Actually the soot can be avoided if you hold the vapcap over the flame. The soot comes from touching the metal against the flame. I've done it successfully several times. No paraffin wax taste either. It's pretty cool. @horst What you are seeking is totally possible.
Awesome. How long does it usually take to heat up this way compared to a torch?

It takes quite a bit a longer. Maybe something like 20+ seconds, probably not more than 30 seconds on the first cycle. The second cycle is maybe 10 + seconds. Depends also if you are comparing to a single, double, or triple torch. If you aren't in a rush it's fine. Also considering the Vapcap extracts pretty quickly. I go through 4-6 cycles per bowl.

@horst it may take some time to reach the click temp with a candle and any soot will be annoying. Also paraffin wax taste may be detectable.
Sorry not trying to burst the chilled setting bubble. The torch does detract from it so I fully understand where you are coming from. I've been looking for some other form of heating that is hot and clean but a little more chilled. I've found these but I think again soot, smell and taste may be present if they are not very efficient. The RHS one should be a cleaner burn. Okay for a low light level so you could see it was lit. Would be careful if in sunlight or levels where the flame was not clearly visible.

I wish there were quieter torches. The torch sound attracts attention and looks like your smoking crack. One reason why I went with the woodie over the glass model.

The torch issue goes beyond the VapCap. This is an issue for most butane vape devices.

Hey guys, someone asked a few days ago but I have been having a few account issues (new email and lost old password, in the process of fixing it now)
I did drill a hole in one cap, result... Not good. Draw resistance is less, but cloud size doesn't really increase over normal open carb and it seems to burn easier. although some of the newer caps look exciting!
I'm going to hold off until it's more perfected for a better draw, and then get a Ti, although if I broke my glass OG today I'd replace it within a week! Still loving my vapcap.

You all know George is BUSTING HIS ASS with all sorts of next-level mods and accessories for the VC, but just wanted to note as well that his support is also TOP OF CLASS. I've been in touch with him via PM since I broke my glass on the garage floor and I am getting all tee'd up with a couple of spare bodies.

Getting a parts order for some redundancy/back up with 2 more fluted stems and an Ed's Fatty
The TiGlassy is a badass machine, the SS condenser tube will survive any drop and the glass should fare okay for any drop on carpet.

Thanks George- You are doing big things and I wish you much more success!

I read it hear a while back, but can anyone confirm that the draw resistance of a newer wood/ti is less with a closed carb than an OG glass closed carb. Really loving mine still, swap between the VM and VC regularly as my daily driver, although for times like now when watching some workaholics with the head phones in, the vapcap is a no go.

The draw resistance is less wiith the ti woody than with the OG glass models. Still alot though. You can do a slow draw with carb closed with the woody much more than the glass, but you are still better off to feather it or cigar puff rather than a long direct draw like you would with the Vapman or most other vapes.

I can hear the click with headphones on (with music at low to moderate levels) if that is what you mean.

Like @bounce5 wrote, i can confirm no soot at all if you hold it above the flame and don't let it touch. It just takes longer to heat if further away, but just adds to the slow relaxing session with a candle.

Volute of Vapor
The last week i recieved a Vaponic, this vape works in a very similar way than the Vapcap does (without the clic and it's all glass). I prefer how the vaponic taste but I think it needs more time to vape the load, it's not the one-hitter the Vapcap is. Airflow is better and heat retention also but there is a small learning curve.

I still not tried the Vaponic with concentrates but I think the Vapcap is better suited for this option.

They are very similar but there is a gap in the vaponic between the cap (called the external tube for the vaponic) and the bowl...imho this is explain why the vaponic taste better. The first hit (even after reheating) is always thinner and you get bigger clouds for the 2nd or 3rd hit cause when you draw air is heated while moving in this gap before to reach the load...so there is definitly some convection.

This explain also why the vapcap is better suited for concentrates (more conduction/radiation).

It's a completly personnal opinion and i don't want to bash the vapCap at all, although I think the vaponic is better suited for my vaping style. Be sure I'll continue to use my vapcap, Kief sandwiched load, Orbiter connected= a free ticket to the Stone valley!

awesome, thx @phattpiggie, @bounce5 & @Vapenvy for elaborating the candle handling.

the slower heat up is welcome, I got no need for fast heat up in the use cases I see myself using this vape. Just like vapenvy states it is more of a benefit then a downside. Perfectly see myself already in this time of the year, in front of a stove with a can of black tea on top of it, filling the steeping time with slowly preparing and heating up the woody. With a little practice I am sure it's possible to finish a bowl just in time with a cup of tea.

Guess I would rarely use a torch-lighter cause I don't like the noise they make, for instant relief the MFLB is perfect and for power hits I got the Hammer & Crafty at hand. Stretching out a little nug consumption seems perfect with the vapcap in an organic way others cannot provide.

