Source Orb Pen Vape

I received my Source Orb Slim Travel Kit from Puffitup today. It came with 1 dual quartz atomizer and 1 terra disc atomizer.

The battery was near a full charge, as putting on the charger resulted in a quickly-flickering light. It's a 650mah, so maybe enough for a lightweight like myself. I have already ordered a couple of e-Go Twist VVs for backup.

The quartz is amazing for live resin, shatter, wax, all of the above. It just keep hitting and hitting and I load just a ball of shit, it keeps on going. I operate it between 3.8v and 4.4v so far. Above that and the hit becomes harsh, needing to filter through water for an enjoyable ride, lower and I don't get such full hits (volume of vapor and flavor combined).

The terra is pretty cool at full 4.8v, and I could see using it with bulk wax as a regular thing. My med shop recently received around a thousand grams of wax between 3 strains, set at $20/ea, no limit. I got one of each to try it out and so far have not been let down. The terra sucks up the wax after a couple of hits and keeps on vaping without a remnant of negative flavor until there is just no more. You need to prime the disc before taking the draw, about 3 seconds, then release the button, press it again and inhale as you wish. Clouds aren't anything to me, just functionality. It is clean-tasting, very terpy even for cheap wax. The live resin (Boulder Pharma @ $35/g) was too good; I had to order more terra atomizers because I'm sure they will get gunked up easily. Source currently has terra atomizer 5-packs for $20 and a BOGO special at the same time. I ordered and paid ~$25 after shipping, already shipped out 10 of the terra atomizers to me. I should buy more dual quartz coils too, but I'll wait until the titanium alloy mess is sorted out.

Only thing I'm not really fond of is the variable airflow system. I find due to the ease of movement for the adjustment ring, it gets closed and changed up during use and disuse. I would just prefer good airflow and carb it myself like most e-cig style vapes.

A very good steal for $42.50, and free shipping from a Friday night order to a Monday afternoon delivery is always wonderful!

Also a shout out to Randy for dropping 2 silicone jars in with the package! I hate how live resin usually comes smeared on wax paper (rarely see them in nice jars outside of Viola and some Boulder Pharma batches). It's a pain to get off and messy as hell. The jars will come in handy, thanks!

The best method I've found so far is pulsing for a few seconds to let vapor build up, then pulse again when you go to hit it.

Do you cough on these coils? I did when I first got them and I still am. It concerns me a bit. The same concentrates in other atomizers don't make me cough, but the orb does. I've read they use cheap Ti (learned that after I bought it). Not sure if that's the reason.

I think I may look into their other atomizers. I think the 3 coils may be overkill. I hate to say that, but 2 may be a more comfortable experience.

I'll give that a shot and see how I like it thanks! I did cough the first few times using this pen but I don't dab much at all so that is probably why.

I agree with this 100%. Sometimes when putting the pen together I will accidentally close the holes and forget to check when I hit it. Maybe if they added some sort of feature where each hole would lock into position with a click. Or just make it like the Orb and have predrilled non-adjustable holes.

How do you guys go about cleaning the coils (more specifically the quartz dual coil)

Soak in ISO is usually good enough. If you have some charred material on the coil gently flick it off with a toothpick or somesuch. I can usually get several weeks of use out of a dual coil quartz with regular cleaning.

I soaked in ISO for about 30 minutes and it looked very clean. I then rinsed under hot water and let air dry for 5 hours. I was a little worried about using ISO as I heard it can have serious consequences if inhaled from residue left on the atomizer. But I'm still alive so I guess it's fine.

Thx all advice above, in Aus and Oil Vapes not available (yet) after much research @PlanetVape sent my Orb Slim with 5 free atomisers as due my cognition from chronic illnesses ordered using $54int shipping by accident when wanted cheaper (but still tracked) shipping as on disability evert dollar counts and vlucky to source top grade medicinal oil in Aus so wanted try best ways get instant pain relief and 'value' from high THC Oil other than oral coconut oil/spots THC with 20% CBD Hemp Oil (Endoca Oil) at least 100mg CBD Oil (20mg active CBD) on spoon with 1-2 matchheads High THC Oil for "The Entourage Effect".
1/ New to vaping but made cocoa butter suppositories to get more bioavailability and bypass delta-9 metabolite by liver but I find not much pain relief at same and higher doses
2/ oral coconut+Oils method above get vmedicated but takes good 2hrs start working and don't enjoy increase in heart rate and how long lasts so
3/Wondering if mixing High CBD Oil and THC Oil as above in Slim Vape is how I should be using my new slim or is diff vape heats required?
4/Do I fill Terra or dual coil with small amount like on spoon or fill atomisers with 0.5 mixed CBD/THC Oil and vape that amount over a few days or does that 'kill' or burn actives?
5/or should use one atomiser dedicated to High CBD Hemp Oil and fill another will THC Oil?
6/ Heat/Variable battery/Air holes all new me best way get quality hits without coughing as dry herb "puffit" vape never any coughing.
Worked as biochemist until severe illness now bedridden so #Cannabis Science a passion of mine but edibles and vaping Oil new so any advice greatly appreciated currently experiencing in out hospital so learning all this myself (mistly from reading ecellent info from all on FC as no MMJ industry (yet) as legislation only just passing slowly.
So greatful for any help have bad insomnia so Thx for any advice on vaping and if high grade THC oil can be put straight into edibles will that be more effective to " knock me out"?

