Discontinued miVape by Vaporfection

The plastic mouthpiece is a big problem for most of us that have or had the miVape that actually post in this thread. I don't believe vapecritic talks about this much or at all in his review. There are other issues that have been mentioned as well so be cautious as $85 does sound like a great deal, however if you buy it and it is not what you want or not something you will really enjoy, then you just spent $85 on nothing. I would search for my posts in this thread as I believe I was probably one of the most critical.
Right on, thanks NS. I'm pretty critical of my vapes as well and prefer ones with all glass or near all glass airway mainly for health/safety more than taste, although they usually come hand in hand. I was just curious as to whether a newer model has come out considering the time frame this thread has spanned over. I'll likely wait for an updated model, and will check out some of your earlier posts here.

Yea I saw that, but i don't think that effects the air path at all and is just surrounding the glass airway. I don't own one so I'm not sure- you would know more than me. http://www.vapecritic.com/vaporizers/mivape/ Pretty solid review here, but the only thing he discusses is the silicone ring coming in slight contact with the airway.

I recently dissected an extra miVape mouthpiece assembly to see what was actually going on in there and I can tell you with certainty that the mouthpiece assembly is NOT glass-lined. It's all "plastic" in there. Except for the glass stem on which you actually put your lips and the metal screen at the bottom, the whole thing is food-grade polycarbonate. Many people don't have an issue with the material itself, but I don't see an effective way to clean the air passages inside that thing. Some folks have talked about shoving a pipe cleaner in there, but given the twists and turns taken by the dual airpath - the vapor enters the mouthpiece assembly through the screen at the bottom, is immediately split and moves up through the two side supports and then meets again in the silver middle swiveling piece that holds the glass stem - I don't see how cleaning that thing is anything but an exercise in frustration. (We've learned from hard experience that you can't soak the assembly in iso.) I don't even try. I just keep using it and holding out hope for the all-glass mouthpiece to come soon. It's been in development since last November, so hopefully soon.

Ahh gotcha, yea from description and appearance to someone who hasn't owned one it seems as though it is just about all glass, which is important to me, so I appreciate your input, and I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on it. I'm with ya on the updated model with a glass mp, a lot of signs are pointing towards that being the case- hopefully sooner rather than later.

And before we end, let me just say this, through whatever growing pains the miVape has had, I have found the customer service provided by Dan W. at Vaporfection to be SECOND TO NONE. The way he has responded to my questions, concerns, and issues is what keeps me holding on to my miVape and waiting for the all-glass mouthpiece that will allow the "Magic Juice Box" to reach its full potential.

That's always a positive. I've had the same experience with Randy at PUI, and it goes a long way. The Mi Vape sounded excellent and when I saw the price I was shocked. Overall, I'm looking for something with an all glass air path so if/ when mi vape releases a new one with those credentials it's gonna be hard to beat and I'll be a customer.

when will this updated model with all glass mouth piece be available?
No word on a "when" for the all glass mouthpiece.

As for the updated model, I imagine they are or will be trickling out from Vaporfection to fill new orders from retailers. If my experience is any indication, retail boxes with the updated units will feature the new charger, which has foldable prongs and an attached cord. The prongs on the old unit are fixed and the cord detaches. If the retailer doesn't update their pictures to reflect the new component, I would ask for confirmation via email.

As soon as this new mouthpiece and updated model are complete as one, I will for sure look back into the miVape. I just hope it is made a little sturdier (not so flimsy as the first 2 models) and stops charring my medicine. I have a good feeling that is what we will get with the next version.

So I just stopped by the Vaporfection website - as I do every now and then - to see if there's any word on the new mouthpiece and I saw this blurb:

"Thanks for visiting Vaporfection.com, we are currently undergoing maintenance and our products will be temporarily unavailable. If you wish to make a purchase immediately, please click here to be redirected to our distributor’s webstore or check back soon."

Assuming they are referring to maintenance on their website as opposed to their manufacturing facilities, this could mean updates and we will see the new mouthpiece there soon.

Of course, it could mean lots of other things as well, but I prefer to be optimistic.

Trying not to read too much into things, but I just stopped by Vaporfection and noticed that the miVape page no longer includes a picture of the "old" mouthpiece even though it still shows all the other accessories. The original mouthpiece does still appear on the accessories order page and it has the same "unavailable" message as the miVape page (and all other product pages).

Hey guys, I just noticed that I can get the MiVape for around $70 on puffitup. However, I wanted to confirm with you guys first whether or not this is a good deal. Is the one being sold an older model or something? Is the airpath truly all glass (except for the plastic bits in the mp right? I read on the last page that the puffitup one actually has a plastic mp and not a glass one? If so, is this still worth it? Thanks!

