I assume you did not order and did not want a black cover unit. Otherwise you would already have a shipping confirmation email. So it does sound like the color was more important than getting the first unit available. Unless you contacted firefly, said that you would take black and they still didn't ship. If that is the case you have a valid gripe. If you wanted a red unit and they don't have red yet, then not so much
As we both know there was no option on the initial order page to order whatever color would ship soonest. Are you telling me it looks like color was more important to me since I couldn't predict the future and see that black units would be shipping soonest? What? I just found out that people who ordered weeks after me are getting their units sooner when I checked this thread yesterday. And I was just saying why it made me upset. I understand no company can please everyone, I wasn't swearing at anyone, but it seems really weird that you can't at least sympathize with a fellow community member here.

And yes, I changed my color from blue to black, just to get it early. I'm sure all colors will be shipping soon!
...so hold up, you knew _exactly_ where I was coming from, and you still chose to rail on me? I don't know what has made you see me as such, but I am not your enemy. There's no reason you couldn't have gone with empathy.

The heat is just in general compared to original FF I had a three battery session (8ish bowls) w/friends and just at the end it was indeed hot but not hot enough to hold. Compared to the old FF with much more aluminum? or some sort of heatsink material it used to stay a tad cooler, it does not affect usage anyway. Just something i noted compared to the same sessions i used to do with the OG FF.

The glue taste was def not from the battery as i didn't use that one first round. Because when i tried to pop it out upon opening the box to put a fresh charged battery into the FF2 is when it broke. Like i said it was more noticed by my GF and I barely noticed anything out of the ordinary and it quickly wasn't noticeable by bowl 3.

Also the unit does not pull any air from inside the unit from my experiments covering the ports in the front

The battery door may just be me needing to get used to the full bottom instead of just half, when my top lid isnt seated i usually grab the bottom with my thumb and top w/fingers and slide the lid on which usually pops off the battery cover but I will get used to pushing against the door instead of the direction it unlocks.

Still haven't ordered my FF2 yet. Just going through the checkout and realized that I have to pay tax (Washington) on my order. I noticed the other day that their fax/phone number was a Seattle number, but didn't think much about it since they're based in California. I'm a little frustrated that I'm gonna have to pay an extra $30 if I want to order directly from Firefly. It's not that big of a deal, but it was enough to make me reconsider my options.

Sun of a b it says the app is not compatible with my phone?? Galaxy s4 mini? Really??

It worked with the standard Verizon Galaxy S4 when I tested it. I also just looked on the specs on a phone website, and it looks like the S4 and the S4 mini have the exact same bluetooth hardware installed.

Maybe try restarting the phone, verifying bluetooth is on, and then reinstalling the Firefly 2 battery.

is the play store saying the app in not compatible? (like not even available to download)

If this is the case you may be able to download the app from a 3rd party website and install it.

The google website does say it is android 5.0 and up so that might be another obstacle.

depending on how savvy you are you could try to get it from here...
(do this at your own risk, Ive never got an app from this website)
https://apkpure.com/store/apps/details?id=thefirefly.android

you'll have to allowed unknown sources on your phone. On regular android its in settings under the security settings. I dont know if it's the same on a samsung device.

OK my initial test drive is complete.

I was able to connect the new FF to the app immediately....one cool thing about the app is it allows you to connect multiple devices, so the FF2 prototype is still listed but it recognized the new FF right away. I changed the activation to "both buttons" since it defaults to "either" and was ready to roll. I used exactly .12 g's of my all-time favorite strain (The Big, don't get me started....), mostly un-ground, just small chunks of bud. I packed it fairly tight and it filled the bowl fairly completely.

I started on Med/High and stirred every three hits. I got great vapor right away....the lights flashed four times and the device was ready. I moved up to High around hit #20...and that's where the hits started to fade. I slapped the concentrate pad on top of the bowl at hit 24, and got another 6 large-ish hits to take me to about 30 hits. For .12 g's, that is pretty damned good, especially considering over 20 of those were quite large.

The improvements over the FF1 are stark: great vapor right away, consistent performance, really easy use (almost no learning curve), lighter, smaller, no damn screen to worry about!, gets way less hot at its hottest, cleaner, simpler, temp control....you get the picture. (As with the prototype, flavor is equal to the FF1, but again, a tad less cool than the FF1...this might be my only negative vs. the 1.)

As for differences from the prototype version, there are a few worth noting, beyond the obvious fit/finish issues:

  • Draw is less restricted. It's still a bit restricted but way less than the prototype, most definitely "airier" without sacrificing vapor quality.
  • Mouthpiece is more stable.
  • It seems to reach and retain target heat better. The prototype would require another "wait" time cycle on the second hit...the production model hits the temp after the first hit and unless you put it down for ten minutes you can pick it up and have instant target heat. Very nice!
  • The bowl seems to have a redesign...the bottom edge has almost no gap, so debris can't really get under it. (Man I love the screenless bowl...such a huge improvement.)
Overall, as impressive as I'd hoped the final version would be, at least in my initial use. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks.

Thanks for the info. That's damn amazing that you got 30 hits with .12 g!

Regarding the vapor coolness - I never tried the FF1, but the Pax (1 and 2) always gave me a sore throat with its hotter vapor. The Crafty/Mighty is much better for me in that regard. Is the FF2 cooler than Pax?

This thing looks great, if they had a bubbler attachment it'd be an instant buy for me. Nothing a little tubing couldn't fix though i suppose... :brow:

These clowns are really trying to fight me for a refund are you fucking serious? do these bozos know how shipping in the USA works? I'm going to write refused with the biggest fucking black marker i can find. I will be getting a refund..

Good luck to who ever has theirs and plans on keeping it.. I wouldnt ever wanna send a warranty claim to these people

I understand the frustration with waiting but I don't understand the hostility toward Firefly. They promised shipping in May and have come through. You will be getting your firefly as early or earlier than promised. There was never a commitment to ship in the exact order that orders were placed. They only said that preorders would ship first, which they are.

I guess the big question is what do you propose that they should have done when certain colors were delayed? Would you propose that they delay everyone else's order so no one is butt hurt that they weren't the first to get theirs?

I found out that you could get it possibly early by asking Firefly same way as you, thru this awesome forum. The ones that got an email from firefly regarding black being available early were nice enough to post that info here. I just asked firefly if they and any extra units that I would be glad to take black instead of blue. Firefly didn't owe me anything but late May delivery. Did you try to contact them and get a black one when you could have just as easily, since you found out about it here? If you had I would think that you would have heard back positively from Firefly.

...so hold up, you knew _exactly_ where I was coming from, and you still chose to rail on me? I don't know what has made you see me as such, but I am not your enemy. There's no reason you couldn't have gone with empathy.

So hold up. You knew about this whole black shipping early thing, from this forum. Could have just as easily emailed them and done the same thing. Sorry if that logic was "railing" on you. Meant no harm at all. Just sounded so petty is all. We will all have em soon enough so there's that

And I hope that either you have contacted firefly to see if they have any extras or have already had yours shipped.

FF2 is gonna win that matchup, tbh... $330 vape vs. $200 vape...
Why do you think so? Hopper has more precise temps and is totally self contained, plus smaller (and smaller spare batteries) and doesn't look exactly like a pot-smoking device, and yeah is $130 cheaper or more. I expect the FF2 to win on flavor and heat build up, but $130 better? Seem tied in bowls/battery. I want the FF2 to be dramatically better in some respect, looking forward to some head-to-head comparisons.
