Thank you, this is great advice, I have had much better luck getting the sticky threads to come loose after first heating up the Hercules SR-74x cartridge. I did this by turning on the Persei and heating up the Hercules SR-74x cartridge before attempting to loosen the threads.

I am having trouble removing the ceramic rod and the coil from my Hercules sr-74x. Do I need to use pliers for the rod and something pointy for the coil? I do not want to damage them, and applying heat did not make things any easier. Any advice?

i would reccomend soaking it in 99 iso 91 is ok also for a bit a good method is to pur a bit of iso into the corner of a ziplock drop the top chamber in and twist it so you make a little bubble of iso you can shake the top chamber in and run hot water over it then shake it it will break up the remaining oil and make it easier to remove the rod do that a couple times if needed

for the coil i usually use a small metal toothpick and insert that where the rod used to be and push up the herc cleaning tool can work also but i prefer something thinner

you can also try heating it up a bit and pushing the rod up into the top chamber that can sometimes get both out as one peice as theyre probably gunked together with resin

@lonelyhero and @StormyPinkness gave some great tips. Please don't take any tools to the Hercules, forcing anything is less than ideal & using pliers on the ceramic rod is not a great idea. Feel free to give me a call today if you'd like any one on one help with your Hercules, @PM710 - 818-849-6133

I've kind of resigned myself to just completely replacing the coils in my Herc when it comes time to clean it. I've tried warm iso soaks and torching but they never come back quite how they started. As such, I just take one of those metal dental picks with the pointy hook on the end, like what they use to scrape the shit out of your gums when you go get your teeth cleaned, hook one end into the coil and just rip it out. It helps if it's warm first but that's how I go about it.

I'm thinking the same here as well. I haven't actually tried cleaning one of the old coils yet but I imagine it'd be a mess... I can only imagine at least 4-5 iso baths to completely clean it. Boiling it is out of the question for me since I live in a house with other people and it'll smell.

So.... since I'm about to order some coils anyways, I wanted to see what FC thought comparing the AC to the herc. I'm not interested in rebuilding any carts which is why the herc has been my go-to for the past year. However, the ceramic wick is intriguing me as a new alternative to a non-rebuildable cart.

How does everyone feel when comparing the herc to the AC ceramic wick? Any leakage with the ceramic wick at all?

Thanks in advance!

I've vaped many ounces of concentrate through my Ti herc coils. Clean and dirty. I have 3 and just rotate them while leaving the dirty ones soaking in an iso jar constantly.
I started out doing it the same way but somehow I never get great results trying to clean them. I've left coils soaking for weeks, even going so far as to change out the iso every day, boiling, torching, everything I could think of. They always had some tiny bit of crud imbedded inside that I couldn't remove which produces some fairly gross flavors.

I also used to clean every weekend so it just felt like way too much time wasted for what ended up being suboptimal outcome. Nowadays I have a much better handle on technique, I don't get material falling into the reclaim chamber, I keep the buffer topped up, and just generally don't feel like it needs to be stripped down as frequently anymore. So if I have to spend $20 to swap in a pristine coil every couple months, no fuss, no muss, that works well for me.

Glad that better technique has helped solved the issues that came from weekly clean ups. I don't even clean my Herc every month besides keeping the top cap and threading clean...

When it is time to clean them out you'll notice different amounts of residues depending on what type of concentrates were vaporized. Lately, I've been vaping unfiltered rosin so there's a bit of plant material left behind.

I use the same sandwich bag and ISO technique shown in my KISS cart cleaning guide when it comes to the Hercules. If any PTFE pieces need to be cleaned I do that first. Usually just wiping down threadings.

Next I put all the stainless steel parts except the coils into the same bag. The stainless chambers, rod, screws, what have you. Anything that needs an ISO soak goes into the bag, seal it, put it in hot water. Once the water begins to cool (and the alcohol has become saturated with oils) I take all the parts out of that bag and put them in another one leaving the dirty alcohol behind. I put the coil into this first bag and put that in another cup of very hot water.

