Hi herbivore21,

I have been using my Firefly since April, 2014, and I have NEVER stirred my bowl during a session. I find that there is no need, IF your material is nicely dry, and ground to a medium grind. I would hate for you to miss out on what is arguably the biggest breakthrough in sleek, portable vaporization. I have the experience of more than 3,200 bowls to back up my opinion.

I just pulled my old firefly ver.1 out to try out the new ver.2 770 battery. I didn't notice much of a difference in performance, but I suppose it will last longer. It still works great, in reflection it's kind of in-between the hopper and the crafty in a few ways, with slightly better first-hit flavor than either of those units.

Folks here escrow, or is it a gentleman/woman's handshake kind of thing?
We have a Classifieds section. http://fuckcombustion.com/forums/classifieds.29/
Here are the rules.

You'll notice in the rules that we have certain criteria in place for who can use the Classifieds section, specifically:

We now return you to your scheduled FF2 programming.

SM,

Do you pack it full or do you loosely put the material in the bowl so it moves about? I understand that as long as it's not packed tight, it needs no stirring. Otherwise, it does.

Thanks.

Hi kente777,

I use either a Sharpstone grinder, or the grinder card I carry in my wallet. It is important that the material be really dry. I put desiccant packets in my nug jars in order to get the material really dry. Then it grinds nicely. I fill the bowl to the top, tapping, NOT tamping, it down until it is flush with the top of the bowl. After about five long, slow draws, the material is "spent", even though the ABV is not evenly darkish. I know that many here will disagree with my "no stirring EVER " method, but it works for me, and it can work for someone else. Check it out.

I was so excited for this vape when I first heard about it, very little kept me away from the first Firefly, and the much smaller size of the new one resolved a good chunk of the dealbreaking aspects of the original design.

However, when I heard that you still need to stir bowls to get even vaporization, that was the end of my interest.

I need to put this out there not in a company bashing way (obviously other vapes have this issue too, but many do not), but as a more general message:

If your portable flower vape comes requires stirring of the load to get even vaporization, you need to do some design work still. The reason I mention the portability specifically here is that in public or out of the house (where we often use portables), nobody wants to be opening up and revealing the load in their vape to stir it because it won't heat evenly. I would think you guys will agree that needing to stir the load to get even vaporization is really crude design given we've had a few generations of vapes and many different designs have overcome this drawback.

I am still waiting to see a genuinely pocketable (fits in a pocket with plenty of pocket space to spare), reliable (a vape that the vast majority of users could reasonably expect to use heavily for years and not need warranty replacements) on-demand vaporizer with adequate battery life/replaceable batteries that does not require any stirring of the load and made of safe materials of course.

Anything different is not something I could countenance using as a portable.

The Grasshopper and the Firefly 2 are each very close, except that the former has problems with reliability and the latter requires stirring. It seems like it might be too late for the Firefly 2 to meet my needs (but fingers crossed!), so here's to hoping that the GH has the design kinks worked out soon!

I've had two grasshoppers since July, last time I had a warranty issue was like October and they've been going strong since and I'm an all day consumer. The Grasshoper is really dialed in now!

Hey, how about a small case for the FF2? I'm going to need as odor proof as possible. I don't want any odor emanating from my bag, at work. Also, sadly my wife dislikes the smell of weed, in any fashion, so I want to stealth around her too.

I was eyeballing this:

Odorproof Pocket Pouches (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UW58Q4U/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_kzA7wbEYTAKZ9
Tha one looks good. Especially for the price. But they don't give dimensions.

You may also want to check out Vatra and RYOT cases.

My Android phone does not support 5.0 operating system.

But it is possible I can run the app on my PC.

Problem. I cannot download the app to my PC.

Therefore anyone who can download the app and make it available so I can get it would help. Free app has no legal issues I would guess.

If successful running it on my PC I will post procedure.

Waiting waiting waiting. Anyone on the inside with specific info when first of units ship? I know April May is the window but as a March 1 morning order I'm hoping these start shipping April 1, wishful thinking??? Grasshopper is coming in March as well for sure, March 2017 can't wait!

Great Scott!
Yep, rather deal with my favorite retailers even if I pay a few bucks extra. I wish more companies did it like Arizer did for the Air, one day...boom! it was available and it worked fine.

That is what they did for the original firefly.

Agreed. I think the internet shopping experience has offered a lot to us consumers, but there's nothing like a B&M store to actually see something, to talk with somebody who has expertise (and lives locally/circulates their money locally) and in general get out of the house :-)

I know if I could buy one locally today I would. Can't wait for that day.

I haven't heard a peep in the last couple weeks. I wasn't expecting anything before April, based on their estimates, so I don't think anything is late, yet. Does feel like it's been eerily quiet though. Not fans of silence at our house. :p Hopefully one of the earlier orderers will have a happy surprise very soon.

I think we have been spoiled with technology like Amazon now where I can order a humidifier, sneakers, and a bunch of socks and two hours later they're at my door! It's probably worse because the reviews coming in all look amazing and I shelled out the $340 but I have nothing to show for it.

I think hopper has scarred us all as far as paying for awesome technology and watching those around us enjoying this insane product while all we can do is refresh our inboxes every six minutes waiting for the allusive address confirmation email.

In mean time I have a prime which I really like but it's just not the same!

I would take this anytime over what GHL did with promising mass shipping next month for the 21 month straight!

Of course. HUGE difference between a company that takes your money after the product has been designed and manufactured (normal manufacturing model) vs anyone who asks you for money before the product has even been designed (crowdfunding model).

FF have been, since day one, a "keep your mouth shut until you have something to sell" kind of organization. Radical, I know! :p

This is too real on so many levels for so many companies.
