Discontinued The Grasshopper

Shrike

Flower Potted, Maxed, & Rio'd.
Well...I'm just about at the 3 month mark owning this Ti GH and it is still working flawlessly for me.

One thing I did not mention in the small review I did about a month ago is how EASY this thing is to keep clean! :luv:

I have not owned a vape, other than the Cloud/Evo that is this easy to keep clean. This is my go to vape daily, and I'm lucky if it needs a cleaning maybe every week to 10 days. It is so thorough at extracting everything, that what is left just needs to be tapped out. The walls of the vape only get a small buildup (which takes many days) on them, and is easily wiped off with q-tips and a little iso. :)

And the strains I run through this vape aren't exactly light on trichomes...currently in my quiver are Twisted Fruit (MotoRebel) and Black Triangle (Bodhi). :whoa:

I still have to admit that other than the Evo, this is my next favorite vape...period. And for portability, it has no equal...so far. Come to think about it, both of these vapes are excellent at extraction, and that is probably the main reason why they are both easy to keep clean. (I have only used both vapes with flowers, not concentrates...I know cleaning is a bit more involved when using extracts a lot).

Still really looking forward to when the Square comes out to compare....but, looks like at least 3rd quarter for that one. Learned to be patient waiting 2+ years for the 'Hopper, so half a year is nothing waiting on the Square.

After a good 6 months of rolling it around in my noggin, I finally pulled the trigger. I was trying to decide between the ff2, grasshopper, and crafty/mighty.

My estimated ship date is August, what are the chances I'll have it before labor day?

So ive been Using this mouthpiece for a while now, and ive got some pms since my original post. So ive been wondering if u guys want me to make them and sell them on ebay or something. If so ill send my gf to make a bunch :-). (can be made more pleasing to the eye as the guy who made them makes some amazing things).

I used the hopper natively for the first time in a little while last night.
It is definitely the shortfall of the device, and using some kind of vapour path extension is going to be desirable for anyone predominantly using the device like this.
It works really well, don't get me wrong, without water filtration the clouds seem thicker/smokier and are very noticeable with the extra heat (perfect for joint smokers, but far from the smoothest vape experience). You can drag as fast as possible and it keeps up (the best way to combat heat is to literally hit it as hard as you can from when it's cold. Gives off some solid hits this way. If you sip it slowly, it'll heat up before you get a good lungful). FWIW I've found with glass pieces there is a sweet point for extraction, you can't quite hit it as hard as is possible - there is an optimal speed to inhale.

So, for quick hits on the go, using it in bed, in the car or wherever space/stealth is important - for sure it works well and is enjoyable to use natively. But IMO the device is better when connected to something.

I agree with you but I wouldn't say better when connected to a bubbler. I would say connecting it to a bubbler is for when I want to get punched in the face with Vapor. If I don't want to get wrecked I can take a few puffs and be done. It's really great for measuring your dosing.

Truth! Though to clarify as it really isn't clear - when I say better connected to something, I meant something along the lines of MFLB mouthpiece, Crafty/Mighty cooling unit, custom add-on or bubbler or bong and not necessarily specifically one object.

Ah got you, it's pretty versatile. I have tried to use attachments with mine but just end up going native. I guess I do miss combustion, or I just love to feel the dense vapor. It's really an experience I haven't shared with any other vaporizers.

We are all different as to what would be considered harsh. I'm glad that there seems to be less faulty units. I am waiting to see how this vaporizer hold up over a long period of time, like six months or longer.

I know the hopper has a lifetime warranty so that is a plus. I would think eventually that might not be the case. It's expensive for a company to continue that. I could be wrong about that.

I hope it never changes. It's going to take some serious innovation to create something so small with so much power like the GH does. It's hard to fathom someone coming out with a vaporizer that can compete with the GH in its size form.

Welcome fraktal,

it might be...many of us here can contest the transition from smoke to vapor is not always an easy path...I guess it is a matter of waiting for the right day when you wake-up and say fuck it, I am making a change...

