Meaning if you have the unit in your pocket with the battery installed and the button is pressed accidentally it will heat up. That is why you store the battery separately. It is that simple. There is a heater, a button and battery connected by wire. If you complete the circuit the heater will turn on.

As mentioned many times this vape has no electronics. The electronics are replaced by that grey matter supercomputer between your ears.

I probably won't be using this away from home but I might just fix up an "off" switch regardless.

It seems to me that it would be very easy to cut out a piece of that very thin plastic cutting board material to the same shape as the copper petal (but a little smaller so it isn't visible underneath it) and just leave a pull tab on one side - probably the side away from you in a normal right-side up grip.

So if the inner plastic petal is showing then the unit is "live" and if it doesn't show then the unit is "off" completely. Also, with the plastic petal trapped under the copper petal when the Milaana is in a pocket (especially a tight pocket) then the pocket confinement will also keep the plastic tab from moving out of position as well......preventing any pocket firing.
guitar pick?

Ahhh....that clarifies things a bit....thx.

Regarding the power button, is my understanding correct in that the button has to be continually depressed to power the unit in that it is not an on/off switch, per se? Such that, (if my understanding is correct) it would be unlikely to inadvertently depress the button for 6 or 7 seconds in one's pocket, continuously, and thereby discharge the battery or worse?

I don't think the Milaana is supposed to be a fully designed portable w stealth and pocket-ability as it's big points, it's just a smaller/simpler/cheaper path to Zion heater tech, w a nice form factor while in use.
With this design being aiming to be both cost conscience as well as stealth

Its in fact still described under the site as "sure to please the stealth crowd".

I for one didn't buy Milaana as a "poor mans Zion"..

Hopefully my little plastic workaround works well, I have no intentions of lugging around a battery box the size of the unit itself. I still believe this should be (shouldve been?) taken into account, be it with a deeper firing button or means to recognize polarity.

A little extra thickness (to set in button) to the body wouldn't be the end of the world, cost much (if any..?) more or add any parts. Recognizing polarity would likely require electronics?

My Eagle Torch has a simple switch that prevents me from depressing it if in my pants pocket. Is it so difficult to implement something like that into the milaana? I'd rather have that than a LED light. Just doesn't seem acceptable to have to pull the battery.:2c:

Hopefully not or worse!
It's very likely to depress the button for many seconds. Something as simple as sitting down in a chair could do it.
Been there and have done that with a E-cig mod.

Oh geez that is NOT what I was going for at all, I see smaller, simpler, and cheaper as all good design positives and beyond that the Milaana tickles my aesthetics more than the Zion. But there's no locking stem and no stem storage, it's never been an all-in-one-piece solution. Any bit of plastic will break the circuit w/ battery in place - be super cheap to screen print some RBT guitar picks for inclusion? Even drill them so they're a permanent part of the post? - and I've always planned to have a battery box for an extra battery and a pre-loaded stem or two as part of the kit, that's minimal to me.

Yeah my Grasshopper is a smaller carry - just the unit and a little pill fob with pre-ground - so it'd win in overall stealth, but the Grasshopper also rules stealth because it's quick, and Milaana is likely just as fast (and w/o awkward-for-one-hand clicker). If stealth is your goal Milaana is capable, but it's always had more pieces to manage before you hit.

Design is all about compromise and it's usually here in the pre-release phase that people have the strongest reactions to those compromises (happening on the Firefly 2 thread daily), maybe it's part of waiting?

Wow! Did not know that!

Still, with vented battery and vented vape wouldn't there be very little chance of an explosive event?

The batteries do not reach anywhere near complete discharge before Milaana stops producing heat.

I do not know anything about the tech stuff of the batteries but I have been using several pairs very sloppily for a year. They have shorted out on my keys and been abused severely. Dropped in mud, chicken shit and other ghastly farm things. The batteries RBT has in the store are robust, dependable and safe.

I don't know about others, but you had me at "chicken shit"!

My posts can sometimes get quite long. ;)

But I can keep it short this time, simply because you've pretty well matched my own opinions in everything you've touched on. I completely agree with your posted sentiments on usage.

tl;dr version - I agree! :D

Rocked the Mi all day today. One can do 5 bowls or more off one battery in my experience, but i prefer a fresh battery after 4 depending on load size, moisture, ground vs. chunk, size of bowl, ect. 3 to 6 bowls on a single battery is easily possible.

