Terpene question

glad to find this thread! although still confused, haha. was at a club and saw 'live terpenes' for sale at quite the price and it was explained to me that you put drops of them on shatter and infuse the flavour into them? sounded very next level and out of my league.

yeah, live cannabis derived terpenes are pricey for sure, but oh so tasty a little goes a long long way

I see terpenes as another layer of canna goodness. The more we know, the better off we are.

I'm surprised to see exact amounts list because terpenes disapate. The levels today will change in the weeks and will months that it ages.

It's all these ratios of cannabinoids and terpenes that makes each variety unique. And in my experience organically grown herb let's the plant express itself to the fullest. But then I'm spoiled, lol.

I'm an old fart, (61) and I'm continuously amazed by this plant and its possibilities. We've come a long ways baby!

I found this bit of info. Might be food for thought. I always go for the indoor cannabis. Maybe I need to try more of the outdoor strains this fall during harvest time in the Pacific NW.

The indoor cannabis always looks better to the eye than the outdoor IMO. The indoor always looks fuller and tighter buds. Maybe looks doesn't always matter.

I am in Portland. Which dispensary had the products with terp info in the lab report?
Full labels with all the lab info in Oregon is not mainstream yet as far as I can tell.
In fact I have asked about concentrates with higher terp %'s at multiple dispensaries and generally they do not even know what I am talking about so I just say I want something that smells and tastes like the strain that it is derived from.

While it would be nice to have lab data about terpene concentration for each strain available in a dispensary the best tool is our olfactory sense. I go by smell and know that if I like the smell I'm going to like the effect of a strain. For me it's citrus and pine, hence my love for Jack Herer and other similar smelling strains. Yes, it's the uplifting sativas (and some indica dominant strains like OG Kushes) that make me feel the best.

I've always found organic smells better and stronger.

I suspect most of the tested indoors was hydro with soluble fertilizers.

And a higher percentage of organic soil grows outdoors with very few outdoor hydro.

And that may explain the results more than any indoor outdoor differences.

I suspect that the OP's dispensary has a problem. I have never, ever heard of flowers having 6.9% total terpenes. That is a level we'd expect to see in a high quality traditional BHO or maybe a reasonable rosin even! I think there is a problem with the labelling of that particular product.

Do the dispensary provide certificates of analysis from qualified testing labs?

By the way, it should come as no surprise to anybody that terpenes are as much active compounds in our favorite herb as cannabinoids. Remember, cannabinoids are themselves a type of terpenoid!

I agree! I recently got some Extractioneering HTFSE (HIgh Terpene Full Spectrum Extract) Sugar, liquid and RIND. I definately feel a more complete "buzz". More akin to smoking flowers than just using high quality BHO alone. I don't know what magic they are using other than Hydrocarbon extraction. But their products are legit! @herbivore21

unfortunately for you guys muling is not and has never been a part of my repertoire - it seems to get you on the wrong side of all kinds of folks with guns and badges!

Also I have to admit I have not had the chance to enjoy some extractioneering products. I am very familiar with their products though and have read countless sets of test results on their products. I will not mince my words - solvent or no, they have terp levels in some of their HTFSE's that are as good as we could expect from the highest terpene containing full melt bubble or dry sift!
