This unit is killer with a Hammer stem
I sort of want to try one, but I've never used/seen a Hammer...
Original or lock-on stem? How long are they?
Do you use silicone or something to seal the airflow? How do you prevent material falling into the heater (add a screen in the FW, or use two in the stem)?

Screen in the firewood, I can take a pic on my lunch. Silicone to seal, lock on tested ogs would work.

Jack of all trades, master of none.
Just got a used FW 3.0. Is there a link to operating instructions? Looked on the website but there is no user manual.

@paytonpenn Hammer stem! :cool:

And make sure your browser is not relying on a cached page where it's out of stock. I use(d) either a private browse window or Shift+F5. I snagged mine on Wednesday I believe, so check every morning if you really don't wanna wait...

At least a couple of us have had the battery cover split. Marc should replace for you, just shoot him an email.

I bought another battery cover. And fixed the old one. So I guess I have a backup now. It is a bit concerning, the hardest hit my FW3 had taken was a tap from my hand on the side while drawing. No drops or crashes. With the thin wood battery cover secured on the sides (screws) and with high pressure in the middle (battery spring force divided by the small area of one positive battery terminal), splitting seems likely!

But maybe I'm a klutz. Any thoughts from other users? Has your battery cover split?

Out of curiosity, are the people having the problems with split or broken covers using the same wood?

Mine is a walnut body and I think the pressure from the battery springs is what caused my bottom cover to pop off as I never banged or bumped mine. I treated it like a glass piece.

Mine is walnut. I believe mine came off from added stress of removing the batteries and replacing them too often to charge them externally. I had removed the batteries about 5 or so times and each time I noticed that once those screws are removed the springs will push the batteries into the wood and if you are holding the wood by the edges which is what I believe one typically would do then you are messing with disaster. When removing the battery cover one must be very careful to apply pressure to the center of the cover only and keep it sandwiched tight to the wood body until all 4 screws are removed completely. Then lift carefully without grabbing from the sides.

Notorious
I use it every day in the morning a little and a lot in the evening. I use it sporadically over the weekends. I've had it for a few months now, and while it's not been without hiccup, it performs really really well.

It was randomly turning off due to no charge after it had supposedly charged. A careful look inside the battery compartment made me aware of a contact metal piece being bent a little on the lid. When corrected and the lid gently and carefully screwed back on, the problem has not happened again.

I thought the connection to the charger was being finicky but it now is clear that it's the cable to the charger. Sometimes it just doesn't connect right and takes some fidgeting to get it to charge. It gets a lot of use, but I'm gentle with it.

I really do love my Woody. Great vape for around the house or to take on small trips. The battery life is kind of short, it's a pain to swap out the batteries, it doesn't take a usb charger, the batteries charge really slow, and you can't charge and use it the same time. So it's really just the batteries I'm not 100% satisfied with, but it's not enough to make me not use this guy every day all the time.

Space is the Place
my Firewood 3 has been my daily driver for months now, never really expected it to be my #1 but thank God it's been serving me well. I'm Just using it with the stock mouthpiece and dry and can't recommend it enough.

I think it's one Killer(sweet) little vape.

I do have to say my consumption of herb has dropped from well over a gram a day to .30 -.40 since early last summer due to circumstances around the homestead changing(gotta keep herb stuffs hidden and out of sight which is something I haven't had to worry about for the last 35 years or so) so the firewood fit right in when I picked it up in the fall. I'm only doing 2-3 capsules a day right now and find I still only need to charge every other day as I'm able to cash 5-6 capsules per charge. Not too bad compared to any other battery powered portable I've used/owned, so far no complaints about battery life from me.

Looking around I think I'll be a Firewood owner soon. Heading out on the road in June and need to leave my Mighty at home with the missus. I mean ideally I would have a Zion/Grasshopper/Milaana but all 3 of those are in limbo

But this thing looks fabulous, on demand convection heat for $165

The comments about the battery door splitting make me worried, I need reliability for being on the road. I noticed some comments it might just be the walnut bodies? No issues with maple?

No issues with the battery door here, i haven't had to mess with it yet though. Make sure to buy extra capsules it really is worth it to swap on the fly

hello

i made a diy mouthpiece, you basically need a pyrex/borosilicate tube, silicone and a glass cutter.

this one was actually a solo stem, 1cm diameter glass tube.

also here a pic of my original mp equipped with a nice drip tip from fasttech.

