Discontinued Zion vaporizer

People have mentioned the size of Zion as being a con.
After a few weeks of daily portable duties, I think it might end up being a pro.
I use the stash container without any problems.
I like that it's all self contained, and everything has its own spot.

The Milaana will be smaller, but having to carry a stem, a storage container, stir stick, and an extra battery (perhaps), might end up being more to haul around?

One requires a case, the other is the case I guess.

I was thinking about some custom stem ideas for the Zion.
Any and all thoughts are welcome!
Maybe a steamroller with a removable plug in line above the bowl, for easy screen access, and possibly a place for abv particles to get trapped.
If plug is 18 mm male, when removed, it would allow the evo to pair nicely.:brow:
Talk about leaking vape like a well punctured balloon!

Welcome to The Cult of Zion @Healthierlifestyle, we are happy to have you as a lifetime customer!

Also I see we've topped 100 pages of good vibes! Outstanding!!

Now it's storytime!

Gather around, friends, and I'll tell you a little about RBT's humble beginnings as seen from this designers point of view. Hope I still have a job after this, har har!

Someone posted a little ways back something to the effect of ...seems like RBT listened to everyone's gripes about vaporizers and invented one to address them all...or somesuch. Props to that guy, I hope they will forgive my laziness for not quoting them directly. They don't know how right they were.

RBT is a colleague from one of my past lives and we've stayed in touch more or less, mostly less if I'm being honest but as we all know, that's life when people part company, but still enough to share jokes, major life events, and whatnot. We hooked up for a ski trip once for a score and to check out his "cool new vape" which was that Vapir unit shaped like a capital "D", but he forgot the little pucks that hold the shiz.

Hard to imagine, right?

Anyway, I had already formed my opinion of 'vaping' by that point and knew it had never fully cut it for me as a long time combustor, so it didn't break my heart. I did go out and get one of those units and as usual, it didn't quite cut it for me not to mention it seemed to blow more vapor out its seams than into the bag. Meh, back to the pipe collection.

A couple months shy of a year ago he calls me up all mad scientist and heyyyy buddyyy, can I come visit, I have a project that I could use your help on. He briefly described to me how he's completely fed up with existing vaporizer technology, and got so sick of all the BS and crap engineering that he decided to make something that actually worked, and so he engineers up with this brilliant heater system. I think he was even just thinking 'one off' in the beginning, it was just so he and his friends would have a vaporizer that functions as it ought to, YOU BET! Come on over! (bring your good shit) I'm always down for a nice hangout and helping my buds with projects.

So we're hanging out with some real good stuff, looking over his sketches and familiarizing me with the concept and where he's at with the design and where he'd like it to go, the usual project team design kick off kind of discussion, and he smiles and says 'I brought a prototype!' and proceeds to pull out some cube shaped box made of wood and drywall, taped together or maybe he was just balancing all the pieces. He has mad skills at holding several objects all at once and performing dexterous acts with them, it's quite amazing to watch. I won't be getting back to that.

So here he is with this wirey, screeny, naily drywall box with a couple openings looking all of a Smurf sized glory hole, hooks a battery up to it and proceeds to blow a couple meager clouds before catching some shit on fire in my bedroom. Wowwwww! Neeeeaaaat! Yeah, he could use a little help. A lot of help. Not talking about the project anymore. I digress...

Over the next few weeks I would cad up the latest concept, and every time we'd chat he'd have gone off in another direction and I'd be starting over. It's like herding kittens working with RBT. GENIUS kittens, though.

But the design had not yet found it's formula. That happened a little before @lwien started this thread. We were using cut borosilicate glass and thinking ceramic, but had not yet discovered how to work the tech into standard 'round' glass. I'm not sure what sparked that brilliant step in the evolution of Zion, that is between the universe and @RastaBuddhaTao , but whatever it was, that was the moment Zion was born.

A couple weeks after that we had the "2x4" design packaged which is still really the same packaging as today, less the lid and the nice round corners. Shortly into the detail design @KeroZen drew a wireframe 'lid' on one of our cad renderings, and a couple pre-alpha testers had also commented how nice a lid would be, and this is how the Zion got it's lid.

Add several months of FC community ideas and involvement, extremely valuable input from our insane beta test crew, lots of work to reduce the manufacturing steps required to produce, hundreds of hours of grueling old fashioned testing (i'm so hungry) and that form has been gently refined into what we see today as the first production Zions get ready to come to life.

and thanks to my good friend and his relentless pursuit of vapor perfection I haven't combusted for more than six months, smoking stopped cutting it for me the first time I tried my prototype and that, dear friends, is my Story of Zion.

But I like it!
It was 1a & 1b, and they are safe and sound, found underneath the worm casting handout I left on the desk. Please welcome 3a & 3b to the No13Baby team!

I also feel the need to clarify 'going through stems'. They are dirty, not broken. Sorry for any confusion. I'm gonna wash em out with 99% ISO and degummed hemp fibre, let the fibre evap, and stuff that in my stem and vape it! Soon. Probably right after I dip some dehydrated mango slices in tincture and let them evap. Has anyone ever vaped THC-coated mango before? Any tips?

