Wow, this guy is really reasonable, price wise. I've been thinking of getting a mini beaker or something similar for a while. I might have to check out one of his tubes. I'll be using this with my Zap. Do I need anything other than the downstem that comes with and would you recommend buying an extra downstem (just in case....I'm a total klutz)?

I think an extra downstem can be nice if you're worried, but you can always just order another if it does break.

I've tried contacting simpleglasstubes about getting a GonG straight tube with no response, I don't know if anyone has had better luck contacting him.

Before I decided to splurge on the glasstafarian that SGT foot tall beaker was my second choice.

Yea that video and his bubblers inspired me to get a 7mm dub made. Should be in my hands next week some time.

Think I now need a simple, clear, 14mm straight tube to keep my bubbler company. I want something thick and well made. Around $100. I only like clear glass and no labels.

Any suggestions?

603 Glass has some pretty nice bubblers for reasonable prices, his work looks far better than Simple Glass.

I saw that interview when I researched my bubbler, too.

glasstafarian(next to DWB) seems to be the leader of custom glass on Etsy right now. I have gotten a few small accesories from glasstafrian and they are cool and well priced and his tubes and bubs look sick.

This piece is not very big and doesnt have a lot of drag, I also have conditioned myself to take very very long deep hits so maybe I just clear it harder. it clears really fast, especially with the stem in.I need to make sure the stem is secured in the joint or else it wobbles a bit.
plus there is litterally only 1-2mm between the PD wood and the sherlocks neck when its attached, its a PERFECT fit.

glassdistortion just has to catch up then he will make more pieces for the shop. he also told me that fairly soon he will be making more of 'his style' stuff, I asked what that was but didnt get a reply. so I will play the waiting game for that one. Etsy has some great options, Tstat.

I also forgot to mention that my bub had the can made of 50mm tubing, a bit wider then what he was putting on the others(45 or 42 I beleive)

If someone were to order from glassdistortion again, I would advise them to ask if he could cut more slits and also if possible use a different grinding wheel and make the slits thinner on the showerhead diffuser, it would make it less chug and give it a nice smooth fizz.

yea Im not sure EXACTLY what hes capable of(from what I have seen on his shop) so I didnt ask for anything too specific like that. I would have asked for flame polished slits but there wasnt an appropriate time to do so as originally I bought a ready to ship listing, which was the wrong thing, the whole delay was confusing but now Ive got my bearings. haha but for the price Im not complaining at all. I really dig the shape

I am glad I am not the only one! I bought the exact same bubbler and for $80.00 it rocks. Mine works great but is really sloppy with deep toolmarks on the base and a crooked showerhead and mouthpiece. I don't know if this appropriate to discuss here but my experience with glassdistortion was much less than satisfactory.

GD lists items as "in stock - 1 available" but this is not true. They are all made to order. If they would just put that on their listing that would be the honest thing to do.

The shipping works like this --- exactly 2 weeks after you place your order they will send you a Priority Mail tracking number via Paypal. However, they don't actually ship the package. Two weeks later I contacted them and was given a story about a conspiracy going on with their local post office not putting packages into the system. After receiving my package I asked my friend who works for USPS to check to see when it was actually shipped. They shipped it 19 days AFTER sending me a tracking number!

Functionally great but sloppy work and less than acceptable honesty in service.

Funny how this type of thing never happens when I order from ALT! :brow:

You cant compare Etsy to ALT.

just like you cant compare ebay to the actual manufacturer store.

Im sorry that your not happy with your order,I hope everyones order arrives safely and such. I know a bunch of people are still waiting on their piece.

Eh, glasstafarian... I ordered a showerhead downstem from him and this is what I got:

dsc0200um.jpg

It was sloppy work and definitely not a showerhead. When I asked him about it he said, "its a "showerhead" as in it has 9 slits...it has as many slits as a true showerhead, the only kind that has more slits tend to clog and break because theyre so thin to fit more in that small space. also i assume people buy the listing i have and it lists simply as a diffuser."

In my original inquiry, I asked "I was wondering if you could make me a 3 inch long 14/14mm showerhead downstem. If you can, how much would it cost?" I thought I was clear when I asked if he could do it and he took me up on the request.

I won't be buying from him again.

What a jackass, he damn well knows what a showerhead diffuser is supposed to be, instead he is just capitalizing on the popularity and name recognition of the showerhead and then doing a bait and switch for a standard slit diffuser which is far easier to make. I have always thought his work looked a little sloppy from pictures, Pappy's piece is the nicest one I have seen, but honestly the pricing is not that far off from some well known artists to even take the chance IMO.

Many of the artists on ALT were on Etsy at one time or another, many got there start there, but yeah you can't compare the service from most Etsy artists to a actual web store and the answer is simple: when you order from Etsy you are dealing directly with the artist in most cases so people should cut some slack given they have to answer all emails, questions, pack all items, send them off, on top of spending all day in front of a hot torch actually making the glass they are selling.

I want to get this and use with my WDZ. I want to direct draw with my stem like NYCDiesel does with her PD. This is what he wrote back. "That won't work for that piece if you want I can upgrade that piece to have a size 14 grommet down stem for 10 more that's without a pull stem or 15 more for cone stem and upgrade down stem"

Will this work with my WDZ? For $50 shipped it seems like a good deal.

That thing looks the pits man, the deal seems better than it is. Just a few more dollars you can get a HVY Beaker or a SYN Tube which will last you for years and you can actually sell down the road if you want to upgrade.

thanks for the advice. i was trying to go the cheap route because i've never vaped with a bong.

nycdeisel, pipe looks nice. how much was it?

Honestly if you want to vapor bong, you dont need a big, expensive, or complicated piece. Most people who want to vapor bong go the simple route, a short straight tube or beaker with a nice downstem.

Mine was $80 shipped, a very good deal IMO.

Though they don't have them listed right now, Headyglass has their own in-house blown recessed GonG bubblers for a little more than a hundred dollars or so, they have good build quality.

pinoy I totally forgot about the SSFG travel tubes, they are 60 shipped with an upgraded showerhead downstem. 50 shipped with regular slitted downstem