Have been reading this thread from day one. Maybe I missed it, but is there anybody that has opened up his unit? Or are the insides of this little critter still a mystery?

Hi tepictoton,

You are asking if anyone has opened up their unit, as in dis-assembly ? ! ? !

Sheesh. That is like handing a sharp knife to the 7 year old boy who lives next door, and asking him if he knows what is inside his new drum.

Not gonna happen at my house, no sirree.

No one has posted a pic of the insides.... But that doesn't mean some of us haven't seen it

Was more out of curiosity hihi maybe someone had a death unit and thaught what the heck lets play doctor for a bit?

soooooo you mean, this thing has been around for some time now, and no one at FC ripped it apart yet? This must be a first hihi

Edit: New rule on FC? The first one to get it has to give us an inside view hihi almost was an unspoken rule, certainly in the case of many many vapes that came before...

If you already have access to the sublimator and cloud evo, you should have some good reference to what the GH will offer you. If having those machines in a super portable form-factor with no need to wait for it to heat up is something that interests you, then the GH is pretty much the closest thing to that.

As others have said, the effect it offers is very subjective but absolutely not the same as smoking.
It is great for replicating past enjoyed methods of consumption, be they rolled or bubbly in nature, but similar method is all it offers. It's its own thing I guess.

@tepictoton No one has posted images of the heater, but the Hopper Labs video on their vimeo page shows a lot of the mechanical and PCB components.
I'm very keen to see what the heater looks like!

Do you mean the GH is the closest thing to a portable Evo or Subliminator that you have tried yourself? I don't see how you can come to the conclusion it is the closest if you haven't tried every portable vape on the market. I would recommend stating this is your opinion, or the closest vape that you personally have tried, because otherwise you are simply framing your opinion as a fact, when you obviously don't have all the evidence to make that claim.

Edit. For example, the Supreme 3 is considered a portable and has a ton more extraction power than the GH.

I figured the same, that's why I was excited about @Kasish 's idea. It seemed like an easy way to cool the vapor without the extra step of a water option.

I was looking around to see if there was something similar that would extend the vapor path even further. Same glass tube design w/ some sort of spiral maybe? No luck so far.

The supreme 3 does look very cool, but no, unfortunately I have not tried it. I wouldn't classify it as a super portable form-factor though... yes what I say is of course my opinion, but I believe what I said to be fact at the time of writing.
A super portable form-factor, near instant vaporizer. The supreme 3 may have better performance, however it is not the size of a pen (in fact, it can't even operate by itself, it requires a torch).
And really all I was trying to convey was what the GH would actually offer @fraktal. All this talk of comparing to smoking, using the GH is still vaping - they are still fundamentally different experiences.
The key thing with the hopper is, it takes a complex procedure and makes it dead simple and quick. That's the key point I wanted to make, not that the hopper is flawless and the best. I don't believe in perfection.

It's interesting you allude to having seen the internal workings!
I suppose reluctance to share images is commendable for the protection of HL's intellectual property?

But I'm sure you could/would/should share more than that

PS. I could still edit my previous post so I have done so, hope it makes more sense now :)

gh honestly has the best extraction capabilities of any vaporizer on the market, especially for the price. this thing is a genius and was designed to be economically sustainable(life time warranty) you wont see this anywhere and i have a good feeling there are great things to come out of ghlabs with due time. They are definitely breaking grounds with their patented heater design, and i don't think there's a company out there that can replicate what a gh can do. Granted yes it's taking them a while to smooth out the kinks, but this device will definitely make any user happy, and will definitely change their usage pattern for better or worse

Ummm, this statement is just not correct. This is simply your opinion, and an incorrect one at that. For example. The Supreme 3 can be had for $122 after emailing Ed AND it will out extract the hopper.

If you have an opinion, please state it as such. There is no best vape for anyone, but stating an opinion as fact or making incorrect conclusions does not benefit the community. My 2 cents.
