Hello, fellow FC'ers.

I'm on a search for a vaporizer that my wife, who is technologically challenged, can use without my help.

Her favorite vaporizer currently is the Herbalizer, due to the flavorful and cool vapor, but like every other that we've tried, it's just too complicated for her to use without help (yeah, I know, I know.....).

I had a FF1, which she also liked for the flavor, but she struggled with getting a good hit, so I gave it to my daughter who was in need of a vaporizer.

She's tried my ESV, which is almost a no-brainer once it's dialed in, but there is a bit of technique related to loading and speed of draw, that she has been unable to master.

I bought a couple of VapCaps, thinking she could handle an analog device, but no such luck (though the Ti Woody is seeing daily use from me, so no regrets there).

After following a number of threads, for both unreleased and currently available models, I think the FF2 may be the answer. Of course, I'd have to handle the Bluetooth side of things, but I believe that once it's dialed in to her preferences, I'd be done.

What say you; Is the FF2 the answer for her, keeping in mind her need for ease of use and minimal complexity, or would you care to make another recommendation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
One thing you have to decide first is where will she be vaping when you're away? home or out and about. If she will mostly be home then a plug-in model might be better. Many are easy to use.

For plug ins I would recommend the enano from epicvape. It is an all-time favorite and has one of (or the) most hits in the plug-in section of this site.

Another good one for her might be a whip style like the vaporbrothers hands-free desktop. An old-time classic.

Take a look. They are very easy to use once you set the dial to where you want it.

If it is a portable then maybe look at the Solo.

BTW, I like the Vapcap too but that is a tough one for someone needing to learn to use a torch. The firefly's are nice too but there is a lot of prying the cover off and fiddling with it. I hardly ever use my FF that much anymore.

I feel most any conduction style vape should work for her. Most are load turn on and wait to heat then draw. Most offer multiple heat settings.
My ascent is one of the easiest to use that I have. If you want to spend top dollar go crafty or mighty. If you want to save a little and still get top quality look at the Boundless models. I think convection style vapes usually take a little more technique to them. IMO.
However I think the ff2 could work well for a lot more people then the ff1 did. It has more heat and I feel that was one of the OG's biggest drawbacks of course these are my own opinions.
At least you have a partner that shares in your partaking. Kudos to the Mrs RelaxedNow. Good luck on the next sweet purchase. You definitely have an AWSOME "problem". Most men have to hide, justify, take a load of shit from the Mrs when we(ahem) they try to purchase new vapes. Lucky!!!!

Love the Solo or Air. I use my Solo more - simplicity. If you need a desk style what about an Enano - simplicity is the name of the game with either of these.

I don't like anything that's too complicated or too many parts. With the Solo she wouldn't even need to worry about inserting any batteries. All of those have an all glass air path, which I like. Unfortunately glass breaks.:2c:

I was thinking along the same lines.... A log vape is pretty much ready to go at any time once it's plugged, warmed, and dialed in. Aside from cleaning and adjusting the screen every once in while, it's minimal maintenance. Stems would need to be cleaned but that's going to be the case with any vaporizer. You could get a few just to rotate out and keep them fresh. The air/solo is a great choice too.

For portable flame based vapes, how 'bout a lotus? Fairly simple as it's just like hitting a bowl... but with a cap on it!

Thanks all, for your replies thus far.

It seems I should have provided more information in my original post; mainly the fact that my wife is not a session vaper. She will usually stop after just 2 or 3 hits. Therefore, I think the way to go is convection, if there is one that meets the simplicity test, or, if there's a conduction unit that can handle small loads without bothering with concentrate pads or other fillers.

School me.

The CFX? Apparently it handles small loads, and heat up time makes it possible to give it a few hits and turn off... Haven't used one but that that I gather from the thread. There is also the smaller CF without LED screen which could be even easier for a techtard.

Solo/air hands down then.imo. All she would need to do is remove stem in between hits. Might take a few min. to warm up but it would/could check every box as far as needs and wants. However the enano or any log vape would also check every box and same goes about removing stem In between hits. And most people leave them on all day if not 24/7 so there's no wait. Not to mention they are almost works of art as far as build quality and such.

My favorite is the miniVAP. Pure convection so you can stop anytime and come back later. Superb flavor.
Can use as AC desktop or attach the battery for portable use. Very efficient with herb.

Downside: 7 minutes to warm up but all you have to do is remember to turn it on, make a cold drink, answer a question on FC... and it's good to go.
I love the miniVAP Flexicone baskets. For me, they're best loading system ever. You could even preload some for her. 3 seconds to load into miniVAP.
Pick one of 4 temps. For a bubbler, 3 seconds to add adapter like below for ultimate moisturized vapor.

Plus, if you still have Herbie, the Flexicone baskets work in Herbie too

^^This^^ is simple, efficient, reliable and easy to clean. Have used it exclusively for about 20 months and don't even want anything else.

I wish you and your wife luck finding the right vape for her.

While it's not on demand, and it has a huge bowl, it does do well with small loads and the crucible can be easily adjusted for loading and while you state you don't want to mess around with pads, a simple domed screen goes a long way!
Seems the GH would be perfect for her... One day!

i do agree with every post on this so far, and would like to add :nothing easier than a Mighty.
just one button which is big and orange, she has to push.long or short, quick or fast draws, it just doesn't matter, it produces anyway!:love::clap:
And i know where you're coming from brother, love to bits though!:worms::tinfoil:.

