Discontinued The Grasshopper

Yeah guys, quick note on the Grasshopper in "public" (I was in my room for this, but it can still stand).

Chilling in my room with some friends, and my suitemate comes over asking to borrow a pen. Without really thinking, she picks up the Grasshopper and turns it on, writes 2 or 3 words and stops. She looks at me, starts giggling with one of her signature "Oh Avery" looks, and I laugh. Then I hand her a pen. :)

@inuhuion, remove the batteries and keep it together. It's chill, I flew across a number of states with the Grasshopper and 2 other vapes in a case that keeps everything separated. It's a tobacco vaporizer, that's all ;)

I've got bad news and good news: My back end popped apart saturday; I filled out a form online and had an address confirmation by monday, a shipping confirmation on wednesday, and my grasshopper was functional again just six days later. The new rear end arrived yesterday, so great service from hopper labs!

Any one here get one of those stainless steel cases along with their hopper? How is it? What are your thoughts? Is it smell proof, is it felt lined inside to protect the hopper from getting scratched? Is the storage chamber ample size?

Thanks

The ss cases are not available yet...they have an "estimated" availability of April at this time.

The original design failed and being the extremely hard and complicated project that a tube of metal and some felt must be...we wait. :)

@Shrike thanks. I did not know the original design had any issues. I was concerned that the hopper may short out if the ss case was not lined with some material. I saw a video on youtube that showed the back portion of the hopper sparking when touched with a piece of wire or paper clip.

@TanukiCoast I was thinking the same thing as far as a cigar tube. I have also been looking into pen holders. Perhaps a double pen holder...one side for the hopper and one side for a stash tube.

Was the back end that broke the old style, with the seam?

Yes the new one looks different, the old one literally popped open:

Does the dial ring rotate 360 degrees? The first warrantied backend did that, and looked less severe.

Edit: Also, in the 3(?) months I've had my replacement body I've noticed minimal scratching on my SS Grasshopper. The backend has nil as do both mouthpieces.

In regard to the discussion about smell before, I've found that the Hopper itself has very little smell, even only a few minutes after being used. However, the silicone mouthpiece does get a scent after a while, and I've found it to be noticeable from a foot or so away.

A small glass mouthpiece would be amazing, something like the ones this ceramic donut uses:

Like putting a silicone piece over mouthpiece and also attach it to the solo stem?
Dr. Vape said that it wont do. because silicone session extender is not holding on Hopper tight enough. he suggested this silicone tube http://vaporfection.com/shop/accessories/medical-grade-hose

and off course, you always can use your both hands. Hopper in one hand, glass piece in other. hold them together- and enjoy!

one more note. i like to use Arizer glass because those straws are long enough to do my beloved reclaim dabs. i'm connecting them to a rig, and torching them up.

Yes I should've been clear. I meant to say you slip the silicone over the grasshoppers mouthpiece and leave enough room to also slip it over the solo stem. The way Dr.Vape attached his other pieces.

I was thinking about something smaller, just a small mouthpiece with an oring or 2 that you can put over the original mouthpiece instead of the silicone or in place of the mouthpieces with an screen inside the glass mouthpiece. Not sure if I expressed myself right, english isn't my main language

I think that would help with the "heating" problem and will be easier to clean too

So far, the only problem I have found with this vaporizer it's the mouthpiece getting unconfortable hot in just 4 draws or less depending on the temp you're using. Appart from that I totally love it!

I like the idea of using something else with a screen in the place of the metal Grasshopper mouthpiece. That could be very interesting.

I've been using these instead of the regular session extender for a while now, and they cool the vapor a little as well as protect your mouth from the hot metal mp.

One on the left is a glass joint from a 'Storm' vaporizer adapter, and the right is a glass MP from a 'dabstorm' concentrate pen and the one I use more often.

Pretty sure all that have shipped since around the first of the year have been the new style.

Yes! Exactly something like that but a bit wider so it can work with just and oring inside. And if it was possible to put a screen inside and just use it instead of the original mouthpiece that would be perfect!
