Well, I haven't ever done this before, but now I have a screen hopelessly jammed into the Pax2 chamber. I've tried gentle prying techniques with various tiny tools, and I've also try banging it, chamber down, onto a folded towel on my kitchen counter. Nothing is moving that screen.

Any suggestions?
Get yourself some metal picks, like used at fingernail places

Thank you, vnsmkr. I have one of those. I'll try it now.

Nope. Even that won't fit between the chamber wall and the screen. It is jammed down in there. I wonder if I just "sacrifice" the screen by using a tack hammer and something flat-headed to try to flip it up on one end? It will probably bend the screen, but at this point, I am willing to buy another just to get this one out.

OK, that worked. But the screen is trash. Anyway, if anyone ever has this problem, you can do what I did. Just know that there's no way you can use that screen again. I'm not lending the Pax2 out again! That's how this happened...

run that same pick thru the other end forcing the screen out. f*ck the screen. Small loss

Hey guys, could anyone who owns the PaxCaps tell me which diameter they have, when they are uncompressed? I don't live in the states and would be happy to avoid paying oversea shipping for two vinyl caps :-)

Sorry to hear of your troubles. From your description it's not clear if the screen turned sideways in the oven. If not, get a "cake tester". That's a long metal pin that you can use through the air path to push the screen out. Before you do that, heat up your pax2. Sounds like resin has hardened and is acting like glue. The heat will soften it up.

If all else fails, you can pm @Ojan_at_PAX for his help/suggestions. I'm sure he can help with a solution.

Good luck!

@Mr. Me2 is spot on.
I'll add that any firm rod (oops!) can suffice. Use as a ramrod inserted from mouthpiece end. Sometimes a pipe cleaner can work but they often just bend. I cut a length from a wire coathanger, smoothed the rough ends and have had it in my Pax kit for years now. And yes, warmth and small amounts of iso to soften.
Regular cleaning, including remove/replace of screen, is essential to happy Pax'ing.

A simple and easy solution would be to try using the inside of a bic ballpoint pen (other brands available), just push that down the vapor path (mouthpiece end) ejecting the oven screen. I'd advise that you don't push the plastic pen insert through whilst the oven is hot!

Daang some of these suggestions are making me nervous! Forcing the screen out isn't a good idea, and I've heard/seen too many horror stories of the device being irreparably damaged because of it.

Rubbing alcohol and patience are your friends in this kind of situation. Remove your mouthpiece and oven lid, then set your PAX upside down on a towel with the oven facing up at you. Grab a cotton ball or paper towel, saturate it in rubbing alcohol, and shove it in the oven. Now go watch Netflix or something and check back in 30 minutes. Remove what's in the oven, dip a pipe cleaner in rubbing alcohol, and thread it through from top to bottom - press firmly to try and dislodge the screen. If no luck, repeat the soaking step and then try pushing again. It will come out eventually once the residue holding it in place breaks down. Taking the cotton/paper towel out of the oven and heating it up can help too, but don't use a tool stiffer than a pipe cleaner.

Thx for the tips on how to do it right, Ojan!

My wonderful girlfriend surprised me with a gift of a vented lid and pusher for my pax2 this weekend. It's a nice accessory, well made and very easy to use.

The funny thing is I honestly haven't seen any difference using it with the ovens I've packed, all at varying levels of fill, in terms of airflow and efficiency. Much more testing to be done for sure, :), but my first inclination is that there isn't any real improvement so far.

This doesn't sound right. Airflow should be noticably different, and you should be going just as long on less; let me know how your testing goes.

Hey @NewVape710, I never really experienced poor airflow from the Pax 2 to begin with so it could be that the vented lid is operating just as desired. I have had some better results with smaller packs, however!

I also have never had an issue with airflow, I think it is technique issue.

I have had friends say they can't get s hit, I take it from them and get a massive cloud.

Pax 2, my first vaporizer.
One guestion. Screen doesnt fit on to the oven strait. Its little bit sideways. Should I push harder, or is there some trick to get it strait?
Thanks

Dont worry...joining fc is the first step to discovering you have a problem.

Besides who needs combustion anyway? I say fuck it. The pax2 is a great first vape BTW.
I have had problems since i was 12 ;)... Not that i am any older now, mentally.
Problems are made the be resolved and thats what pax has done for me, for now.
Question: what is the vented lid that someone was talking about? does it make the airflow any better or can you halfpack the oven with it?

thanks

IMO it's an expensive solution to a cheap problem...a rolled up pipe screen will allow you to half pack and the restriction is still the same.

If the draw resistance it too hard, use a pipe screen on the bottom of the oven instead of the flat screen...it will greatly increase airflow, but reduce cloudage.

I have the NEWVAPE "vented oven lid". But I also have the "oven screen" and "pusher". My experience? I didn't found the "vented lid" useful for the moment... but if you still have the standard PAX2, the NEWVAPE "3D oven screen" will dramatically change your experience (more airflow, less cleaning) and with the add of the "pusher" you'll have a new vaporizer: a PAX2+! And the possibility to half pack the oven as you said, and with great results. And if you add the "reclaim rod", you don't really need anything else... and maybe no other portable vaporizer for your entire life. The standard oven screen is simply low profile anyway... and doesn't honor the high quality of this device.
Last but not least... I must mention the great "waterpipe adapter" by 3D Delta Studios. I use it as a mouthpiece: it doesn't improve airflow, but gives you more "extraction power"... and turns your PAX in a sort of Chylum.
