Are you using the FINE plate in the Gr8tr? I've seen the grinds in person for both of these grinders, and I see an obvious difference. The SCS 3 piece is much coarser than the Gr8tr using the fine plate. With the coarser gr8tr plate, it is more similar. So nice that the Gr8tr has the flexibility. There are also pics of both somewhere in this thread, which illustrates it as well.

Could it be your material? I know if the buds are dry and dense the contrast can be less noticeable.

Easy enough to get any grind you want with a 2 piece. Just grind less for coarser grind, more for finer. Easy to grind differently for different vapes, too.

Can see how 3 piece could be appealing if you're not collecting kief, but then you are still grinding to whatever the grinder does unless you grind upside down. I still have several 4 piece grinders I never really use. Think I'd rather just have all the kief right when I grind. Just grind and dump into a little dish or whatever you like. Grind small batches and nice to have something to cover it to keep out light, dust, pet hair, whatever. The more airtight the better. Or, put your grind into a little airtight container. I usually use little jars/bottles/bead tins when on the go. Use a tiny funnel when needed.

Probably only around 2-3 oz lol, how about you? :p

It is pretty gunked up when it's time for a clean though!

So we have the same cleaning schedule then . Mind you after that much the SLX looks like any other grinder after a 1/2 has been put through it so it is all relative.

Wow, I know I've complained a lot already so this will be my last post.

I am really flustered with EZvapes and their poor customer service. I've called and left a message, emailed several times, and I still have no idea what is going on with my order.

I would caution people against ordering vape equipment from EZvapes.com in the future as this purchasing experience has been unacceptable. The lack of communication is shocking along with the fact my money is gone.

Really starting to feel like I got scammed, as all evidence points towards it.

@Winegums after you posted this I found this review thread.

A lot of reviews with quite a few unhappy customers. Let us know what finally happens with your purchase.
Thanks for the reply. It's really unfortunate the way they handle business.

I called once more and the phone rang twice then went to voice mail... Seems like they don't want to talk to me, as that's a clear indication that someone saw the number and sent it to voice mail.

Try using the online chat window on their site. They always replied within a few minutes, the few times I used it. Just yesterday I asked if they had any Kannastor Storage Pucks and got a reply within a minute.

I am beginning to think that the "conversation" I had with them online is the reason I got my GR8TR in a SEMI-timely manner. :2c:

Time for me to clean my Space Case. Any advice about the best way to do this? I read that there is a Grunge Off for metal, but I have to belief there's a DIY method that would be considerably less expensive. I have the four-piece titanium model. Thank you!

PS What do I do with the "pollen?"

Isopropyl alcohol, a tooth pick and a tooth brush are my go to tools for cleaning.

Ensure that the only listed ingredients are water and alcohol.

PS What do I do with the "pollen?"

The pollen is called kief which is the result of dry sifting. This is rich with trichomes which contain the majority of the cannabiniods in the bud,( making kief quite potent). Sprinkle it on a bowl load for an extra kick, press it into pucks, squish it into rosin, melt it into oil for edibles, etc. Almost anything you can use bud for you can use kief as a replacement in smaller quantity.

I would save that kief for 420 and get blasted.

I knew there had to be a secret handshake or something! Thank you, George1151.

Since I can't risk stinking up my house by employing the boiling method, I opted for the cold alcohol method. Worked great! Just took a toothbrush, some toothpicks, and a few Q-Tips plus a little elbow grease, and my SC looks brand new again. I don't think it was terribly dirty, but since it wasn't working smoothly, I'm glad I got it in shape to do its job well again.

Just received my gr8tr Jar Grinder. Since I hadn't seen the video on how to use it it took me a few minutes to figure out how to put it together. What I missed was how to store the extra grinder plate inside the top. So for anyone getting one I suggest looking at their video to see how to put it together and get the most out of it.

I hadn't realized that you could take out the jar section with the screen and make it much smaller, perfect for being out and about.

I have only ground a small amount (and tried it of course) and I feel very skeptical saying this but I think my clouds from a Haze are almost twice as dense as using my crank 4 piece. Even though it doesn't look much finer than from my other grinder, I wonder if there was more material in the can (Haze) than before. I loaded and packed it pretty much as usual so either the "fluff" its supposed to give you adds something to the way it vapes or I put in more material because it was finer.

Either way I didn't expect to see much of a difference (granted I have only used it for 1 can).

Seems to be a quality product with some nice innovations. Expensive but hopefully I won't need another grinder for awhile.

Perhaps the "fluff" provided a little more airflow than your old grind. That may account for the larger clouds.

After using the GR8TR for a few weeks with several strains. I can say that while my grind is not any fluffier than it was with my Santa Cruz Shredder, it is A LOT more consistent. With the SCS the grind ranged from powder to chunks. This was probably the result of having to use it upside down to get a more vape friendly grind.

Still loving the fact I can now grind right side up!

Been playing around a bit with my new toy the Gr8tr Jar Grinder. Couple of things strike me although I have not ground much material with it yet.

Stuff sticks around in the top part of the grinder ie not everything falls down into the screen or container, some bits and pieces stick around on top of the grinding plate. More twisting, shaking etc so far has not brought this stuff down through the holes. Maybe 10% of total grind. Found that the grinder plate was a bit loose in the holder so that might be part of it but unsure if I didn't fully tighten it when I put it together or it loosened up with a few uses. After tightening and more twisting the stuff was still on top. Really have to try it again with more bud and fully screwed.

I think I like it with the jar and kief screen part removed thus making it the same as a Vape Gr8tr. I sort of like mixing the kief with the ground material and loading that rather than separating plus I like how the scoop I use (not the guitar pick they give you) works in the metal shallow bottom puck and it's smaller.

Jar would be good for larger amounts and those who want to separate their kief.

Still glad I spent a bit more and got the jar version instead of the Vape simply because it gives me more options and it has the additional coarser grinding plate which is similar in hole size to most of the "regular" grinders I have seen.

Haven't tried it upside down yet, that was one thing I didn't like about my other grinder, the fact that it only worked work when it was upside down and double ground.

One more thing. Yesterday I said I felt that the vapor production was much better than with my other crank 4 piece, after several more uses I can confirm that indeed the thickness and production of vapor has definitely increased. Sessions last longer too. I wasn't expecting this.

My SCS and other grinders have always left some material in the grinding area. This is especially true with stickier strains. I have always used a grinder brush to sweep it into the lower compartment.

With the GR8TR I still get some material that does not go through the holes, but it is easily swept into the jar/sifting compartment. The great thing is that there are usually only a few crumbs stuck to the top grinding teeth and no pockets of impacted keif caked all over the sides. Brushing out the caked material always took time and made a mess.

I have been experimenting with keeping a nug in the top storage area and breaking off pieces roughly the size of a marble to grind for the evening. The grind size/consistency is the same as I get when grinding an entire nug.

Don't think it matters too much. Clear you can see what is inside, metal feels a bit stronger. Ground herd doesn't seem to stick to the sides which is nice. I think I prefer the grinder without either to tell you the truth. Price is $20 more than the Vape and you get the different grinder plate and the jar and screen.

That's a good deal. Costs more in Canada and no free shipping plus taxes.

One thing I am noticing is that with the finer grind I may be breathing in particles in my Haze that I wasn't with my old grinder. I use the cans with the silicon lids and plan on getting some new cans with the perforated steel lids.

While I am still very happy with my second SCS purchase, I do have one gripe... the new models have the pollen collection chamber curved, which may be aesthetic but really makes collection much more difficult with the included triangle scrapper... perhaps a scraper that matched the curves of the collection chamber might be more helpful.
