Greetings, Firefly Nation,

Indeed, check the date of my posting. This group is smart, with a really good sense of humor. Right ? It seemed like the right thing to do, given the oftentimes bizarre nature of VAS-induced anxiety vis-a-vis doing penance in pre-order purgatory. Many of us here, including myself, are still riding the roller coaster of excitement & disappointment that is life scanning the horizon for that most elusive of insects, the mighty Grasshopper. I pre-ordered my gold Firefly 2 on 29 February 2016. It's so-o-o-o purdy !

I will make it up to you, I promise.:myday:

So as we all wait and wait and wait here's my latest thought GH are going for $400 on eBay. Do you think there will be a FF market or will people just wait for retail? I believe the latter just because it's a very different situation. However if people like us who ordered March 1 receive them and everyone wildly hypes it up people may try get one at a premium instead of waiting for June or later for retail.....

I will change my GH for a FF2 for sure. The vapor is to harsh for me, so I'm gonna wait until we see a few reviews here and probably sell my Ti GH to buy a FF2.

Hey @mitchgo61, how harsh is the vapor on this new unit?

Not harsh at all. Very tasty and pretty cool. Not quite as cool as the FF1, but a little cooler than the Mighty....which has very smooth, cool vapor. The 2 is the second-greatest vapor flavor I've experienced, after (by a teeny bit) the FF1.

Haven't used the GH so I have no comparative data.

Hi bO,

Watch the most excellent review by Vape Critic on Firefly 2, as well as a long video comparison between Firefly 2, Pax 2, and the Crafty. Happy viewing !

Sounds good enough to me, I think it's the time to take some pictures for the classifieds...

@mitchgo61

I have plenty of backups haha, I'm just particularly excited for the FF2. I use on-demand vaporizers exclusively now and for me, there's just no going back to timed session vapes. GH and UD have nearly cured my VAS, but neither one is great for my most frequent usage scenario: relaxing at home on my couch after a long day of work. The UD is limited by its cord, and while the GH can work in that setting, I'd prefer the smoother, cooler vapor of the FF2.

I see my UD and FF2 getting the most use while I'm at home, the FF2 for when I go on short trips, and the GH when stealth is a concern.
Cool, please check back when you're ready to compare the GH & FF2. I'm in a similar place but using only quick convection portables, a GH and Firewood 3.0. The GH is mostly on the go, for that fast perspective shift during the day, and beyond the form factor which is fine (LED is really bright and the button-clicking thing is well done but loud and prone to accidental on) it rules stealth cause it's so fast and un-finicky. The Firewood has similar efficiency & effects as the UD, not saying as good but definitely fills that space for me. VAS mostly cured, but the choices this year are crazy, have a Milaana on preorder and waiting for FCers' reviews on the FF2.

I haven't read this whole thread - but did read the Redit comment about a pre production unit.

Question for anyone that has tried both. If I already have the FF1 is there any significant reason (other than battery life) to sell it and get the FF2? Its not may main unit, just my portable unit of choice.

just my portable unit of choice.

I would say 33% smaller and 50% lighter would be a good reason if you use it as a portable. I did not have a FF1 but a friend did and it was big and heavy. I really want one of these but am hoping to catch a deal on 4/20, my sweet spot for one of these is around $40 cheaper than the current price.

I would check out YouTube videos but here's what I know....

1. Removeable mouth piece for cleaning.

2. No screen

3. One flat unit for much easier cleaning and maintenance

4. 33% smaller and like 45% lighter

5. Much more holes in bowl so bigger more flavorful hits.

6 The app but not sure if that works for both units.

Anything else I'm forgetting?

Prob won't go on sale to public until preorders are done so 4/20 sale is doubtful

Hi vape4fun,

Don't forget to mention that there is a special temperature setting of 500* for vaporizing concentrates using the concentrate pad. I myself am doing penance in pre-order purgatory, scanning the forest for any telltale flicker of my gold Firefly 2. It's so-o-o-o purdy !

