How does the Vapcap make its click sound when it is ready? :)

There are two general schemes to do this, based on expansion with heat. One uses a disk of 'bimetal', two different metals with two different expansion rates bonded together so they must bend with heat. This is the way most home thermostats work, as well as the mechanical thermometers like you find in the yard with the big dials, a coil of such metal 'winds and unwinds' with temperature. To make a clicker the metal disk is distorted when cold so as it heats stress builds and 'snaps in over center' like a child's 'cricket' toy.

The other scheme also uses a pre stressed disk, but constrained by a rim of some sort which can't expand as fast and again makes the disk (a diaphragm, really) 'pop out'. This uses a single metal usually. I suspect we're seeing an example of this type. The tooling making the cap controls this action?

because "Samantha" is a mouthful.
This might be a completely ridiculous question, but I'm writing it anyway.

Has anyone used both the VapCap and the E-Nano? Can you compare the experience?

They are very differents devices, and since I got my VC I'm using mainly VC and Nano actually.

Nano tastes way better for me, as I prefer grassy convective taste.
VC is very fast, complete extraction but taste is conduction/radiation, so less grassy after first hit
On the other side I find VC smoother than Enano even if i have to say I hit like puffing my VC and rip with huge hits my nano (convective devices need you to pull air in order to work)

Both can be ready on demand (if you left nano on)

There is way more cleaning with VC if you want to keep it relatively clean

You can buy around 6VC for the price of a Nano

Both Andy et George give wonderful customers service

Anyone knows if I can use the turbulated condenser in my Ti Glassy instead of the SS?

If it works I'm gonna buy it right now, I would love an all glass and Ti Vapcap :science:

Not too sure if it would fit, I don't have the glass sleeve for the glassy, but I would say that the SS condenser works a lot better and keeps the glass sleeve a lot cleaner. Although I have not tried the turbulated one yet.

I found that my condenser in the OG would get so gunked up down the glass body it would restrict the draw significantly. It wouldn't take me too long to get it that way either. :2c:

They are really each their own kind of vape.

With the nano you get the full flavour spectrum and can temp step with the dial, accurately. With the Vapcap I find it a lot like a joint high but better because your not comubsting what so ever. You sure do extract every last bit though while at the same time enjoying plenty of flavour in the first two heat cycles. It's comparable to a 7.5 on the nano.

If it says anything I've been using my ti/woodie a lot more than my nano lately. Nothing beats convenience, and there isn't anything really more convenient than the vapcap

I find the Vapcap to be one of my tastiest vapes! I never heat up past the click, so the first "cycle" is always dedicated flavor town for me! It tastes good the rest of the time too, but the start of it is always nice, it's not a 1-1 comparison but my logs give me an awesome flavor punch, but I'm not temp stepping (my log stem is cleared in a hit). It's definitely not as tasty as the Vapcaps first cycle!

I have tried to test temps of heat cycles with an ir thermometer, the cap clicks around 400°F, but the material inside seems to heat up in the following ways:

1st cycle around 325°F

2nd cycle around 360°F

3rd cycle around 380°F

4th cycle gets approximately 400-420°F(risking minor combustion and harsh taste)

Note: the temp drops rapidly however, after reaching these peaks. I wouldn't recommend touching the flame tip to the cap or going to heat cycle 4.

Vapcap noob here...

How do you guys vape with your Vapcap? Do you draw for 10 secs then keep inhaling?

I noticed that I don't get as high when I vape compared to smoking, or at least not as long, so I think I'm doing the technique wrong.

Also, what lighter do you prefer to use? I used the lighter George gives out, but it broke after 4-5 sessions; I've been using a bic lighter ever since.

I'm still playing with the vapcap and it's been a pleasure to do so for many weeks, I'm attempting to get a full bowl totally cooked in a single go, so far I'm doing this in two cycles with a second of overheating on both cycles. There's so many variables to change to get what you want (I like this fact).

I heat using the triple torch with the tip of the flames around cm above this I hold the cap and concentrate on heating the around the meeting point of the cap and glass where the digger is, I feel this gives it plenty of time to heat up and contain that heat, then move up closer to the other end, twisting all the time trying to get a even cook.

Do find the taste amazing to be honest, not quite the standard of the lotus but with much less faff and with the feedback given by that "click".

I've been having good luck with the Soto Pocket Torch , available at your local sporting goods store or (of course) Amazon . It's a convenient size , and all you have to do is insert a Scripto disposable lighter in it .

@ohjameson I use the three flame torch George sent out. I also have the one @OF suggested coming.
I've tried various ways of using my VC. I can run the heat cycle to the click then take a long slow inhale until the cool down click. For me this can take some doing and the last heat cycles click can't come soon enough. Or I heat to the click and inhale as if it were a joint. Usually a couple of draws before the cool down.
I am always well medicated by the end of any bowl even when I am using my 'test' material. The chaff that collects at the bottom of a bag/jar. Leaves, bits of stalk, single calyces, had to look that word up, and kief.

I am with OF and @IAmKrazy2 on the 'click' it's all to do with expansion. I liken it to a hot engine when cooling down. They tick.
My cap seems to squeal as well sometimes. @VapCap the only other way I can describe it is like a high pitch short ricochet sound.

@anasrzi I have heated to the click and not inhaled then when the cool down click comes I heat again to the click and then inhale. It will take some doing to get a bowl finished in one go. Of course I am more than happy to keep trying until I get it.
I have also run a 6 click bowl just heating the disc end. The flavors are great and last for at least 3-4 clicks.

As said earlier the VC is well paired with kief/scuff. The ever lasting bowl. It just keeps coming.

I must add my Blackwood is a custom build so my results will differ from the results others may be getting. The only parts in common are the Ti tip and the SS cap. My 'carb' hole is also different. My short video shows at no point did I have to feather.
I don't think George was quite expecting me to fully embrace the invite to the VapCap Development Club back in December.:)

Other stuff in the works and I am willing to try out any ideas anyone has. PM me if you have a VC itch you need scratching. I am also toying with the idea of getting a 'business' account so as for now nothing I build is for sale it's all just for 'shits and giggles' or as @VegNVape put it Vapcappery.

Good morning, just waking up and stirring, bout to head out to the shop, do some custom stuff and the second run of Vapcap woodies woot woot! Gotta say the cocobolo I have chopped up is really popping with flavor, if you all could just see what I see, when the wood is in square form I can kinda get an idea then when I am turning and it's true shape takes place colors turn out maybe a eye even how cool it is! Even spoke with George some on the phone and got with one of my guys to see about this or that, really excited am sure George will tell you what that is soon enough!

@Archaicrevival hmmm I thank you for thinking of me and don't see why not, what a cool idea, let's talk more about it and go from there. Thanks again!

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Just ordered a woody today. Can't wait to give it a go. The woodies look real nice and this whole concept seems quite cool and convenient. This will be one for the road and when I need a "quickie" at home. The possibilities seems endless.

Any tips for getting the woodie stem on a 18mm waterpipe?

I cleaned my Vapcap with a Q-Tip and Iso. Covered it in some reclaim. Is it ok to vape the cotton from a Q-tip? I have a feeling probably not since it's not organic and probably has residual chemicals in it.

I personally wouldn't risk it or bother but i throw away my degummed hemp too. I have heard of others doing it but i forget in what vape. The herbie maybe?
