Arizer Extreme Q vs Arizer Air

I am fairly new to vaping. My first purchase was an Arizer Extreme Q and I absolutely love it. After I purchased that one I decided I needed a portable. I didn't want to shell out the money for a Mighty or Crafty and I heard great things about the Air so I bought one. It produces great vapor and also a lot of vapor however it does not give me the same level of buzz that my Q does. Could anyone explain why this is?

Dr. Hunter S. Punisher,
Every time I launch my EQ I'm amazed at how much herb I go through. The bowl is much larger, and the heater is much bigger, so you are likely getting a lot more meds in a shorter period of time. :2c:
I actually weigh out my doses so I am still using the same amount. It just seems that my Extreme Q just might vape it more thoroughly. When I get done with my Q the leftovers look darkish brown whereas when I get done with the Air it is more of a light brown.

There was a posting recently that reflected exactly that. It compared a few vaporizers and how each extracted with different efficiency.

One of the reasons a modded vape can extract more completely than a stock unit.

I own both & the EQ destroys the Air in every way, shape & form when used as unintended. I can rip .1g in a single hit at 230c in my EQ whereas even with a GonG it would take 3-4 hits to use in the Air. It is just much more efficient to extract actives.

They both serve very different purposes for me & as I type this I am thinking I should have stuck with the Air this morning as I have shit to do but I need a nap as well.

I don't vape that high although I do vape on the high side. I read on H.T. magazines site that the experiments they did said that 220c was where u got the most. However it almost had combustion at that temp I think. So I usually do 3 bags per bowl starting at 195 then 205 then 215. That seems to work the best for me.

I don't have the EQ but I have the Air and the Solo. Most of the time during the day I don't want to get completely wrecked I have things to do. I save a water tool or my j hook and higher temperatures that I use at night with my Enano and a hard hitting Indica

A desk top most of the time isn't meant for big huge lung busting hits. The AA can do that but I assume not like the EQ.

Maybe I will buy the EQ some day.

Whatever works best for you will be best. Both work well with low temp direct draw. The way I have my EQ setup for DD is far better & rules the Air out of the race yet I use the Air 100 x more for DD. This is mostly because if I have the EQ setup it is running water. The Air is also a strong performer in that area but in a consumption reduction style. The EQ is a weed eater no two ways about it but that is partly the efficiency when set up/modified correctly & the tendency I have for overindulgence marries up well with the EQ.

That is the exact reason I use the Air CK. It tends to be like a real life Snickers & satisfies without overindulgence.

You could buy a GonG and use a bubbler with the AA. Another addition would be a J hook. I like using the Vortex stem that I bought for my Solo it's a longer stem and I can use the higher temps. I can buy the Vortex stem from Planetvape.

But I like it!
A buddy got an air as his first portable and loves it. The issue is he keeps breaking stems, and without a stem it's useless. Get spares! Maybe a wooden one from Eds T&T. Nothing worse than having a charged vape and no stem!

I've bought several of the PVHE stems for my Solo and have used them with my Air. They have added air flow and works well with both units. If you have too tight of a draw with the stock stems the PVHE stem from Planetvape might help you enjoy your vaporizer more.

They are a popular item. I haven't checked lately but often they are out of stock of some stems.

I have bought both EQ (a model before the midnight chrome look) and Solo (the newest model). I don't have the EQ anymore because I've given it to a friend, but I had a lot of experience with it, so I think I can still make a nice comparison. I don't have an Air, but it should work exactly the same way as Solo, so the comparison should apply to it as well.

EQ pros compared to Solo/Air:
-little draw resistance
-can make bags (counterpoint - it fills them horribly slowly, so it may not even be worth it)
-better temperature control and retention.
-GonG joints make perfect connections everytime
-can be very good at vaping large ammounts
-easy to mod in various ways

EQ cons compared to Solo/Air:
-bad at vaping small ammounts in the Solo range unless you mod it.
-needs a lot of stirring

Solo/Air pros compared to EQ:
-small, portable and battery powered with a good battery life enough for 6 - 12 bowls. (Probably half of that for Air)
-doesn't need stirring
-less parts
-easier cleaning
-simplier usage
-good at vaping smaller bowls for one person

Solo/Air cons compared to EQ:
-moderate draw resistance, but not too bad with newer models. Without it, the low heat retention of this vape couldn't keep up with you.
-can't load a huge bowl like a cyclone bowl on EQ, but reloading is easy, imo being bad at small ammounts is worse.
-becuase of non-GonG connection, some stems don't fit well or don't fit at all. That can be bummer if you don't have a single one that fits well.