But I like it!
(slightly off topic alert) - FWIW I've never vaped mango slices. I *did* however, a few weeks ago, get an order from a dispensary that included 80 mg of THC on 6 slices of dehy mango. I like trying dispensary things just to see how much better I can make them. I'm aiming at 100 mg per slice, and no, they aren't gonna get vaped. Just healthy snack food ;)

Now I'm debating infusing some lavender with some THC and testing that out in Club Zion... although what I *really* wanna do is make some moon rocks and try that in Baby. I'm thinking that could be an excellent use of time, oil and kief ;)

Edit - coming soon - a popcorn attachment for the Zion. Load is done when you smell butter!

Mangoes not just a tasty snack food, either. They're supposed to enhance your buzz. Think there is another thread or two that mention it, but check this one out for a good start.

They've been good to me when tried them, but hard to keep that old placebo effect in check when stoned - eh?

Ok I have a little game I've been playing but let me warn you it does have a hint of Russian roulette to it though. Ok first you need a clean stem to play properly. At least a free flowing one. Ok load up your stem then start at 50% and holed button down a bit then pull hard and see if you can out pull the heater. Step it on up if you dare. At 100% power and a quick little pre heat it takes a Big set of lungs to keep up with this heater. I don't think you can out pull it. I really don't. If you have even the slightest bit of restriction to your load you will combust for sure. I've been doing this just because I own no other vaporizer that can do this(except the butane powered of course). The flavor is as strong as the hits of course. And I must say that this Milaana will be as equally fun to play my little twisted vapor game.
Oh ya another big issue that can arise from this little game is vapor shooting out your eyes nose ears mouth and a few other choice places. And getting super unreal high.

Still waiting to get mine back.
Ditto. I know he's very busy with the Milaano and setting up business connections but I wish he'd slip ours into a mailer and send them on our way. Somehow it was easier waiting for my number to be called- just like I have another 6 months wait for the HI and I'm fine. But waiting for mine to be returned seems to be taking forever. Probably because he said he's mail one out as soon as he got the tracking number and that was weeks ago.

Just placed my order for the Zion. After recently getting a MiniVap and Herbalaire Elite I did not need another vape but it looks like something not to miss out on based on the reviews, so I caved.

Hopefully my last minute order put us at 40 sold or so and some additional goodies for all my FC compadres.

Now the wait begins...

Progress Update 02-27-2016
You are only going to get up to date information directly from RBT's website.

"Zion Update 2/27
The two units with voltage control knob failures have been repaired and are in test. These units will be shipped the week of 3/1. The third failed unit has shipped but not yet arrived. Once unit three is received and the root cause of it's failure is understood and corrected, Zion shipments will resume. The current supply of wire harnesses is at a rate of 5 -10 per week and will gate the shipments of the last of the first 50 units. The 200 units are in the hands of a local wood worker to have the doors, cover and cap machined so that they are ready after the first 50 are completed. A second supplier for wire harnesses is being qualified and should be complete in 4 - 6 weeks which is the last bottle production part that needs to be sourced for volume production. As the supply chain is maturing converting time consuming hand made components, our high volume manufacturing partner is building the production line and quality processes so they will be ready to build the 200. The last of the 50 will be completed in the lab.

Thanks to all who took advantage of the FC give-away, we have reached the "Give away a free Milaana" tier witch is awesome! "

So far i'm 20 pages deep..
just wanted to ask how much of a wait is there for ordering a new zion?
Like it ordered today when will it ship?

I believe the store is actually closed now, just missed it last night, so you'll have to wait for retail shops to get them in a few months...

Milaana (single battery unregulated model) is still open for pre order though, and a new Milaana order would likely ship before a new Zion order, since they are far simpler to produce

If I ordered before the closing last night would I be included in the lifetime? I just needed to make a change to my order.

Only if you bought the package that came with it... Or bought it separately on the site... Lifetime was included for orders before the store reopened in January only I believe

@steama, sorry you are unhappy and feel slighted. RBT gave everyone ample opportunity to jump on board in the beginning at rock bottom prices and a free lifetime warranty. Extending sales and warranty dates many times. He is a business and as such he has to price/warranty at a sustainable rate. Companies have sales all of the time. If you miss it they do not honor the coupon.
I am sure RBT will issue your refund when requested via the website.

Hopefully you will find your way back. It is a great vape and that company is just getting started.

I think it is shit that that all Zion buyers do not get a lifetime warranty. Those of us that missed them lifetime warranty pay more and get less.

For that reason I am seeking a refund.

Well sales were open for many months before, its the benefit of getting in early, all the price increases and changes to the warranty system were well publicized before they happened, so I personally feel that is a silly reason to get a refund but go for it if you feel it's warranted bud... I just think you're gonna want this as we discussed earlier, shame to bail now for that
