So I see that Puffitup.com has a Hercules SR-71 with a 510 thread available. I spoke with someone in chat and they said this was a newer model than the SR-74x. I'm quite ecstatic if it is because Hercules are sold out everywhere else.

So, I'm hoping that @SamuraiSam can chime in on if these are indeed the next generation of the Hercules or I'm just getting told what I want to hear by a rep that doesn't actually know.

With all the 510 insulator requests, you'd think somebody would have mentioned these by now....

Right, but how'd they end up on SR71's instead of SR74x's?
Same reason w9 has been selling the 71's off cheap - it's old stock that will continue to depreciate, if the demand for old models does not increase significantly (which would be highly counterintuitive, and seems unlikely to occur). Why not throw the new base on them and CASH IN on stuff you already paid to have manufactured, right? Not trying to sound like a dick, just a realistic businessman. Furthermore, I don't know if all sr-71's have the same issue that mine does, but the Teflon "grip" surrounding the 601 thread base of mine can be slipped off; the actual metal threaded base is the same size as my thread adapters, but the adapters do not have the same "grip" grooves machined into it that lock the Teflon splines in place. If they did, I'm fairly confident I could just swap one in and be rocking a 510 herc.

As a side note, I too own 3 Hercules and 3 or more Persei.

I bought them as a package, to get the best product out there that didn't require a torch. The technique this thing requires, however, is beyond me. I find myself troubleshooting every time I want to get high. Generally I spend 5-10 minutes trying to figure out what's going on (and leave frustrated and sober), when I only wanted a 30 second hit and a 30 second cool down.

When the new Persei drops, I expect to buy it in hopes that it will improve my Hercules experience, only to find that temp control isn't my issue. I think maybe I just don't like the Hercules, which makes me sad. Well, it makes my wallet sad.

In the meantime, the AC dual coil never disappoints. A disposable resistance wire coil is not what I was looking for; in fact, I bought my hercs to replace my globe and carts. I'm just glad I ordered an AC, even though I thought at the time I was done with coil carts. They usually work in a binary state (I get vapor or it's broken... On the dual coil, sometimes one coil will burn out first and you'll get a 1/2 power skillet, but IT STILL PROVIDES PERFECT CLOUDS) and they don't seem to fail every time I load them with expensive product.

My other favorite part about the AC? I've never needed anyone to walk me through any special off-label techniques(!) for any step of its use or maintenance. My 8 and Hercules experiences are far less positive (not indicative of their support for their products -- their CS is top notch). Sam has gotten me up and running several times in a row, but I really shouldn't have to call CS every time I want to get vaked.

Tl;dr @SamuraiSam @THC SCIENTIFIC you have great CS, but a year into owning the sr-71/sr-74x, Im still bashing my head against the wall every time I try to use them. You hit a home run with the AC platform. I hope one day your other products can be used by retards such as myself, so I can actually recommend them to people, like I do the AC.

I was just upgraded to the touch persei. everything was working fine with my sr-74x then all of a sudden my persei started blinking three times then shut off. What could be the issue here?

I am using full charged aw imr batteries

Minute traces of oil in the pogo pin?

Edit: sorry, was hoping it was the simplest issue thats tough to see. I assume then, that you already have seen the alternate assembly instructions (not the ones that come in the manual, but the method @SamuraiSam shows via skype)? I didn't realize my pogo pin's spring was shot until I tried that alternate method and had perfect success. The spring has a pretty limited lifetime from what I understand.

That should show you the demand for some 510 adapters, Sam! And if you sell them to people prior to the release, they wouldn't be hitting you guys up for the free upgrade later on.

Just saying...take my money!
I do understand the demand for this part. I hope that no Persei & Hercules owners will be unhappy with our 510 upgrade when we are able to offer it. However I can't do so, or comment more on this topic at this time.
Right, but how'd they end up on SR71's instead of SR74x's?
We are out of stock completely of SR-74x so there weren't any of those model Herc to attach these to. We did have some SR-71's from before the -74 introduction that we've had on closeout at w9tech.com ever since. Those SR-71's with a new custom bottom insulator are what's out at PIU now.

I am sorry that performance has gone down hill after our webcam sessions. I am not sure what's changing while we aren't on cam but there shouldn't be any physical changes if the Hercules is cooled down properly and the device isn't taken apart. I'm always happy to help if you would like to reach out to support@w9tech.com or hit me up on Skype as in the past at samuraisam33 Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm PST.

It may be an issue with the Hercules assembly as @StickyShisha indicated. Another likely cause of 3 blue blinks is low voltage. If the batteries are fully charged do you have another set to try, or an electrical tester so we could measure the voltage of individual batteries? Please email support@w9tech.com or call 818-849-6133 for one on one assistance :)

Again, you've never steered me wrong, I just can't get reliable results out of the hercs I own, for whatever reasons (almost certainly user errors). Your help with the 8 was quintessential to my enjoyment of that device; I'm sure we'll figure out wtf I'm misunderstanding and doing wrong when no one is there to notice and point it out.

I saw everyone go way more complicated, but are your batteries adjusted properly? My v4 is very sensitive to motion and bumps and will lock out easily...

Hercules SR-71 510 thread paired with the Joyetech Cuboid. Running in power mode @ 28w or ~6.8v.

Truly the messiah comes.

Heads up that the SR-71 510 from Puffitup does not come with o-rings for the base nor the flat top mouthpiece with o-ring needed to run with the Nibbler XL. Fortunately, I had some extras in my tackle box.

Starting my Sunday off right!

P.S. Play a game of find the Persei and count how many randomly ended up in this shot hah!

Apologies mods for the double post but I couldn't figure out how to edit my last post. Feel free to merge if you can.
