with the stock handle like above, but I will manually twist the square knob with my fingers, just enough so that the bud is held by the plates. Rearrange by loosening and re-tightening till its in a good position, then attach my torque wrench and use an easy slowish motion for cranking down.

i received joel's clamps last evening. i have never harvested rosin before. i bought the bolton vice and irons used by joel. i had success by the 3rd press

i had some lower grade 73u bubble to practice with. i wrapped the bubble like a burrito in the same muslin i use for my canna-coconut oil filter.
i did not anticipate the bubble hash to become shatter. but there is. like glass.
i will post pics as i transition into nugs. i anticipate texture to become more sappy.
seems the bubble process is a sort of winterization before pressing. i dont know,though.
mostly i need to secure a better place to squish. i was looking @ the black and decker portable work-mates.

they might be a little flimsy. there is one with a foot stand.
(right now im just clamped to kitchen counter)
i have room in my small place for the 5ft. wood bench from the freight.

I can chime in on that B&D workmate. I have the 350lbs version as I live in an apartment and have little room for a rosin pressing station. The workmate has been pretty solid for me after months of squishing, plus it fits away easily in my closet.
I use a one-ton arbor press which isn't heavy at all so that isn't a problem. Applying full force downward slightly bows the wooden surface but I'm not too worried about it snapping. What does worry me though, are the flimsy metal legs. Especially if you apply any sideways torque to the bench, it seems like they will bend and fail easily. Also the bolts/screws that are used don't seem very strong. Maybe I'm paranoid but I definitely don't give it my whole weight when I press.
I simply mount the press with my old Irwin Quick-Grips that I used to use for Rosin before the upgrade. Two basic 600lbs ones work perfectly and they've never slipped. I don't want to bolt the press down as I need portability to put it all away but I see no need for that anyway.
All in all the bench works well but I don't know for how long, especially if you aren't slightly delicate while pressing. It's a cheap, small and decent option though. If you aren't using a manual arbor press like me and just vice clamps, I think you will be fine with it. Hopefully this helps a bit.
I use the b&d workbench you linked above for my Bolton vise. I'm only using 2x 100lbs Irwin hand clamps which seems to work okay, but I would prefer either stronger ones or a third one.
The work bench isn't completely stable using my torque wrench at 60ft/lbs, but completely usable for squishing with the Bolton vise. Everything stores away quickly and nicely too.

i am a fan of the label. it has 3 grounded plugs. 2 for the irons and 1 for my plate warmer .
lastly, it has two leg heights. it can almost be adjusted to waist level for me. seem like a ChampioN.
that price though......... its on sale, and so is the expensive matching peg/clamp. idk yet.