My first-run cherry Firewood v3 is still holding up great, going through about 4-5 capsules daily; easily my overall favorite vape so far

The one modification I always use is E-Nano screens in the capsules, because the stock screens liked to move around too much. My technique has improved enough that it doesn't burn my throat with just the stock mouthpiece anymore, but I still use my OGB extension at home.

Do drip tips fit and seal right inside the mouthpiece (if they're standardized at all)? I was thinking about ordering a few to try out, in steel and/or wood.

My FW did give me a scare the other weekend: after I took it out snowboarding (and falling...), it wouldn't respond to the button at all :uhoh:
Much to my relief, it came right back to life once I unscrewed the cover and reseated the batteries.

I got a walnut a few weeks ago..only regret is that i didnt get the caddy then. Solid vaporizer..its getting more use then my esv and crafty. I picked it up cause i didnt want to wait for the zion.

Good purchase overall.

Agreed on all fronts! Wish I had ordered the caddy and... the FW3 has my Crafty and ESV gathering dust. I decided to try my Crafty last night and the battery was dead. No worries, the FW3 and the Herc to the rescue!

When i first got my firewood 3.0 i hated it, just give yourself time to get used to the breath control.
I had issues with stock settings too, they just took forever to get to temp and i had to take 30 sec draws soooo slow to get anything. Then i played around with the temp boost 2 clicks up was too much and i combusted on temp 3. 1 click up on temp 3 is my sweet spot and now i only need 5-10 sec draw for pretty big rips.
I use a hard draw primer puff or puff it like a cigar to get it up to temp then a long medium draw seems to give best results.
I prefer to hit it with a water tool, after the primer puff i hit it direct until i start to taste/feel the vapor breathe out that tiny hit take a breath and go straight for the water tool medium draw.
My one issue with this unit is the vapor comes out HOT even with water its a bit rough compared to other convection i have used. Definitely suggest making the vapor path longer this helps tremendously.
I pack 40% of capsules this also helps make it a bit cooler than a fully loaded cap
I would recommend this vape, its just not for everyone i have only found 1 other friend who i could teach the unit to they actually paid attention and figured it out and liked it.
this is a great solo vape maybe 2 people beyond that it gets hard and people don't want to take the time effort to learn it correctly.
I use it evey day and it has a place in my line up, but i doubt i would be satisfied if this was my only vape. i just don't know if its going to last, i feel like 1 good drop could be the end for this guy.
I do recommend this vape overall, taste is amazing, efficiency is top notch comparable to my underdog.

I have eNano, UD, and VC in addition to the Walnut FW3 I received a couple of weeks ago. My questions to you all:
1) Do you all (Walnut peeps especially) taste a vinegary taste, or get a vinegary smell from the mouthpeice/logo area? 2 non users and 1 user I asked all said (before I suggested anything), it smells like Vinegar. I've been leaving the capsule out and airing this thing out for two weeks. Although the vinegar smell is a litte less, it still persists. I do wonder if the finish is really just beeswax and mineral oil, I'm not suggesting it's anything sinister, just my walnut handle knife(unfinished when bought) and walnut e nano (shellac) do not smell like this thing!
2) Anyone else blown back into the capsule to get the herbs off an upper screen, only to sog out the bowl. I had mine up to T4 (stock), hurting the hell out of my throat and getting wisps, only to find out my herb was all soggy and gross in the capsule from my breath condensation. Lesson learned.
3) Any links to ebay/DHgate drip tips? I really need to cool this vapor down. Water is great, but I didn't buy this thing to use inside/at home, I have ready to go logs for that!
4) Any cases you guys are using for this? I want to take it hiking/camping, but I fear the CA glue and tiny battery cover wood need some cushioning for this rough handling.
5) My glass/heating coil/battery charger (maybe everything except the wood) are off center. Anyone elses like this? My plug fits into the charger hole but barely, and my coil/glass set up is slightly off center. I don't worry too much about this as I figure it might help turbulence, just wondering how others were built?

Overall I like this thing more than the vapium summit I returned to PIU after it had problems getting to temp. I don't regret my purchase, but it is a little hotter and acrid tasting than I expected.