By the way, I've used a decent number of vapes (portable and desktop), so for the other people who have tried other vapes, where on your list do you rank the MiVape?

I don't have anything to add to what I said about this offer on the previous page. My guess is it's an older model which means it might exhibit some wonky charging behavior; but for $70 you might decide it's worth it. We're all hoping to see an all- glass mouthpiece soon which would make the airpath all glass.

I have a couple of other vapes besides the miVape but don't know how to rank them since they all do different things. Sorry, I know that doesn't help much.

I realize that my response last night may not have been very helpful. I had just returned from my wife's birthday dinner where much wine had been consumed and I wasn't up to the task of an informative post.

I still can't rank my vapes but I can say this about the miVape: if you are a connoisseur of taste and smell, the miVape is a great addition to your arsenal. You can really taste the difference between different strains. If you are someone who likes to get the most out of your herb, the miVape excels at providing lots of vapor from tiny little amounts of weed. If you vape oils and concentrates, reports are that the miVape excels in that area. (I haven't tried it in that mode myself.) I am not so sure the miVape is a good tool for sessions with more than one friend because it works best with small amounts in the cup (to avoid charring).

The Puffitup price is tremendous, but if it is for an earlier version of the device, there is a chance you might experience some wonkiness around charging. But if your unit has a problem, Dan at Vaporfection will definitely be super responsive and take care of you.

I hope this info is a bit more helpful.

I like the mivape, it's probably my 3rd most used

1. Grasshoppper, use it in a variety of situations about 90% of the time
2. Pax2 for groups and mixing Cannabis with tobacco and other herbs
3. miVape as @moondog says it's a cannasuer device. I don't use it much, more novelty but I enjoy it when I do and $70 is awful cheap

Went to the Vaporfection site to see if there was any news about the glass mouthpiece and the following page came up:

"Vaporfection.com is currently undergoing maintenance.

In the meantime, please check out the awesome forced-air touch-screen desktop viVape 2 Vaporizer and the sleek new portable miVape Vaporizer on our partner site, VaporNation.com.

If you have any questions about an order, please contact us atsupport@vaporfection.com or 866-997-6111.

Have a great day!"

Don't know what it means; hopefully a new, improved website will be plastered with pics and info about the new glass mouthpiece.

More clues (or maybe not):

Got a sale email from EZVapes that includes an offer for $50.00 off the miVape. When you click on the link, you see that the unit is already reduced to $229 (from $259). So, final price is $179. BUT, the unit is sold out.

Perhaps new stock with glass mouthpieces will be on its way soon?

The latest update from obsessive-mivape-watcher-central:

The Vaporfection website is back up. Apparently, they were switching servers. No word yet on an all- glass mouthpiece. They still direct you to Vapornation to purchase a unit or parts. Vapornation shows the mivape and the old mouthpiece as in stock.

Must admit, I'm starting to get a wee bit anxious to see an all-glass mouthpiece assembly. I did some cleaning of various parts of a couple of my vapes this morning. Took the screen out of the miVape mouthpiece and it's starting to look pretty grim inside the assembly. But I'm at a loss as to how to effectively clean it. We know soaking it in iso is not the way to go. Water won't touch the gunk in there.

Has anyone actually been able to run a pipe cleaner through the assembly?

Where is this vape made where do I have to send for warranty? Also does the mouth piece fold back into the unit or do you have to remove it when not in use.

Thanks

Returns get sent to CA and the customer service is top tier. The mouthpiece does indeed fold into the unit for storage. You only have to remove it for loading and cleaning.

@Astedra stay away from this vape. It's a cheap piece of plastic crap and the worst vape I've tried.
Wow. I wouldn't give the miVape a 100% recommendation without reservations. Not living up to expectations, yeah, but I wouldn't call it "crap".

"Worst vape" you've tried? Looking at your list, the only vape I've also used is the MFLB and I have to say I enjoy using the miVape more than the MFLB. But one person's meat is another's etc, etc. Still waiting to get my grasshopper and I'm confident that will move the miVape out of the starting lineup.

Vaporfection is out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Why would warranty returns be sent to CA?

New mouthpiece needs to come out...until then miVape seems bust! Hate to say that cause Dan is a great guy and this device surely has potential.

Dan had me send my unit to LA. Couldn't tell you why.

Agreed about the mouthpiece. When the whole path is glass and the mouthpiece is easily cleaned, this will be a great tool in the arsenal.

I don't have one of these but if I did I would try soaking the mouthpiece in a ziplock bag with some hot ass water and some oxyclean . This cleans heavily reclaimed glass pieces with no iso needed ... just an idea
