Wow did you get yours recently? Bad batch maybe.

I'm sure it will be resolved - just hope no one gets hurt lol.
You're telling me! I sent my email already. Just started a 4 day weekend too. Now, RIP EVO. :(

I got mine last July. Been going strong since.

Did yours look like this?

(You can stop the video when it seems like nothing is happening. I don't know how to edit the video & I was just putting it down)

Yup, pretty much looked like that except mine didn't even have an elb in there. It was just empty, in heat up mode.

Looks like yours had an elb in there unless I'm seeing it wrong.

I've sent my email already as well. Just copied and pasted what I had here and just edited out the"what the hells" and exclamation points lol.

Are you actually saying these nails never come completely clean? I got mine clean once the first week I got it. After that I gave up on getting them clean. Is there anyway to do this? Perhaps using only 1 dab at a time (if you have a 5 pack and the caddy) and then burning off and cleaning with ISO before using it again?

I'm seriously considering buying the Quartz 5 pack and the nail buddy in the next week despite the fact I use Crumble very seldom. The nail that came with my evo finally broke and I have no more nails. I really wish VXL would offer singles as I'm more of a flower person than a concentrate guy but I still want that option available.

I'm hoping Quartz comes clean more easy. It would really suck having dirty nails always on display with my new nail buddy... :(

FYI: My quartz nails get just as dirty and clean as my glass nail.

And FYI: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vapexhale-cloud-evo.11357/page-475#post-962401

Jut sayin'... ;)

Dude, what the HELL is going on. I had the EVO heating up, stepped away, came back there's smoke coming out of the bamboo. I immediately turn it off and it stays on! I unplug it and it stays on! I'm a little worried, not sure what to do with it. I set it outside. See below you can see the LED on, but it's not plugged in.

...IMAGE...

EDIT: Just checked on it and the led is finally off, but the unit extremely hot. That was bizarre! I'm definitely not plugging this thing back in until I can get in touch with VXL on Monday.

That is the runaway overheat. It was a serious issue happening on the launch of international units.
My first EVO was also doing this - I've always turned it off in time, but one day I didn't catch it happening and it overheated liek yours.
@gaseous_clay had the same thing happen and got in on the video.
The red glow you've seen after turning it off and unplugging it is the red from the massive heat the faulty heater generated, not the red LED.
It makes sense as the unit doesn't have any batteries or capacitors so it could remain powered without the cord.
When this overheat happensto this extent, your unit is dead and it will take a while to cool down and stop glowing. You shouldn't touch the unit, it could get insanely hot even to touch on the outside when this happens. I thought this problem was already solved, but it seems like its making a comeback, perhaps in the current batch.

This all makes 100% sense and seems to be exactly what happened. I'll report back what I hear from VXL. Thanks for posting your experience.

Mine overheated like this once. It seems to be fine now, but should I be concerned?

You should look at your bamboo if its shape is still intact. After some overheats that I stopped in time, it didn't kill my unit, but the bamboo got a little deformed about an inch or two below the joint. After a full blown overheat, the bamboo melted with a vapeXnail inside, now I can't take the nail out as the glass melted together, but it would still turn on.
Anyway you should also know that only seeing red glow after you turn it off doesn't necessarily mean overheat happened. At higher temps or when the unit is heating up, you could see a normal red heat glow, hat is not dangerous. When the red glow is brighter than LED itself and the unit is smoking, that's when you definitely know a serious overheat happened.

How does the VXN compare to dabs with a titanium nail?

Is there ever a compelling reason to inhale on anything other than 12?
I tried moving up to 2 after it stops hitting but i don't seem to get any extra hits and it's rougher on my throat.

Maybe 10 or 11 if you're hitting it dry? Seems like 12 is good to go for all circumstances.

I do about 3-4 hits on 12, about 3 hits at 3 shaking the elb every 2 hits or so. I think @macbill suggested this and works great for me.

