Herb Grinders

Nice! I wouldn't be against the idea of getting one of the grinders I mentioned above + the OEM one.

So I guess I'm now debating between the one max linked (the 4pc one) or a 2pc one that Nycdeisel mentioned, since I'll probably just buy the OEM one as well.

Something I find funny...

I get the majority of my herbal infos from this site and all you kick ass users... so back towards the beginning of the year, I got a 2 piece SC medium. It's nice, but not for the LB really. However, I do pre-grind with it, as it's a bigger size and doesn't irritate my big hands as much as spinning a tiny grinder does.

So I pre-grind in the SC and then fine-grind in the tiny cosmic, which is just a bit bigger than the OEM grinder that recently started turning heads around here.

Now, that's $50 worth of grinders right there... good grinders.

Neither of them do a damned thing compared to that bright orange eye-sore that comes with the Volcano... amazes me. And irritates me haha.

The vast majority of grinders have a magnet. It's really not a big deal, but does help to keep it together when it's bouncing around somewhere and not sitting calmly on a nice flat surface. I've got a 4 pc. with no magnet (really rare in a 4 pc.) and since it stays in my house on the shelf where I put it, no problem at all. But when you're carrying one around in a pocket or something, a magnet comes in handy to keep the top on.

If you're grinding for the LB you want a really fine grind, and the only way to get that with a 4 pc. is to grind upside down, so the herb stays in the grinding section and doesn't drop through the holes. If you also grind for other vapes or for smoking, AND want to screen kief at least some of the time, a 4 pc. makes for a good choice if you only want to buy one grinder. Ideally, for the LB, get a mini 2 pc. like the MF grinder, Head Chef Mini, or MixnBall Nano. They're all about 1.2" in diameter and do a great job of grinding really fine. You can get the 2.25" or 2.5" 4 pc. Sharp Crusher AND one of the mini 2 pc. models above for considerably less than the price of one high end 4 pc. like Mendo, Cosmic, Space Case. The Mendo, in particular, is a poor choice for a fine grind. The teeth are designed for cutting rather than grinding-great for a really quick coarse grind, but not for the LB. Even the Mendo 1.5" 2 pc. does a lousy job if you want a fine grind. I've bought all of these expensive models in a 4 pc., at some point, and none of them does any better job than the inexpensive Sharp Crusher. You can pay a little more and get a Chromium Crusher or Sharpstone. They're made in the same place, of the same aluminum, as the Sharp Crusher. They're no better either. They just cost more.

I think it would be a lot easier to stick to a 2 piece as many do if they want herb prepared for certain vaporizers.

First lets agree to disagree, I wont argue which grinder is best or whatever, because most people have a combination of grinders to do the job(especially for the MFLB!)

I use a SMALL 2 piece SC, which can grind somewhat finer then the same in medium size. From there, if I want it for the MFLB, it goes into the OEM grinder.

expensive 4 piece grinders are def not worth it for this purpose.

I went with a small 2 piece SC and the OEM grinder. Can't wait till they get here

How is the durability of the metal on the SharpCrusher? I read that it scratches real easily.

This statement goes against the general consensus of what I have read online. I agree though, which was why I was split between the expensive brands and the affordable ones.

Glad to see that I am not the only one that uses two grinders to get the fine-grind needed for my MFLB. I use a non-branded nice metal 2piece one and then transfer it into the tiny MFLB grinder and call it a day.

Sometimes I use my 4-piece and flip it upside down and force the herb to stay in the chamber and be ground very finely, but I don't really use that grinder often anymore.

I drilled 3mm holes in a Volcano grinder - takes maybe 6 turns and a perfect grind starts appearing in the storage compartment. Holes aren't necessary, but it does ensure a consistent grind every time. Consistency like a decent coffee grinder provides! Hands down the best vapor grinder in my opinion, I've tried many over the years and the Volcano grinder is the best and one of the cheapest ;-)

Is it coincidence that you sell the Volcano grinder at a VERY healthy markup ( $10.00.... which is higher than almost anyplace!!) on your website?

I rate those plastic grinders pretty highly too. Maybe the vendor also thinks it's the best, and hence stocks that for the customer? And transport of stock to Oz can't be cheap= higher retail? $10/6.50 doesn't seem that bad to me (with shipping it's 0.50 more than ebay). I dunno, seems the only one model on his site. Surely less mark up on a $10 plastic grinder than a $50 branded CNC? It would be a strong recommendation indeed if the trader also sold a full range of CNC grinders and still pushed the $10 model, but then some shops don't sell what they don't believe in.

But it is a pretty good shot a getting Friedriceys business gotta be some benefits for vendors I suppose

Any non anodized aluminum grinder scratches easily. I don't know why anyone would pick on a particular brand/model with a comment like that. Shiny aluminum is still going to look better, long term, than some of the anodized/coated grinders, if the coating gets scratched or chipped. I've heard people complain about how the looks of the Space Case Ti doesn't hold up over time. If you want an anodized coating that holds up and totally resists light scratches, MixnBall can't be beat. Their 4 pc. models are pricy though, and I wouldn't pay that much just for scratch resistance.

