Essentially with all the new batteries nowadays, the standard is to intentionally "overcharge" on the first and only charge, at least 6 hours after the unit shows full.
After the first charge, general rule is to charge up to nearly full and unplug before it's fully charged.

And try not to let it fully discharge (battery completely dead)

This all seems like a PITA at first, but becomes second nature after a while, and will save you a few bucks.

This may be one of the very very few "pen Vapes " I might actually like???!

I just had a garage sale, in which I filled a cigar box full of Vape pens and accessories... Easily over 500$ in pens (most gifted , had a friend getting free gear) sold the entire contents for 5$

I kept my cigar box though

Storm feels pretty solid, I think the dimensions are very good.

What I do not quite understand is why there are two ways to regulate the temperature.
Holding the button (more than 4 seconds) feels best, rather than pressing the button all the time to set the temperature.

Is there a quality difference in the charging circuit of the Storm and other chargers?
Is it better for the battery (and in the future, the extra batteries) to charge with an external 18650 charger?

And there is one thing missing in the manual: the red LED flashes when the Storm is turned off.

@smokemirror from my experience with the storm is the triple tap is the on and off action. The press and hold is the temperature change.

As far as charging I will leave that the knowledgeable for I am quite ignorant on the subject. I definitely would like to know the answer though.

There should only be one way to change temp on your storm...but there have been two versions, the earlier storms the temp is changed with multi press and the newer ones you hold the button.

There are a few advantages to using an external charger (but charging in the storm is also fine)...

Better ventilation to deal with heat, micro USB ports can become loose/stop working if mistreated, ability to charge more than one cell and at different speeds (some chargers) depending on needs, if the cell/wrapper becomes damaged and vents I would rather (if needed) replace a cheap (compared to the storm) charger than my storm.

This morning something strange happened.
I pressed the button three times, Storm turns on (blinking red, green and white LEDs).
Then I held the button. Instead I could control the temperature, the red light blinked (as if I pressed it three times) and the storm went out.
Tried it a couple of times and finnaly it worked as it should.
Strange glitch, any idea?

The old version is 5 clicks to turn on/off and 3 clicks to change temp, I don't have the new version but from your post it seems it does have two ways of changing temp, same process but I guess one way is for bumping it up one temp setting and the other if your going up a few.

The red lights flashing and turning off would normally be a low battery signal, if you battery was full or at least not low then I would check the connections are clean as a first thought (the positive (small pin on the heating section) and both positive and negative ends of the battery, if you were outside or in a cold temp when trying to turn it on this may also have an effect, or it could have been as you say just a random glitch, sometimes just removing the battery for a few minutes and trying again will fix.

Sometimes I get the red blinking light when i try to switch it while still hot from the previous session. I wait a bit then it gets back to normal.

Okay, the shutingdown is probably caused by a security if the battery is too cold or too hot (is not mentioned anywhere in the manual).

I am curious why the Samsung 25R is not recommended.
I understand that this battery is very stable.

The 25R is perfectly fine, the trick is to get genuine ones when the market is flooded with chinese fakes.

It's just so useful, much better than a toothpick. I had a similar tool with the Pinnacle Pro but it was made of plastic and snapped :/

@jjl5590 try looking for earwax spoons. Thanks @pakalolo never knew anything about them until you mentioned it. Got 3 for less than £2. 9cm long.

Great for herbs, keeps the chamber clean!

I recently purchased a storm vape and was wondering if somebody could clarify something for me?

When starting up the pen I initially see some vapour coming from the vents on the upper section. Now I saw a previous post on page 2 where somebody mentioned vapour emitting from the USB port and led section when he blew into the mouth piece and this was obviously confirmed as faulty. I have no vapour coming from these sections, but the vapour is appearing from the vent without any air passing down the chamber by say way of blowing. Again, I only see this on the initial heat up.

Is this normal with most portables to vent vapour from the vents on startup or do I have a faulty unit?

To answer your question: it depends... what does it smell?

Did you perform your initial empty burn-ins? Did you clean everything with Q-tip+ISO after unboxing the unit? Can you see a brown to yellowish tape-like material through the venting holes of the upper part?

If your chamber is filled and it smells like sweet terpenes, yeah it's normal, it's the water and most volatile molecules going out of your product.
If the vape is empty, yes that's weird and you should check what KeroZen says.

KeroZen, i did indeed perform the initial burn-ins, but i did not clean. The smell wasn't bad in any way as it was simply the smell of the materials i had loaded the device up with. Nothing is visable in the vents. Mirimi mentions this is normal and to be honest i haven't noticed it happen again since i initially posted, so i'm leaning towards everything being okay.

I've been using the unit for a week now and i'm very happy considering the price. The weight took me by surprise at first because i was expecting something a lot lighter. This to me is a good thing as it feels very durable in the hand. I'm not prone to dropping things, but having owned iolites in the past i do find this storm comforting with it's metal casing and i know dropping it on the kitchen floor won't result in a scattering of parts. I haven't tried a lot of portable vapes so i can really only compare this to the iolites i have and the single thing that sticks out to me the most is how quickly the storm 'does the job'. Like others have said the taste is obviously more tasty at the lower temps, but ramping it up will deliver those cloudy lung fulls and that wispy throat feeling some people look for. I also purchased the mini bubbler, which works well, although it will need regular (Weekly) cleaning. I tried the rubber mp for the first time today and found it to work pretty well, so i'll most likely fill the bubbler with some type of cleaning fluid and let it sit over night. I've had good results from packing the chamber 3/4 full and also good results from smaller amounts.

The unit does get hot, but it's managable even without the sleeve. I can't comment on the wax chamber, which is a shame

All in all i'm pleased with the device and will recommend

I just got the bubbler MP which quite frankly enhances the vaping experience. Anybody considering it should most def buy it.

While your sessions do become more efficient there is some gooey build-up already after around 10 sessions. Any tips on cleaning the MP? Just soaking in ISO?

I just fold a piece of paper tissue, roll it up and kind of twist it into my glass mouth piece (ordinary glass mouthpiece, not the bubbler one). I do it every second or third session to keep the rather foul smell of cold vapor away.

When I change the screen after approx 20 session I wash the mouthpiece with soap and water. Keeps it nice and clean.

Well I popped down to the hardware store and got some ISO (it was disguised as gasoline anti-freeze ) and just finished cleaning. I soaked all the bits and bobs in ISO for about 5 minutes and after rinsing with water the bubbler MP looks brand spanking new. I can't emphasize enough how great of an addition it is!

After 8 month and 400+ sessions I changed the bottom screen for the first time yesterday. Airflow didn’t really seem affected by the build up under the screen, but when I draw forcefully with an empty oven I got dust and small particles in my mouth, so it was time to do something.

A post in the Xmax thread suggested to use a strong needle for the job. First needle broke and I found a little more sturdy tool in my wife's sewing stuff. A little pushing, nudging and tweaking loosened up the screen, and once loose it was easy to pull out.



The bottom screen was heavily clogged with some very solid residue, but only between the 5 air intake holes. I tried to scrape it off, but it felt like it was partly carbonized, and with 6 extra bottom screens I just ditched it.



The oven was strongly discolored in beautiful spacey brownish colors and never ISO washed before. Under the bottom screen the metal plate was partly covered by dark dust.



The bottom metal plate was easily cleaned by an ISO sweep with a cotton swab, but the ISO cleaning only resolved a very thin layer of gunk off the oven surface, and didn't change the discoloration of the ceramics. The scratch is from pushing the new screen in place.

One of the thing I love most about the Storm is the quick and easy maintenance.
