Is vaping as good as we think/hope?

Breathing in vapor that has condensed on the inside of a plastic bag has to contain "some" crap, eh?

To nitpick, once it's condensed it's no longer vapour, it's resin, and I'm not sure how you'd breathe that in. Also you seem to suggest the plastic bag will impart some properties onto the vapour, would like to know more about that.

For me and many others here, Alan, we want as clean of an air and vapor path as we can get and is one of the reasons why we like our air and vapor to come in contact with glass more than anything else. Personally, I don't want any of my vapor to come into contact with plastic. While there "could be" a health concern here, for me, it's more of a taste issue but I also fully realize that many can't taste the difference and/or are not concerned with the possible health issue. To each his/her own on this.

I'll continue to hold and voice my own opinion on the matter, of that's OK with you?

So, I'd like to thank you for breaking up the conversational flow with your informative interjection and clarifying that point. It's been good to be preached to, very informative, thanks.

I don't want another lesson, thanks.

Comments like this are very close to breaking our Be Nice rule. Please refrain from such confrontational remarks, sarcastic or not.

Thanks.

Typical Californian, bloody health freaks :)

No I understand where you're coming from. From my perspective, I was a very heavy smoker, and after switching to vaping every vape tastes awesome. Yes there is a big difference between the Volcano and the Evo, but the Volcano still tastes nice if you know what I mean. But tbh I'm unconvinced that using the Volcano exclusively would have any more negative effect on my health than using the Evo exclusively.

But we can all agree that using either instead of smoking will add years on your life. Which is why we're all here right :)

If I have not actually broken any rules I see nothing to refrain from. Were I taunting and inviting retort, that would be confrontational, but a sarcastic platitude is a simple expression of disdain, and that is not against the rules.

From our Forum Rules:
Rules are interpreted and applied at staff discretion.
Furthermore:
Public discussions of staff decisions are not permitted on this site.
Since you just broke that rule, you have been awarded a warning point.

I suggest you re-read the rules page more carefully.

This post is in violation of our "Be Nice" rule. Warning point issued.
No rule was broken, as per your post

therefore no decision on rules was made - do you understand?

ergo, there was no discussion about your precious staff status decision - do you see now?

but don't let that get in the way of your little tantrum at being made to look stupid over the rules you are supposed to understand, especially when there is a safe-space rule there to protect you from these very logical entanglements that you can't discuss your way out of.

so, go fuck yourself, and shove your point up your ass. prick.

I was a very heavy smoker..

As was I. 3 packs a day of cigarettes, health freak that I am, eh? Had to get it together, otherwise I probably wouldn't be here today.

Yup. Totally agree with ya on that.

Is there any truth that vaping gets rid of the paranoia/anxiety effects that some people get with THC by removing unwanted chemicals ?

I am not sure of the exact science but I read about it online somewhere.

Just a thought... those with sensitive skin know the value of a good lotion or oil for their skin, in fact some would tell you their skin needs a supplement to be at it's healthiest.
An oil with healing properties, perhaps cancer preventative properties, might be beneficial to lung tissue in the same way, depending on how it's delivered.

Howdy! Thanks for the intriguing question and thanks to those who have added their two cents.

I love that vaporizing is so much healthier -- even if it is probably not 100% certifiably-good-for-you like eating a piece of organic broccoli, for example.

However, I hang around a lot of people who still combust and I have to say that it's still much easier to fire up a joint and pass it around, or pop a little nug into a pipe, etc. -- fewer people carry around vaporizers, and if they do those vapes often aren't as approachable as a good old-fashioned joint. There is a social thing about that, that has not been completely replaced or recreated yet in the vape community.

I will take a puff every now and then to be sociable but it's so icky compared to the wonderful complexity and freshness that comes from a vape puff. I will often share my vape with folks, but my carry-around model has a teeny capacity compared with what might be hospitable for sharing!

Hopefully the technology will keep marching on so that we can have a small, appealing handheld with a large enough capacity that won't overcook the herb, batteries won't run out, newbies can figure out how to use without a big introduction, blah blah, so that it will be a simple, enjoyable, intuitive replacement for the good old-fashioned joint to pass around in a circle. I know some units have come close, depending on your experience and values, but not quite enough for me (I have five portable vapes now).

Good points!
What portable vapes you got? I'm hoping the Apollo will close this gap.. about to hold 0.3, replacable batts, convection.. could be the one for me.

No. Not true. I get paranoid and get some panic attacks when I vaped by myself alone. Possibly though, I'll say its because of my severe depression with my ex. But, it exists.

What people need to realize, regardless of how you put it, you're doing more harm than good. Whenever you choose to intake any time of substance that alters your brain, we forget the methods we take drastically decreases health whether you see the differences or not.

When we choose to vape/smoke tobacco or marijuana, it's a given you're harming your body. The choice is yours, it's all about which method you choose to harm yourself. It's pick your poison. We all know that. Never be oblivious to anything that is potentially harmful.

I guess I will use something and alter my brain vs harming my vital organs such as kidneys and liver. Folks use cannabis for pain and many other medical conditions. We are all doing our best to protect our health by vaporizing. We have chosen the healthier alternative to deliver our meds other than combusting.
I choose cannabis over pills.

I use how I feel as a gauge whether cannabis is harming me. Everything in moderation if you are able.

If something is making you feel like you are harming yourself, don't do it.

a couple things re paranoia/anxiety:
- sativas are considered more risky in terms of 'getting into your thoughts too much' so you might try staying away from them if possible
- there's a whole thread about different temperatures and how that can affect the high; some people report a more 'uplifting' high from lower temperatures

Disagree 1000% :)
Cannabis is a true miracle medicine so please don't broadcast that it does more harm than good. Used properly (vaped) and in moderation, it assists the body's own endocannabinoid system to "heal itself".
After reviewing research from all over the world and anecdotal evidence (I've done hundreds of hours worth of review/studying), the only logical conclusion for me is that cannabis is the greatest medicine ever created and on a benefit to harm scale it would be 10,000 to 1.

The alterations to your body/mind/spirit from cannabis are GOOD alterations.
So we'll agree to disagree here :)

I find the expectorant qualities of the vapour are quite effective. I cough after vaping but the colour of the mucus is clear with no particulates. I can contrast this with the yellow/black mucus that I had when I was smoking the herb.

Vapourizing is far kinder on the lungs and I don't having any short term (2 yr of vaping) issues.
