Yocan Evolve Wax Pen

Awesome, any tips on a good affordable one, maybe not too big?

You can get a tiny 20 or 30w one for under 45 on ebay! Just search 'box mod' and you'll find a variety from reputable ebay sellers. I have a little istick 30w that works well and fits nicely in my palm. The added battery life makes it so I only have to charge once every few days. I've also dialed in my temp with the mod for even better hits.

I like this one: http://www.vapeusa.com/collections/...le-vaporizer-starter-kit-with-isub-glass-tank

This one is $39, free shipping to US.

You need a higher powered mod in my experience to get the best out of the Yocan. I tried it on some other mods that weren't rated for "sub-ohm vaping" and they would warm, but not glow. I also liked the MVP 3.0 pro for its battery life, and very wide range of custom power settings. It is quite large compared to some other mods for sure, but on the plus side you can use it to charge your other batteries or cell phone, with the built in USB charger, lol. I went with the silver model and it looks pretty lowkey. The mod includes an ohm rating meter, and my Yocan reads at between 0.80 and 0.86 depending on temp. So far my best experiences have come from using it on the adjustable watt setting between 7.5 watts for light vaping and 9.5 watts for clouds. Here's a pic of mine.

Just got mine, will report back laterz

Edit: It's laterz, I'm back, I'm reporting.

This feels way better than my expensive Source orb.

Matter of fact, this feels real good. Hits really hard, can load a big ball of concentrate, small, cheap descrete.

Don't hold the button down for too long. It hits hard when I'm barely tapping the button.

If this holda up under use we have a stayer.

Since we like the coils in these to glow red hot (especially when cleaning), Titanium would not be safe to use (unless it was only used on a temperature controlled device.) At high temperatures, Titanium oxidizes and creates titanium dioxide which is very, very bad to inhale.

If you take a brand new piece of titanium wire, superheat it and let it cool, you'll notice that the wire has a white buildup on it. That's titanium dioxide, and they make white paint with it. One e-juice manufacturer used it to make their e-juice bright white, then ended up getting sued when people discovered it's terrible for peoples' lungs.

In my opinion, we should be asking Yocan to use SS (Stainless Steel) 316L. This is a very popular wire for temperature control, with a very clean taste and the added advantage of being much safer at high temperatures.
Hi TokerOnwheels,we tested SS 316L coils based on your suggestion, but the result is not good, should you please tell us more details?please check the test report:
1.The resistance is too low to caused most batteries and MODs can not work with it.
2.The temperature is too high, so the wax burn too fast and easy got burnt taste.

Man, it's great when manufacturers listen to their user-base and communicate this way
It's especially encouraging that you are using FC for inspiration to develop your products.
Thanks for caring Yocan, I salute you!

Stainless steel temperature control does exist elsewhere, so it must be possible (fair warning here though, the depths of my ignorance in this matter should not be underestimated)

can anyone share an easy way to get a dab into the chamber without mess, I have tried normal and silicone tools but the wax just sticks to it when I try to frop it on the coil. Can you use medical gloves to break it up and roll into balls to drop down in the chamber? or does anyone have any other easy ways they can share?

when your stuff is sticky, just grab an ice cube.

with you material on your parchment, rub the ice cube over the parchment for a quick second. open your parchment back up and you should be able to handle it with your hands. roll it into a quick ball, and drop 'er right onto your coils. start with a bb or two, and go from there.

As an old habit from my dt 2.5 days, i will sometimes just make little pancakes and drop them in as well.

@ChrisCT did you already buy an evolve? If not, I would suggest looking at the NYX, since you already have the subohm battery to run it on. Same dual Quartz coil, but a deeper well. New carb concept, delivers big rips. I am using both, but have found myself using the NYX most frequently, with my istick 40w tc at 15w.

I have 4 Evolve batteries. So far 3 have detached with regular use (2 when threading on the atomizer and the other in a pocket). After examine the units, it appears the factory adhesion was either lacking, insufficient or did not cure properly. No problem to remedy with some 3M metal glue and a clamp.

Mine detached like above and black wire came off.
Not even a month :disgust:

What have you guys been doing with them? I have a buddy that has had his in his snowboard pants since early January... He rides (and wrecks hard) everyday and his is still mint... I baby mine a lot, so I know I'm not about to break it.

Normal use. 2 of mine just literally came off gently unscrewing the atomizer. I have other 510 ego batteries with more time/use that are still intact. @Yocantech

Its been a couple days since my repair. That 3M metal glue seems to be very strong. Time will tell...

Same here, had to solder the wire back on the pcb.

Yes. After the battery came apart and the black wire detached from stress. I soldered it back on and glued the battery back together.

Mine's been working very well. As expected I'm on the second coil, rosin is only so forgiving to coils. I've been feathering the button and melting it in, then using it with glass. Almost a little too easy to get huge clouds.

@Yocantech if you're looking at stainless steel coils you're going to have to use a temperature control mod for that. Using stainless steel on this type of setup is not going to work out very well as you can see.

my only complaint is the threads are pretty rough and especially once you get a small coat of residue it makes the top of the coil really difficult to screw on and off, other than that I love mine
