Hey OF, what is the difference using spacer cup up or down? With the spacer on the bottom do you have to place a screen on top of the herb to prevent pieces from
getting through?

The difference is mostly volume. I suspect most use with the cup away from the load for less herb?

No, I don't ever use screens in Ascent. I use top shelf bud mostly, ground medium to fine and well cured. Nothing gets past the four holes worth worrying about. Done that way the load gets fused together and stays put (I don't hit it until it's ready, that too can lead to dust getting past?).

The spacers or flowers can be used many ways, I suggest experimenting with them to see what you like best.

One last thought, if you want to ask me (or anyone else) a specific question regarding some ongoing topic I suggest you 'like' that post you're referring to, quote it or 'mention' the Member (use the "@" with their user name) so I/we will know you've posted? Answering posts like the one above (without those clues) is random chance, really.

I did not know that there is no heat from the bottom, but now that you mention it, it makes sense.
The filaments in the ceramic cannot bend around a 90 degree angle, so yes, the bottom is not "heated" directly. However, the little foot at the bottom of the bowl is where the temperature sensor that corresponds to the PCB is, so the temperature reading is from the bottom. Ceramic likes to heat evenly, and the bottom will reach the same temperature as the walls because the unit won't stop heating until that sensor says it's reached your set temperature.

Would putting a spacer over the sensor make the temperature less reliable?

If yes, by enough that we would notice?

The Davinci spacers have holes in them. I've placed my spacer from Davinci on the bottom of the bowl with no heater problems.

I played around with my spacers and glass flowers to find what works best for me. What one person might like may not work for you. More practice and experiments in the name of science is required.

I've had great results with glass flowers, cheap & reliable. There isn't a lot of visible vapor productions but it tastes great & gets the job done. I'm not a cloud chaser. Those hits in the 330-345F temp range are delicious!

I have had some difficulty fully cleaning the chamber though. I typically stick an alcohol prep pad in there & use the included tool or one of the many dab tools I have laying about to wipe the ceramic. However I'm getting some buildup where the ceramic meets the bottom of the chamber that i'm having difficulty removing. Anyone figured out a solid method for this? Definitely does not seem like the type of thing you want to submerge in isopropanol

Well the spacer will take heat from the ceramic. The sensor is inside the little foot so the most that could happen is you might get a delay small delay in heat up time and a small drop in battery life from heat transfer from the foot to the spacer. On the other hand, what might actually happen is the unit would continue heating until the area touching the foot is the temperature you set it to, which would be a good thing as long as you aren't concerned about the minuscule loss of battery and heat up time to do so. I would think if you're using a spacer, you're more concerned about vapor quality than battery life though and it's probably an immeasurable amount anyways. Play around with it a bit if you want and let us know what you think.

Hi! I know you are not the customer support, but i tried over you homepage and did not recieve an answer.

My Brother gave me last christmas an Ascent, and i loved it from the first hit.
I wanted to register my Ascent on your homepage, but i realized my brother did not give me a Bill from the Shop where he had bought it for me... I asked him, but he cant find it any more, also he is not sure where he bought it, i guess he should smoke less :D

My unit works great, so there is no issue now. But i wanted to ask, what to do if my unit stops working some day?
Can i recieve your customer support with my unit? Or is there no chance for that?

Thank you VERY much, since i have my Ascent with me every where, my health raised and i can medicate me everywhwere i want, which is a great thing for me. Thanks!!

Hey guys.
My sister wants a portable vaporizer that she can carry in her bag...
I found this in my country for no hassle for 200bucks.
My question is, how easy is this for use to a smoker who is a novice with weed and clueless with vaporizing...

How would you compare this to the Solo and PAX2?

Thanks.

Not sure about PAX, never tried one, but I'd vote it over Solo in most key areas for the use you describe. Lots of 'cell phone flavor' to help make it easy to get along with. The glass parts are internal and well protected unlike stems for Solo/Air. The package is probably more attractive? A big plus is the very intuitive controls and display. Once you set her up, she's good.

More 'user friendly' at least the user you describe?

Good luck to both of you. Good show she has a brother to help......

Hi, OF, its been a long time...
I'm currently with only 1 vape as I'm afraid to order and go to jail ( I officially not allowed to use cannabis for 3 years or I'll go to jail - if caught ;) )

Interesting to hear you thoughts about this vs the solo, this seems to fit me more likely...

What do you mean by cell phone flavor?

I can not comment on your legal issues, but I have seen the Ascent booklet and it does not mention cannabis at all.

It even gives an aromatherapy chart showing the vape point of various herbs, clove, St. John's wort etc.

It looks and 'feels' like a cell phone. To a casual observer, that's what it is inside her purse. I'm not at all sure what it might look like in yours.........

People who accept/understand cell phones are also likely to use that as a 'bridge' to a vape at the device level.

Glad to hear you're surviving well, we also have folks that simply disappear from the Forums. Looking forward to the next installment. Perhaps your loving sister will let you try her Ascent.......

Regards and best wishes.

Well she wants a pan styled, and I offered this one because I saw someone sell it...who knows, I might buy this one...
I was going for the solo in a cheap EBAY sell but now I might find this one for about 50$ more...
Since I remember you strongly in the Solo thread, I can count on you recommending this one.

Oh well, so I can get one for like 185 USD...it was used once and was bought for 330 USD...

Decisions...

Lots of places have new ones for $199.

Check and compare what comes with the used Ascent vs new.

Someone was selling an Ascent in the classifieds here.

Hey dude, if I was in the states, I would never thought otherwise...

I can get a "used" (only once) for 185usd which seems fair since it is priced in my country for 330USD!

Is it true that the best results is to use 0.5g ???
I don't vape more than 0.2g ...

The Ascent, being a conduction vape will produce more vapor with more material. The more material you have being heated making contact with heated surface area, the more vapor production you will get. It will effectively vaporize whatever you put in it, you just might not get huge clouds on less than a full pack.

This doesn't tell me much, how much is a full chamber? .5g?

I'm getting huge clouds with .2g in the Cloud EVO, why shouldn't it be the same with the Acscent?

I'm gettting resonable clouds out of 0.125g in the Ascent BUT that is using proper drawing technique and timing AND after having applied a fix for the air leak AND using the puck technique. Otherwise indeed it's very wispy at best...

PS: you can replace the puck by glass flowers or spacers, replace the o-ring leak fix by another fix, but I don't think you can do anything about how soft you must draw and how much you need to wait between hits.

The Evo is a convection unit. Heated surface contact area doesn't apply so much there because it's the air your drawing over the material that is hot. Furthermore, the Ascent bowl is much larger than the Evo bowl. The best advice I can give is the more material and tighter the pack with the Ascent, the bigger clouds you will get.

OK I see, then sadly, this device is not for me...
If I lived in the US, things would have been better...but .2g a day is pretty much what I can afford for a day.

0.2 grams seems like a lot in a Cloud ELB

Really? not for me.