And it seems to be the perfect backup device, too! Horror-Scenario where a power outage renders my Crafty useless, the MFLB batteries have discharged themselves over the time and the butane can just went empty are easly covered with just a candle and a vapcap. When also a candle is missing I guess I will have more urgent problems to be solved then getting high. :D

Agree in most of the description but opposite in suitability to vape style. Also, I find vapcap allows for smoother mouthfull of vapor, that it is why it fits me. IME vaponic as being quite convective doesent works at best in gently puffing, you have to inhale slowly and steady, all you inhale pass through the heater so it is dry and hot, and I feel it in my lungs, not pain but "dryiness". Vapcap as vapman has fresh "moist" air that mix with hot vapor chilling it down, and it allows me to have a lung friendly session (at worst is my throat getting irritated from abuse, not lungs).
That is why even if vaponic is my second buy (backup for my solo) maybe in a month I used vapcap more than vaponic since may 2014.

I use vaponic more as a very tasty toy when VC is a driver for me.

I am lucky enough to have an og Vapcap with a bit more gap between cap and glass and it is ideal to draw with a closed carb and with short mouth puffs, swallowing the vapor between them, like with a cigar! Since the only air that comes in is through the hot cap there is a lot more convection in play and the hits are night and day compared to an open carb. Much more vapor, more taste until the end of the bowl. The only vaporizer that I used like that was the PAX and the Vapcap gives even thicker and tastier hits with a fraction of the load. Three heat cycles do it for me heating the cap in the middle for very high temp hits! I hope the Ti can come close to what this puppy can do due to its higher airflow. My other two Vapcaps can't really do it...

Dugout is essential, i lost mine knocking it off my magnet onto the garage floor. It would have been fine if ít was inside the box

I just drunkenly dropped mine
Its still usable which is funny
The plastic mp just cant be removed or it will definitely fall apart.
Im not using it though, due to safety reasons.
Probably will just order a Ti Glass.

My woodie hasn't even arrived yet. A little help on this closed/open carb thing. What is the prevailing method in terms of manipulating the carb when drawing?

What the hell do I do again? I feel like an old man with a iphone. :myday:

Do what works best for you. The best part of new vapes is experimenting to find YOUR best way to use it.

I use mine like a bowl. I cover the carb to build up vapor, uncover the carb to clear it. Nothing fancy for me.

My understanding (and I'll get to try it tomorrow!) is that a slower inhale gives more vapor, like with just about any vape. Some people find that closing the "carb" forces them to inhale more slowly, but this circumvents the way the VC was designed. Others find it's not necessary, and get great results from just "sipping" or taking a slower breath.

It seems to vary from person to person, and each handcrafted piece has its own characteristics. Experiment and have fun. :science:

I received my OG VapCap today but as I pulled it out from the green case I saw a crack in between the 3 flute holes on the glass body! Very disappointing as I've been dying to try it :( but I'm sure George will take care of me.

Edit: Got to try it a few times before it fully cracked on me and was definitely impressed. So much so that I removed the condenser, slid the cap over the cracked body and continued to use it for the sake of experimenting! :science: George also got back to me and will have a replacement sent out asap.

Damn you, party liquor
Got my vapcap today. Initially inspection looked good. Did 3 heat up cycles with no material per the instructions. Glass looked good afterwards. Popped a tiny nug in and did two heat cycles blowing some nice tasty. Took the top off to inspect the load after the cool down and the entire ground part of the glass is cracked. I messaged George already. Sucks to wait all this time and then this happens.

I like the concept but I do not think the glass is thick enough. It just feels a little too fragile. And then they grind on it to help keep the cap in place and I believe that contributes stress to the glass.
I do believe I will like the vape after I get to use it more than two hits so I may see a ti in my future once I get the hang of this one.

Edit: Holy shit! George literally responded in two minutes. I sent a pic and he is going to get a replacement right out.
Outstanding CS!!!

Yes, my friends. This thing is worth the wait.

Halfway through my first load, I already know I'm upgrading to a Woody plus a Dynastash once my piggy bank gets a little fuller. The ground glass tip is a nice new touch. I'm also liking the two holes in the outer stem--one is a little larger than the other, so I have a nice little range of airflow to play with.

I really really love this thing. George, way to go, man. This little guy is effin' brilliant. Smart design, fun to use, super efficient. I think you found your calling--may this venture bring you much joy and success.

Oh, and just in case some of you haven't seen the new wood varieties I added to the DynaStash Lineup

Here is a picture.

Screen%20Shot%202016-02-15%20at%2012.17.10%20PM_zpsngk8zuv4.png

The picture doesn't show how awesome these really are.

And I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has one of these regarding whether they like my little magnet stand built into the stash for, well all DynaVap Vaps. It also will hold your stash under the metal pencil drawer on most desks and under toolbox lids too.

Cheers,

George

I don't have a Dynastash yet, but the magnet seems like a brilliant touch. I'm using a similar magnet on my stainless steel desktop, and it's perfect for keeping the VC safely in place. It also helps quickly cool down the cap. Were you considering getting rid of it?