Howdy Mate @Dave_Au and
Welcome to FC .

I don't do edibles , so I can't help you with that .
Extra heating ' may ' burn off some actives , depending on temp .
So if you can get dry shatter or wax and load it directly , without heating
it up . Sounds wise to separate the cbd and thc oils , but you can experiment to
see what works for you .

We have threads on FC that discusses specifically in edibles and
oil caps , etc . I think you can find them in the Medical or Vapor Lounge , Cooking sections .
I'll see if I can find you a link and post it later .

Concentrates do tend to contain much higher THC .
The Source Orb does provide a very nice portable option for
dab hits on the go . The Terras are the only ones I use for
pure flavor and taste .

This one is more of a load as you go type of attys .
To keep the flavor and taste , but I have used it next day
when I had some leftover in them . Plus you don't want to load too big
because it can cause splatters and spill over the cup . So start small size
and experiment upwards . Voltage/heat settings will play a factor too .

Glad that worked for you. I usually soak overnight, or sometimes several days if I am busy & don't get around to it. The hot water rinse should get rid of all the ISO, & even if some remains the amount that could conceivably remain in an atty would be insignificant to inhale. Especially if you test fire attys after cleaning to make sure they work & burn off any residuals. Don't get me wrong, you certainly don't wanna go vaping a tank of ISO, but a couple microliters on your atty isn't gonna make you go blind or anything.

Got my Source Orb XL travel kit thanks to @PlanetVape all cleaned up.

Going to ditch the case it comes with as it smells like plastic and the fibers of the case can contaminate the vape. When I did the initial iSO cleaning there was a good amount of black fiber from the travel case in the iso bath.

What voltage are people using with the double and triple Quartz gr1 coils? 4.2v?

Hi @Been Vapin found started at 4.6v bit harsh never cough with flower cape so dropped down ~3.8v held down 5secs then feather the button and draw for 4-5 secs, 3-4hits quality Oil gives pain relief for 4-5hrs but I only use once a day and one 100mg suppository at night for better biolsvaibilty ( made with cocoa butter heated 100Celcius 10min boiling water in bowl with shot glass (added 10 ml Cocoa butter + 2ml Medical Oil mix well sterile syringe insert then same syringe put in suppository molds =12x1ml molds in fridge 1_hr pop out into resealable bag store in frezzer. Iso or warm wash molds as reusable as long as sterile. Everything needed be sterilized boiling soapy water dried oven ten min and latex gloves as important aboid fecal bacteria transplant.
Don't notice much pain relief using supps but better bioavailabity and bypass liver metabolism so good those want take pressure of organ metabolism and hit ECS more directly. Let spasms, distonia lower part body and IBS helped more by suppositories and upper body pain and migraines helped more by vaping Oil.

I also Interested to know a comparison if there are any nasties coming of atomisers that a clean of iso won't' other experiences I thought would share about my "Orb Slim" get very good pain relief from just THC dominant Oil but way to hash coughs which concerns me, used CBD Hemp Oil mix first time to balance actives and think 4.4V-4.6V may have been too high with just THC dominant oil but ok for a mix of metabolites, just my brainfogged scientific mind thinking outloud? Interested in any opinions think I did swap over from a ceramic to a double coil so maybe I 'burnt' THC and other molecules too hot with coil changes...will document my experiences as I experiment interested any opinions, thanks all

So you're using a double coil and getting harsh hits? I get those with my triple and it concerns me as well. I coughed like mad when I first got it and actually went back to using my kandypens galaxy. I've lowered the volt to 3.5 and found that's much better. It's still a bit harsh though.

I have Quartz Terras on the way that I'm hoping eliminate that harshness. I've read they are really nice.