One of my friends has a Mighty, and I have to agree that it is probably the easiest device I've tried. And, I think my wife could even handle the temp settings. However, he's on his 5th unit in 18 months, so I'm not inclined to get on that train. S&B has given him a new unit each time, but that's just too much hassle to enter into knowingly.

It's come down to the following criteria;
1) Ease of operation, in terms of the electronics.
2) Loading must be simple, i.e. the amount, grind type, and packing, must not be critical to achieving at least moderate clouds
3) Sessions not required, so it must be either convection, or conduction that can handle a partially loaded bowl.
4) Draw strength must not be critical
5) Must be reasonably cool without using glass
6) Decent battery capacity (oh, yeah, plugins are disqualified, as we don't want to deal with a cord while using)
7) Removable battery preferred, but not required if capacity similar to the Mighty or better.
8) Fast heating....under a minute. We're both too impatient to wait for a log, and too cautious to leave a heater plugged in and turned on at all times

With all of this considered, I narrowed it down to (not necessarily in this order:
1) Mighty....if I can get past the concern about warranty returns
2) Firefly 2....seems to meet all of the criteria, if initial reviews hold up
3) Boundless CFX.....some concern about durability, only because it hasn't been on the market long, and possibly gets a bit warm if more than a few draws
4) Boundless CF......because it's simpler than the CFX, and appears to work just as well, but same concern about heat and durability

One of the 4 choices has warranty issues, and the other 3 are unproven. Damn, this is hard. So, I'm gonna take a stab at it, and have emailed Firefly with a couple of questions, just to make sure I order the needed accessories. In the end, as I said above, FF2 seemingly meets all of the criteria, and I'm willing to take a chance on it satisfying her needs.

It seems I've gone full circle, and ended up going with my original thought. I really appreciate all of the input, as the conversation helped me clarify my thoughts.

Thanks to everyone who posted!

You've sort of decided but please take another look at the Mighty. I suggested miniVAP which nails all those criteria except heatup time.

Mighty is best choice for me from your list by a longshot. Recent Mightys have been much improved on reliability. Easy to use, cool cool hits.

FF2-consider that FF1 was a very unreliable piece with many battery issues and ??? FF2 has claimed to deal with all those but talk is cheap. Needs to prove that over time. FF1 took a lot of tchnique. FF2 claims not so much technique is needed ???
----FF2 recommends hand torn material. You listed any grind/load will work

Ease of use for an on-demand quick(or slow) 2-3 hits I'd buy her an Underdog and some nylon stems, so simple just suck a little herb into the stem then drop the stem into the heater core and take hits 'til finished then blow out the AVB and done. No real technique needed, nothing high tech to intimidate, just simple pleasure.

:peace: EDIT (opps just saw your post above about no cords but still believe you ought to consider an Underdog)

@MinnBobber, do you know if S&B replaces units with or rebuilt? If new, I'd still be concerned, because my buddy has had his replaced twice within the last 3 months.

I'll keep my eye out for your updates once she gets her new vaporizer. Good choice and even if she doesn't like it at least you'll be getting a new DD.

I think their replacements depend on what they find. A very few have had their original guts/innards transplanted to new outer if the issue was broken fins etc but many seemed to report getting an entirely new Mighty.
And it seems to vary a lot for Euro S&B vs US S&B, with consensus being that Euro provides the better customer service experience.

I don't have anything new to add but I thought I'd share my opinion as a technologically impaired female. If the FF2 requires some kind of help from you then it really isn't going to be something she can do alone. If it doesn't need to be portable the Underdog is truly foolproof. I know the enano is loved by many people but when I want to use something totally brainless I use my UD and not the Enano. All you need to do is plug it in the wall. Wait a while. Put some herb in one of the glass or silicone tubes that come with it, put that in the section designed for the tube and inhale. I prefer the small silicone tube. Once she gets used to it adding water will be pretty easy.
For a portable the Solo is very much like a log vape. You heat it briefly, put the stem with herb in it and inhale. It's not as simple as an Underdog and unless she needs a portable, I think the UD is the easiest to start with. From there the Solo would be easy to learn.
I chose not to get the Mighty because it looks too complicated for me. My solo is a few years old and is problem free. It's also healthy because there's little residual left.
My CFX is coming tomorrow so I'll have a better idea about how that works.

Solo, shorty PVHES stem and screen... And suffer the slightly longer heat up time? To be honest I'm not sure if all your criteria can be ticked, maybe within the next 12months, but then again like others have mentioned with the reliability/warranty issues being important. Nothing is certain on an unreleased vape.
Depending on how small a load the CF can actually do it might be the best existing vape for your criteria. New vape too so you'll have to check the thread for reliability reports so far, also the company seem good to deal with.

Don't know why you have a no cords policy unless you plan on moving around a lot. One more thing to consider about the UD is that there is 0 heat up time if you leave it plugged in. I use mine with the small copper aromatherapy bowl when I'm not vaping.
And, as others have mentioned, the solo. It sounds like money is not an issue for you but it is much less money than the mighty which doesn't seem so technologically simple. I think I read somewhere that the crafty has fewer problems and is a bit simpler to use.

Any mj buddies near you getting a FF2 so she can try b4 you buy??

My only concern is if she cannot handle the Herbie (I have one too) where you turn it on and if temp is set you need do nothing but inhale from whip, period. No stirring ever needed. Any grind is ok. No technique is needed.
Do you do bags??

FF2 requires finger on button, hold for a few seconds til warm, keep hold while inhaling, release.
Vape Critic review says it needs stir after every couple draws (shake/tap unit).
FF2 technique seems minor but seems more than herbie.

Let us know what happens
