Bad Neighbor Stories...

That all depends on where you live tho... Here it wouldn't be too surprising if someone was burning brush a bit too close to the parcel in question... Or just hook up and drag the trailers down the road and drop them off on public land...

We may be forced to do something unethical than to be out thousands of dollars. The $2500 quote was just the starting fee. It could end up being way more than that. Later we are walking over there and I'm taking pictures and looking for license plates and take pictures of that. I doubt that he can even prove the dumpy campers are his? My husband isn't home right now and I'm not going over there alone.

This guy is desperate. On Monday the new owners take over possition of his home that was foreclosed upon. He didn't pay his house payment for 2+ years. He didn't pay his property taxes either. He is perfectly healthy and fully able to work. I don't know if mentally he's all there at this point. There maybe alcoholism. He is basically almost in his former yard, just side of his driveway which is on our land. There is a large acre of trees that buffer us.

We may decide to have the camper and garbage towed away. We can talk to a lawyer to make sure we go about it the right way for a minimal fee. The new people moving in want all this gone too. They have small children. They don't want a homeless encampment outside their home. They were able to get the house and land fairly cheap because of the foreclosure and the previous owner had gutted the house.

We have even talked about writing up a letter and paying him money to leave. Like a thousand dollars and say if he's not gone in 48 hours the deal is off. He would have to remove his stuff then we would give him cash. We've just been talking about how we will proceed.

Thanks for all the great ideas. The horse shit was a good idea. I can put horse shit on my land if I want to. I just don't want to do anything to bother the other neighbors.

So my old pro rodeo hall of fame neighbor dropped by and said 'someone's been complaining about that big pile of manure'. He piles it all up in fall, leaves it over winter, and sells it as composted manure in spring. My suggestion was to take a bunch of grass seed, toss it on the pile, and call it a hill. And when he sells it in spring he's just loading parts of his hill.

Anyways, no more complaints, and it did look a lot nicer :)

Update on bad neighbor.
I can't believe my last post about this was November. Well he finally packed up the rest of his garbage/stuff last weekend. I swear this guy is a hoarder. He took all of his stuff over to a friends house where he is living now. Good riddance.

He actually did a fairly good job of cleaning up, he even raked. Maybe in the end he realized that what he was doing was wrong. We had been neighbors and friends for 25 years. He allowed his home and life to go down the toilet. Being in your late 40s with no job and no home. Somethings going on with him like drugs or mental illness. 20 years ago he had a nice home and a good job, a girl friend. Now he has nothing. It's sad, I'm no longer angry with him, I pity him.

Never let anyone temporarily live on your land unless you want them to stay indefineatly. You have very few rights in some areas of the U.S to get them off.

@CarolKing - Great news! I was just thinking about your story last week when a friend told me he was going through eviction proceedings for a house he had been renting out. He really felt bad about it because he felt they were good people who fell on hard times. I was going to ask you how things were going but I didn't want to bring it up in case it was a sore point.

If it's not being too nosy....What finally caused him to leave?

My husband kept telling him he needed to go and that we would do whatever possible to get him off. We would use legal action if necessary. The person that bought his house had a friend that was a sheriff and he also visited him and had a talk with him. The new neighbor built a gate. Our ex neighbor couldn't use the drive way. We had an acre of trees behind him and no driveway access from our property. We had told him that he would be land locked because the new owner built a fence too. The no drive way access is what did it.

Without our new neighbor building a fence and putting up a gate we probably would have had to get legal help and it would have cost us a lot of money.

Update to my bad neighbor story, I ended up picking up about 200+ beer cans from the woods and put them in the wheelbarrow and then dumped them in my neighbor's driveway entrance. He knows it was me as he no longer waves to me.

I have not seen a fresh beer can down my road for about 9 months now.

Since you were nice enough to gather them for your neighbor he should have taken them to the scrap yard. He could have gotten enough for 2 six packs. One for you and one for him. If he did turn them in and didn't share....this is the right thread :lmao:

I am pretty sure he just drove over them and pushed them into the ground when it was wet out with his car tires. His driveway is all dirt/mud. ;)

I'm ever so glad we are the last house on the end of a dead end road. With the slightly elevated position I have great arcs of fire. Next up is a toll booth, so we can make money from all the people that drive up the road only to discover the 'dead end' sign is actually correct ;)

I live in a country setting where folks live on a couple of acres. Our neighbor was foreclosed upon and my husband thought he was being nice and allowing our neighbor to stay on our property for a little while in his camper. wE have known him for 20 years. Months ago we asked him to leave and he has refused. He also has all his things all over our land. It has turned into a nightmare because he has other people living out of another camper now.

We have contacted the sheriffs dept and they say we have to get an eviction notice through the county. That means taking time off from work because they only do that at certain times of the day. Fuck being nice. We have a company's name where you pay them $65 and they are suppose to do everything and get the squatters off your land.

Don't ever let anyone stay on your property temporarily because now since we gave him permission they are tenants. Sometimes things just aren't fair in life.:bang:

I think it's time for some Blackberry Kush.
wow this is so fucked up. What an asshole

Bad neighbour story - this is from the early 80s, when I was in the Army, 6'15" and bulletproof. We did a lot of physical activity and training, as you are likely aware. We started finding new things for PT, and wound up doing a bunch of repelling, making our own 'swiss seats' out of ropes and caribiners. Climb to the top of 40ish foot ladder, hook your swiss seat to an attached rope, and jump off a simulated helicopter skid and drop to the ground. Easy peasy.

So one weekend a few of us are at my downtown apartment, drinking and listening to tunes way too loud. One of the guys finds some gunline on a roll and starts fiddling with it. Gunline is a multi-strand nylon line, with a nylon coating around the outside. It's quite strong, and not that large diameter.

Anyways, the short story is we wound up making swiss seats and repelling down from the 4th floor balcony, until the police showed up and told us to stop. Most of the neighbors got a giggle out of it, except for the ones who were terrified of all the human shadows they saw sliding around outside their balcony.

So only a couple of neighbors thought we were bad... ;)