I do have concerns over their coils though. My puffco and galaxy atty's aren't harsh. If you cough it's because you got a strong hit. MAYBE the coils are just producing really strong vapor. I dunno, but I'm done with their coils for now. I'm sure the terras are what I'm looking for. Plus their coils kinda burn through product quick.

In other news, I fucked up and fell asleep on my Orb XL thus breaking the box mod. I emailed Source and even though the issue isn't covered under the warranty they are sending a replacement. I'm really happy with this company so far. If the terras are as good as I've read then I think my VAS for pens will subside.

Now I can save up for a VB2.5

The ceramic terras i use are not harsh. I just dont know if the titanium or wever metal they use is safe.

Great to hear. The quartz terras should be great then.

I am finding that the Dual Quartz coils do burn thru product fast. I load about .1-.2 each time and only get maybe 4-6 hits before its done. Is this the norm? Has anyone had better results? I have my pen set on 3.8V and all the air holes open. Typically I feather the button when hitting (hold down for few secs then let off). Let me know what you guys do and how efficient it is. Thanks!

I have done some research and it seems like the titanium used in the coil atomizers (Grade 1 due to the flexible properties) oxides at room temperature creating titanium oxide, this process is drastically sped up when the coils are exposed to water and are dry fired. While pure titanium is safe for humans (its in medical equipment and implant devices), it's not quite clear whether TiO2 (titanium oxide) is considered a carcinogen. Normal TiO2 is found in a range of products from the food we eat to sunscreen. Although these have been deemed relatively safe for these uses, the effects of inhaling it is still unknown as far as I can find. This being said I'm no scientist (actually barely passed Chemistry in College) so do your own research and fact check me if you care to. But based on my research I think I am going to avoid titanium altogether and switch to using the Quartz Terra even though I have heard that some ceramic pieces may contain lead. Anyone have any information on this?

Just got my quartz terras. What voltage are people using with these? I thought I read somewhere 4.5 is optimal.

I put a tiny strip of tape on the ring and lower base part to keep the ring at full airflow. Used for months, hasn't melted or fallen off.

Just a shout out to @SOURCEvapes for their bogo sale for the v3 attachment.

I have had many wax pens but to have this on my own box mod is terrific (The Mini Volt by Counsel of Vape at 10w).

I've known about Source Vapes but didn't bother trying this out because I had put together my own wax pen frankensteined with parts from eBay. After my ugly pen died and after reading reviews (in this thread and viewing some on YouTube) I finally caved in and decided on this. I don't regret it at all.

My positive experience is the same as most of you all have reported and have selected my favorite atty: the dual quartz in the glass bowl.

Anyway, I need to spend some time with my Orb. Here's some eye candy ...

Thought I'd post an update now that this has become my daily driver.

So far customer service has been really good as I have run into some issues.

I broke the Volt battery using the Orb XL. I ended up sitting on it on accident which made the top metal cover of the Volt come off. I used electricians tape to fix it. Not pretty but it works. They were nice enough to send me a brand new Volt even though my issue wasn't covered by warranty. They get points for that.

I ordered some quartz terras and they didn't work. I emailed Source and apparently some Orb XL's didn't get the v3 threading so v3 atty's don't work. They are aware of the issue and are sending out replacement bottoms to those affected. It's on back order sadly, so I have to wait to play with the terras. Not a big deal.

So far their customer service has been very good. I do wish they were more present here though.

I've gone back to using the triple coils since considering swearing them off. I was back to using my puffco, but it just wasn't doing the trick. 2 big pulls off the Orb XL w/ triple atty is pretty amazing. The taste is unreal. It hits hard, but not harsh. At first I was concerned over the fact these atty's make me cough, but over time I'm pretty convinced it's just very strong vapor and I'm coughing because I'm ingesting some pretty potent wax.

My overall feeling is this the strongest pen I've ever hit. Because of that it's now my go to daily device.

I simply love the way the Volt w/ Orb XL attachment feels in my hand. It has a nice weight to it.

I'm happy now, but I bet those terras make me even happier.

I also like their rewards program. I used a coupon for the Flosstradamus kit, got points. Used those points and got $5 off my 5 pack of quartz terra atty's. 5 new atty's for $45 shipped is fair deal in my eyes. They email me $5 coupons weekly too it seems.

I'll report back once I play with the terras.

I have also had excellent results with the Orb and use it daily with the Orb4 attachments, I prefer the clear globe and playing the carb like a flute.



So whats the deal with the new Source portable e-nail? Is this just another in the line of Boosts and other knockoffs?