One could load huge bowls or micro bowls, and screen adjustments really provides some variety and versatility in providing the experience you prefer. Size, basket vs dome, distance from the heater, ect.

Feathering the button on Mi is awesome to keep ideal temps with a fresh battery.

I am liking the Mi more and more and it does perform almost like a mini Zion. Feathering can provide the lower temp hit that some will crave.

A little extra thickness
You'll be happy when you find a case that is the perfect size for the Mi, and you'll be thinking, damn...sure am glad this wood wasn't a mm thicker or this wouldn't fit!

Joking aside, i was concerned about having to "lug" around extra gear as well. I figured, something like the GH leather case (holds everything you need for the GH) is likely to be released for the Mi. SOMEONE will find a camera case, eyeglass case, SOMETHING, that holds your Mi, stem, and extra bats perfectly. It just happens, people find answers.
My simplest solution, which I plan to utilize the moment I get my Mi, is to strap a rubber band around it, and slide my stem in the rubber band to keep it to the unit, but not add the length.
I also plan on adding a little strap to the Mi that has little loops to hold stems and batts. It'll be able to slide around the Mi, and also have a clip to it so I can attach it to my belt if I don't want it on the Mi. Something along those lines (I'm imagining the AAir belt clip case).

If you store the unit in your pocket with the battery installed the vape will heat. That is why batteries must be removed for storage as noted above. The instructions will clearly state that when they are printed.

I am hoping that RBT will be making the small stem standard. It fits in a battery case next to a battery.

Really like the idea of a short stem like this that can fit in a battery case. Even better if a 2 battery case is available. Stem and spare battery in a compact case, or stem and stash case if short outing only.

Since i am a broken record, a coloured glass stem option please (happy to pay extra, i would just like the option). This photo @MrPeanut posted outside the tent is the perfect example of the kind of thing that a coloured stem will help with. The cool factor of Pulling out a beautiful wood vape will be shattered when you attach a dirty stem. (Don’t say clean it more often, it can look like that after a couple of bowls sometimes...ie well before the end of the night)

Killer the Milaana went ice fishing today. Beautiful day in the Adirondacks.

Of course an @Ed's TnT stem will work, so hopefully they will be ready in time if coloured glass is not possible.

This applies to all vapes with glass, not singling out this one

There will be colored glass eventually if things are successful, that is an easy extra to add some day.... But I hope GonGs get more priority as a new accesory personally

There will definitely be one battery and one two batt case included pretty sure, and as I said there's a chance of two batteries included even.

And yeah all this battery button stuff is mostly speculation, I don't think it's a big deal, I leave mine in at home and such, and I've kept it in out and about but in a hoodie pocket. True with the button and without stem lock its not super pocket friendly, particularly if you like tight pants (I do not). It's girth reminds me a bit of the Elevape, but it's still plenty stealthy imo

Coloured glass would be a nice touch doesn't overly bother me personally, having a spare one inside the battery case (included and quite possibly with battery or two as well, another nice touch :)) and still with room for a stem and stash what's not to like.

Has anyone tried putting Mi into a average ecig case at all, got a couple of these knocking about the place most notably for the dabstar which hardy gets used expect when we visit friends and I want a crafty puff of oil. Plenty of space in one of those for batteries, stashes, stems you name it.

It fits in an Ego case, but tough to do with stems and batts. I keep a bunch of stems in that case, and the Milaana is separate in a velvet pouch (it barely fits in ESV case). Out and about I'd only take one stem probably, wooden or otherwise, we'll see. I agree that short glass stem seems best overall, hopefully I can try one too. Standard package should include that and a spare long stem I believe, storing it with the batteries in a double or quad case is what I had been planning to do for out and about too

@IAmKrazy2 So now is it OK to use an ELB in an 18/18mm female adapter with the Milaana?

Last time I asked if this was OK to do because it's so convenient, I was told it could/would damage the heater and void the warranty if using an ELB in the Milaana.

Kick ass if it works without damaging the heater!

Awesome vape porn, Thank You for the video!!!

I am not the manufacturer but.. If you cause damage to the heater or anything else by using unapproved parts any damage that occurs because of using those parts would not be covered by the warranty. Would RBT fix it for a cost? Like as if you dropped it and the female glass broke? Probably. Would it void your warranty? Probably not.

We have already talked US joints. Just always remember using unapproved methods is at your own risk.

Edit. Reminds me of a Hunter S Thompson quote. "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me."
