I go where the thrills are
I think I have read somewhere that the FF batteries would work but have no tab on them? I don't see a tab on the pics on the FF website can you elaborate on this Mitch, and do you know if the external charger/plug will still work on these new batteries?

Only diff I can see is new one is has more amp hours right?
Hi RoBob,
On February 28th, I emailed Firefly to ask if batteries, external chargers, concentrate pads, etcetera, are interchangeable with Firefly 2 ? Answer: YES ! WooHoo !

You can use the old batteries in the FF2. However, I was told "they will fit, but you might never get it out!" (I'm sure you could pry it out, but the 2 is apparently designed for the tabbed batteries.) So...I've never tried it.

I remember you mentioning the tabs however when i ordered an extra battery with my ff2 it uses the same part # as the original ff did on their site. Also in the vape critic review you can see the battery basically looks the same I see no tab on it anywhere

See the round bit jutting out slightly on the right side?

You can see how it kind of seats into a corresponding divot in the battery compartment, which is presumably why the older batteries are hard to remove from the FF2.

I was thinking about low doses and micro doses... Mitch, do you think micro doses of flower would work if the wax pad was used as filler for the bowl? ... Flower with the wax pad above it...
this is exactly how I use my ff1. Stops the little bits flying through the mouthpiece, helps retain some heat in the chamber and makes cleaning a weekly / monthly chore instead of per session. :)

TY for pics Mitch, I will have to do some testing with my batteries when I get my FF2, the funny thing is their website lists the battery as working with FF1/FF2 so it must not be too bad to remove I hope.

anyone else having preorder regret? can you cancel the preorder? after hearing the first firefly is about as reliable as crafty I think I'm done with cheapo made $300+ vapes.. Add on top of that the company behind the FF dropped the warranty on number 2 by OVER 60%.

its like they went and said hey lets double the battery power, says its free ( but charge 60+ more over the first FF ) and butcher the warranty..

This shows me the companay behind FF have zero respect, pride or assurance of their own product.. Imagine if S&b made a crafty 2 and butchered/slashed the warranty on that.. Who would trust that ish

It's not so much that it's cheap made as the technology is not there yet imo. Bought the crafty had buyers regret after the first warranty issue, but I have come to accept it. Love my vapes I have the firefly to and am waiting for a brake down as I have it close to 3 months. That's the vape game for now. Ff2 seems to be an improvement over the first one at least according to the vape critic so hopefully it's not just the double battery life.

Your characterization of both the FF2 and FF the company are wildly incorrect.

1. Ff1 reliability issues aren't applicable to FF2. They fixed the issue (coil stability) that caused most FF1 failures. Even the pre-production FF2 units are extremely stable devices. Things will occur with the FF2, but the failure rate of FF1 is unlikely to be repeated.

2. The Crafty and Mighty both have 2 year warranties....not sure how FF compares poorly to those, since you brought them up. 2 year warranties are very common in the portable world, and if you think every company should replace every device that fails in say the tenth month of year five, well, you expect a lot more for your vape dollar than I do. Most FF failures occurred in year one. (And four years from now, who knows what the portable landscape will look like?)

3. I know the FF folks personally, and you are both incorrect and frankly a little insulting in your characterization of them and their attitude towards their work and their customers. They have eaten, breathed, and slept the FF2 development over the past 18 months and while no company or product is perfect, they appear to have developed a seriously-badass improvement over their v.1 FF. To base such a harsh perception of them over the warranty change is just your personal slant and not reflective of their attitude. They are justly proud of what they've done with the FF2.

4. The higher cost is for an improved product, not the extra battery. Is it worth an extra sixty bucks? That's a personal judgement call. It is an expensive vape, no question. One of the nice things about capitalism is no one is forcing you to buy anything. Folks decide for themselves what something is worth to them.

If you approach it with an open mind you will likely be blown away by the FF2. I hope you'll be as quick to share your positive experiences with it as you were to post anticipatory negative feelings. (In other words, as wise men used to tell me "don't borrow trouble". I'd be shocked if you didn't really, really love the thing once it's in your hands.)

@mitchgo61 - sorry, but this is a big thread and I may have missed something. In your sig I see "FF2 (x2)" - have you actually laid hands on a pair of production units already?

edit - uh, nevermind. @Robob helped me with my reading comprehension..

I ordered a black FF2. I am really looking forward to this vape. The idea of instant on/off really appeals to me. Love my MFLB, but just doesn't give me the taste I want. Not a fan of changing the temperature via an iphone app, but given that I have other vapes with temperature control, I'm ok with it. The removable battery is a big plus. I would prefer if the price were under $300, but I feel this could be my most perfect vape to date.

P.S. I actually ordered the FF1 in December, but while in route, I did more research and decided against even opening the box on its arrival. The FF2 looks like a winner.

I hadn't heard a single thing about this until Sneaky Pete did a review (I'm a subscriber.) I was eyeing the FF before but the FF2 has me very intrigued.

I have a Pax 2 and while it's been great for two people (and is beyond stellar for being out-and-about) I really want a portable convection vape so we can easily pass it and be able to hit it at our pace. The FF2 seems like a great choice but I had some concerns:

- Pros: Easy to clean, apparently the best flavor, cool hits, on-demand, long battery life
- Cons: Mobile app to control temp, only a 2 year warranty, no pass-through charging, the possibility of needing to stir

The only con that really makes me question it is the poor warranty. If not for that I would have pre-ordered already.... well, and the fact that I'm really really not a fan of the whole app thing. That what made me go for the Pax 2 instead of the Crafty.

I've also been considering the Grasshopper. It's much cheaper, more discrete, and has a lifetime warranty. But I don't know if the harsher, hotter hits would make it worth it.

I'm also curious to know about how long you have to draw on each to get a big, satisfying hit?

Does anybody have an insight? Thanks! :)

I haven't jumped on the preorder yet but really like the upgrades they've made to the FF2. One of my problems with the FF1 was those small vapor channels in the lid. Had to keep them perfectly clean or the draw became way to restricted .
Was a major pain which makes the new lid design so sweet looking.
Can't wait to wipe one down now! Looks to easy.
Appreciate ALL, wow tons, of the great info that @mitchgo61 has provided. Very informative and honest reviews.
Now I know it's 33% smaller than the original but can't find the dimensions anywhere.
Would someone please list them.

Just had Fed-Ex drop me a package from FireFly and what did I find...the extra battery and concentrate pads from my pre order?? no update on the order on their site or any packing slip with the package so not sure if this is normal haha, anyone else receive part of their pre-order?
The battery that I received was the "new" style with the tab and 770mAH

They probably are waiting on the first FF2 batch and got the batteries in first. So they shipped those to you as soon as they had them. I'm sure you'll get the 2 once they get em. You might be the first person (around these parts) to get your hands on a production unit! Pretty exciting!

I got the pre-order email late the night before the official launch so I'm hoping I will see one soon! I will enjoy the extra battery in my original FF for now, just seems like they would have emailed me tracking or something saying on the invoice online that it was partially shipped. Maybe we will see first batch shipping before may

Whoever preordered, did they charge your cards yet?

They've charged my card, but my 'order status' on my account page says 'Processing', since my order on the evening of Feb 29. I emailed them a week or so ago, and asked about that, and have heard nothing back.