I'm sure the issue has been mostly resolved in newer units, but it's definitely a weird coincidence that they both happened on the same day. I guess sometimes when it rains it pours. @gaseous_clay You've had your Evo for a while now right, unless I'm mistaken?

I've had the EVO a few days and didn't have any issues before today. The one difference today is that I used an outlet in my garage, pictured below. I didn't think the EVO would be considered a heavy appliance, but I wonder if this was the cause?

Nevertheless, yup starting the ticket now.

You can use that outlet. I installed one for my vapes.

Yes, I agree. Completely safe. That is a "GFCI" (ground fault circuit interrupter) receptacle.

Required by code to be installed by wet areas, but it pretty much keeps track of electrical flow.

I used to do residential .....couldn't hack commercial.....my health wouldn't allow it

Yeah... Got mine back in July.

I'm sitting there watching TV. I go to take a hit & see what looked like a little fire going on inside. Orange isn't a color it should be either. Then, imagine how weird it was to come here to post about it & someone beat me to it!

Friendly reminder to those who have a Hydratube and Standard Mouthpiece - don't forget about the Standard Mouthpiece!! After loving the HT so much, I put the SM back in the box and forgot about it.

Don't do that!! I'm waiting for my HT to dry after a cleaning and ended up using the SM - different but just as awesome. It now gets to stay out of the box (but I need to find a good way to safely display it next to my HT)!!

Last night my EVO definitely went through some thorough testing.

Four people total. 12 dabs, 8 ELBs ( & Lagunitas Lil Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale:cheers:) over the course of about 5 hours.

The first set of dabs were at 11 o'clock each. 1-2 grain rice.
- very flavorful hits and amazing vapor
The second round was at 2 o'clock. 2-3 grain rice.
- Dense Vapor and That flavor kicked it up as well.
The third round was definitely bigger dabs than before. About four or five grain rice I guess, at 4 o'clock.
- Okay, this was so thick of vapor and just powerpunched us. Still great flavor!

Herb Session starting at 2 o'clock moving to 4 towards the end, with 70% filled ELBs'.
- ABV was rich brown haha. That shit was DARK! Didn't combust! But so dark. Very efficient in my opinion.
The second herb session for me was at 11 o'clock, as I  that flavor soooo much!!!
My friends were at 4 all the way as they are more used to combusting.

As far as the nails. I am a bit curious about the oil/wax/crumble (what ever else you may have) liquifying and being pulled out of the nail through the slit and going Into the bamboo.

Note*** we always waited for the vapor to produce before placing the HT and hitting.

Other than that, my experience was a plus! I am already wanting to try new glass with it! Haha

EDIT: I also had trouble with loading back to back. The nail was so hot and the wax was melting away immediately upon loading. Should I just use more nails?

This is great to read. I will be rocking the standard mouthpiece for a few weeks before the tube gets in.

I gotta say...after reading about these recent overheating issues I'm a little freaked out. I would have thought that as long as the evo has been out, vxl would have gotten this issue taken care of. And by taken care of, I mean done everything to ensure it doesn't happen again. It's not like this is a brand new product. A recall wouldn't even surprise me....the overheating issue seems like a pretty serious problem in my mind.

Another thing that concerns me about the overheating issue is the fumes that it puts off. Would it be possible to be hitting the evo and it overheat and you inhale some of those fumes? I'm not familiar with it enough since I just placed an order so I'm not even sure if that possible. I kind of disregarded some of the international units doing this as like an anomaly but now that its happening again has me questioning how well this product is made.

70% filled before putting the cap on?

25-50% full pre cap is what is typically recommended round these parts!
I agree!! But my friends wanted to give it a shot so I thought why not, after all, we were thoroughly testing it haha. 50% is definitely my MAX! Thanks for the direction though!

Imagine a heavy brick, lengthwise, with a power connector sticking out one end.
A long cord coming out the other.

Take this heavy brick and plug it snugly into your evo.
Now the evo cannot be carelessly knocked over and broken because the brick anchors it to any surface.

For use with a whip.