Once the stainless chambers are done with their final iso "rinse" those go into a strainer for boiling and my coils go into the next step of ISO. Once this one gets saturated I'll repeat the process until the coils do not leech any more oils into the alcohol while submerged in very hot water.

After this take the coil & hang it off a titanium dabber, then torch it above the sink to remove any last residues. Throw it in the strainer with all my other parts then boil everything in distilled water for a few minutes. I do not notice any 'off' flavors or anything 'left behind' with this method... After squishing the wet coil, reinstalling and building the herc, and vaporizing/boiling away all water I can pop the top cap back on before loading the Herc and taste nothing but clean hot air with the coil installed and rod heated.

The magic in the @SamuraiSam method is the iso in a bag in hot water. Heat get's it cleaner faster. Mug of water for about 30 seconds in the microwave then throw the bag in and put a lid/plate on top to help keep in heat. With cold iso I ended up soaking things for days instead of hours. Though the few times I've cleaned coils so far I've totally sucked. Kill them every time.

I'm thinking of doing this once the box mods come out, buying another one and switching to the herc full time. I got lazy cleaning my herc awhile ago and switched to the ac dual coil and haven't switched back yet. Those pretty much fill the same roll for me so I tend to use one or the other.

Also I second not using tools. I still have bite marks on it from early on when I couldn't get the wax-threaded mp off and got.... frustrated. Forcing it with tools should always be a last resort.

Hey guys,

Just got the Persei and AC last night and man am I ever surprised at how small this thing is! I was imagining something much bigger.

Now last night I tested out the AC to make sure everything fired. I used the supplied 18350 batts and attached the dual coil and I'm pretty sure it worked. I say pretty sure because it was late at night and was pretty tired. But this morning when I tried it, the light flashed red. Switched out the batts for a single AW IMR 18650 and the dual coil fired. Can anyone tell me what happened?

Also, is it safe to leave the batteries in the the Persei while not in use?

Thanks in advanced guys!

Pretty psyched to join the W9 family

Did you charge the batteries before putting them in the Persei?

The batteries that come with the Persei aren't very good to be honest but if you didn't charge them they may just have died from the testing

Also if you got the touch sensor version of the Persei it may just be acting up mine usually flashes at me a few times before I get it working

So i just got 2 x AW IMR 18350 and charged them up and put them in. Placed the dual coil and it still flashed red. Also decided to charge the supplied batteries and try those again, still flashed red.

The dual coil does fire with a single AW IMR 18650.

I know the 7.4v set up works because I can fire the 7.4v kiss cart.

Edit: @SamuraiSam got in touch with me and told me what was up. Sub Ohm! Still learning...:) These guys and everyone here rocks! Thanks for the help!

When are you guys getting the AW IMR 18350's back in stock? I've got a bunch of things I'd like to get
but I've been waiting on new batteries before I place my order.

Is there a better option for the Glass globe replacement for Alpha Centauri?
Are you asking about an upgraded Alpha Globe glass piece, such as how the Boro Globe Glass is an upgrade over the standard KISS Globe Glass? We don't have a product like this currently, but I appriciate the interest; we're happy to consider this for future products :)

It may be some time before we are able to re stock these batteries, so don't hold off on placing your order. You might want to try with another authorized AW distributor for the time being.

I'm sorry to hear that, @kernal6500. Our Persei's warranty includes a year of free repair service; we'd be happy to help troubleshoot your Persei, and repair it if necessary. Just shoot an email to support@w9tech.com and I'll do my best to help you one-on-one.

We've recently added a "Help" button linking to a contact form to every page on our website, too - it's in the lower right hand corner.

This IS my happy face..
Hello, I just noticed there is a replacement bottom insulator base that shows it is compatible with a 510 Herc...Does this base have a 601 or a 510 bottom thread...I use my (601)Herc on a Sigelei 150tc with the adapter and it just looks "funny".. Thank you.