It's a bitch to pay as much for shipping as the grinder costs, but you're still not gonna find a better deal. Other brands are gonna cost more, and even if you save $ on shipping from another source, your final price will still be more. In your situation/location, I'd buy the Sharp Crusher every time. If you want to save a couple of bucks, get the 2.25" size. You won't notice much difference, as far as capacity. 2.25" SC

I really wish mix'n'ball would restock their 4,5 and 7 piece grinders [actually all of them are sold out now :/] How long have they been outta stock now? Well over a year. I contacted MNB about a month ago asking when they will be restocking their surplus and got a response saying in about a month or two. I would really like to get my hands on a 5 piece MNB. I been loving the 2 piece I got. So much so I bought another. Better than both Space Case grinders I own hands down. Finer grind and more resilient finish.

Omg thats horrible...

I have iso washed my space case titanium multiple times and that has never happened. Mine is black, or maybe its just the color of the titanium, i dont know. But never has anything like that happen.

Holy shit that's nasty! I never saw the point of colored grinders anyway, is it worth possibly introducing extra contaminants into your herb just so you can have a purdy grind in your favorite color? Wonder what Areospaced has to say about this garbage? Probably nothing...

It was and still is advertised as being anodized, which obviously it is not.

Your SC Ti is truly anodized. This one was more like spray paint. I too own several SC grinders and you shouldn't have any issues like this.

I wanted a small grinder. Their nano seems perfect. Even after reading here of all the problems people have had ordering from them, I made the mistake of ordering one. The webpage said they are in stock...and still does. Two weeks later, and nothing. No grinder, no email saying it's been shipped, and certainly no response to my emails asking what's up.

Yeah their customer service sucks. Doesn't make sense when you have a good product like that.

Might still be 'nothing' after two months.

I like the Nano, and if you could actually get one from mixnball in a reasonable amount of time, it would be a good deal. But EDIT's price is $15+ and ends up close to $20 if you're in the US. I really like their Head Chef Mini (same size) and it's under $11 including shipping and currency conversion fee. And unlike with the Nano, you get a center magnet. Head Chef Mini

I got a Space Case Titanium 2 years ago. I got it in medium size, I'm not a fan of small grinders, I prefer to use my palms to grind, not my fingers haha!
It is hands down the best grinder I have ever owned/used. The teeth are still as sharp as ever and it has never once failed to completely shred up any fat nugs I've fired into it. It's been dropped over and over again but it's still fine, I've even brought it to Amsterdam with me more than once. I'd definitely buy another if this one got lost/stolen.

After a few months of super intensive use I regret to inform everyone that my kannastor 2.5" 4 pc has thrown a tooth. It was a clear top version, and boy did I love it!
Unfortunately one of the teeth in the clear top bent over and took gouges out of it's comrades on the other half..
I have contacted Kannastor already hoping they will replace it for me! Will keep everyone posted on what happens!

In the mean time does anyone have any experience with the Cali Chrusher brand. I picked up a 4pc 2.5 from eBay for a bit under $25 which will be the main grinder until the kannastor is back in action

Hey all. I just received my first vaporizer today (MZ aka Moaning Myrtle ), and I got a nice grinder a few days back in preparation for it. After much deliberating with myself I decided to go with the Sharp Crusher. I got it here for about $25 with expedited shipping. I am very pleased with the purchase.

I decided to get this one because it was of a heavier metal (that crazy zinc/steel alloy); the lightness of the aluminum's turned me off. 4 piece, magnet, nylon, all the stuff one could want. For 25 bucks, this thing has payed for itself in spades already. I can't believe the amount of kief its collecting. Though, I would prefer it had smaller holes as I believe a finer grind is better (not powder though), but that is not a big deal. I really see no reason to invest in a titanium Space Case for ages yet because this will last for quite some time. Of course, if I have some spare cash I'll probably pick one up anyway

All in all, I'm loving this thing.

There are very few grinders with holes smaller than 5-6mm. If you want a finer grind just turn it upside down and grind longer.

I really see no reason to invest in a titanium Space Case for ages yet because this will last for quite some time.

I'd be surprised if you wear it out, and if you don't like the weight of an aluminum grinder you won't like the titanium SC either. It's just anodized aluminum.

I'm going with the Sharp Crusher as well. I don't really see the point of paying $90 for a grinder where a $25 one can function just as well and is comparable in quality.

Even the 'best' grinders fail. That certainly makes my decision a lot easier.

If it scratches easily doesn't that mean that it'll leave metal shavings behind?

With the spacecase I haven't experienced or read any problems. Same with the Cosmic grinder.

It was a good shot because I did look at his shop. Unfortunately I'm not too interested in another plastic grinder though.

I'm just looking for a heavy grinder so I can use it for self defence.