It's already on sale to the "public" (whatever that means...it's always been a public pre-sale, just through FF). As of yesterday VapeWorld is taking pre-orders (far as I know, the only authorized retailer other than FF themselves, though I assume that will change).

http://www.vapeworld.com/firefly-2-vaporizer/

I can make two predictions fairly confidently....one, no one who hasn't already pre-ordered is likely to see an FF2 prior to May 1 (hope that's wrong, but based on current dates, probably not)....and two, outside of a private sale, you won't be finding the FF2 40 bucks below the regular price at any authorized retailer.

If you haven't ordered yet prob closer to June 1st since on website it's saying late May to ship so....at least unlike some other insects this one we won't have to wait 14 months plus for!

Namaste vapes are taking preorders. You need to speak to them first before they allow u to order.

Ordered black. They said ETA start of June.

Been lurking in the shadows for a while but here I am! Figured this forum could use a few more apologetic canadians :p

After going thru mountains of info, I just jumped on the FF2 pre-order train! I had been waiting patiently for the GH to become a tad less fail-prone but then Firefly announced a second coming (the first one appealed to me, until I learned about batteries etc.) and from what I've seen and heard, its gonna be a doozy! So I took a lil leap of faith and shelled out for a blue one! I say leap of faith cause reliability is an unknown at this point but they DID adress the glaring flaws of the first iteration so it does look very promising. Ultimately tho, the proof is in the pudding!

I almost pulled the trigger on a Mighty that was on sale at a local shop a few days ago (at a VERY good price, and considering the Canadian dollar right now) but in the end it made more sense to stick with my Pax 2 (and it's legendary portability, reliability and warranty) and shoot for an instant heat, full convection vape to plug the gap (and ease a possible onset of VAS).

I'm very much looking forward to the über-flavor and smoothness, departments in which the Pax could be a lil better. I thought of selling it to fund my new aquisition (and have an easier time telling my girlfriend about my new buy haha) but I've grown very fond of it (it IS my first ever vape, and a darn good one at that). I figure it will be perfect as a stand in for when I'll need to be extremely stealthy or if (God forbid) the FF2 fails. I've come to realise that a true vaporist never puts all his herbs in the same oven!

I think I'll bring both to parties/get togethers and spread the word cause everyone around me and in my friend group still live in the past (aka combustion)! The glaring exception is my bud who let me try his Pax 2 last year....

Anywhom, glad to be on board! I'm in the late May group so the next month and a half will be quite the test! If it's any comfort tho, I've learned since I was quite young that fireflies travel faster than grasshoppers ;P Stay strong fellow pre-orders, the glow isn't too far away! ;)

No contest.

I like the P2 a lot. It is about as stealthy as you can get. But either FF model is light years ahead in flavor. They are very different devices in almost every respect. Different tools for different applications. Don't sell the P2 unless you need the funds...you'll find it useful or even optimal sometimes, even if you use it a whole lot less. :2c:

I don't think you'll be disappointed. Other than the waiting part, which is hard on all of us. :p

P2 is perfect for traveling, 15 planes past year around europe and not even a single time they asked me about the pax2. And they stoped me a lot of times because of different stuff in my backpack lol

Can't wait until a reseller in UK has the FF2 available tho!

Interesting review on the G Pen Elite with references to the Firefly 2:

http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-portable-vaporizer/#competition-firefly2

This is somewhat concerning:

"Our first test model was part of a bad production batch that was quickly replaced, and we suspect our second model had a similar quirk preventing it from reaching the right temperature reliably. We tried variations with how coarsely our material was ground (Firefly recommends hand-torn material) and how tightly we packed it (tight but not too tight), but the temperature seemed the issue, not the airflow."

I'm not too worried about it because all of the other reviews have been stellar, but I hope there aren't many quality control issues with the FF2.

Well, if anything I think it kind brings people back down to reality a little. Duds ARE going to happen, no doubt about it but, just like you, I'm going forward with a positive attitude cause it does look very promising indeed :)