I see the Solo as a better (personal) vaporizer overall than EQ. It may not look that way, but most of the Solo cons and EQ pros don't matter that much (at least for me). What I dislike most about EQ is the cyclone bowl that is imo just badly designed for lesser ammounts and need a lot of stirring. Also the assembled EQ is somewhat clumsy.

The Air should be just like Solo, just smaller, lighter, removable battery and half of battery life (because there are two batteries in the Solo, but irreplaceable)

That sounds like you are vaping at lower temperature on your Air then you are accustomed to.
Are you vaping at maximum temperature on your Air? If not, you can turn it up and it should get closer to the EQ.
i think that's the cause, because as I said, the Air should perform better on small ammounts than EQ.

Has anyone had good experiences with planet vapes high airflow stems they have for the Air?
The classic PV stems are not bad, but i don't recommend the turbo ones.
The classics have 4 holes as a screen just like the classic Airzer ones.
The turbo one is just narrowed there and a screen is put there.
Not only is that an airflow overkill, which probably kills the retention of the vape.
But the worst part I noticed is that the narrowed part totally ruins the connection.
It doesn't stay there tight and the cold air can massively flow over it into the bowl taking thee temp down even further. Just get the classics.
The classic PV stems have two differences and that is 3 channels going down letting a bit of cold air in (but not too much, so its still good) and the bottom is sawed at three points, wich is one thing I like about them, because the flat Arizer classic ones can block the airflow when they're ll the way in. The PVs never do that thanks to these three slits.
Anyway these PV stems are a lot more expensive than Arizer ones and I'm getting the best performance from the Arizer ones (if they're not blocking).

Can anyone give me any advice as to what aftermarket accessories I might buy to improve the performance of the Air?

When I got my Air from Puffitup.com I also got a JODA 18mm Glass stem with a carb port on the side to use with a zob bubbler I have. and I luv my air I havent used any of the stock stems. Just the Joda stem with my bubbler.

I have had my Q for a month maybe now and it is giving me problems now. I noticed one day that the temperature just shot up one day without me doing anything and then today I was using it and after the second bag fill it just shut off then it wouldn't come back on I unplugged everything and re plugged it in and it still didn't work so I picked it up and held down the power button and it came back on and worked for the last one and has been turning on since then. I just don't understand what's wrong because I have very careful about how I treat it.

Herb gardener...
Is it a new model???
Or did you buy second hand???

Tha q is known to have a slight glitch, where the temp can jump to a different temperature what you press a button on the remote (maybe a fan speed button or timer, not necessarily a temp button...

This is not a problem as long as you notice when it's happened....

As for the not turning on, my power button sticks sometime, I just give it a blow and a wiggle (not plugged in) and press button multiple times until it clicks again...

I assumed it was just sticky fingers or something that caused this...

As for q vs air...in my mind no portable will come close to the effects of massive extraction, rapidly...
I don't think battery tech is yet good enough to worry desktops....

I think OP needs to vape at the highest temperatures with the AA to get medicated as you would with the Q

Great write up! One thing I want to mention is that you can pack the same amount of medicine in the EQ as you can the AA. Just use the elbow pack method. I find this method is best for producing the best, strongest hits. I elbow pack at 180 C and it produces an amazing experience. I have the older silver EQ, and it's still running like a champ for me. The menu button sticks sometimes but other than that, it's still functioning perfectly. (Lost the remote but no issues using it without one)

As for the OP's question, the AA won't replace the EQ if that's your intended use. While I've had the EQ for at least 5 years, I just got the AA and thought it would hit similarly to the EQ. I'm sad to say this isn't the case. It is still not a bad unit whatsoever, but don't expect EQ like hits from it. If you need something for on the go, get the AA. But even with the AA, it's sometimes a bit of an inconvenience because of the separate stem. So if you're somewhere that forces you to be discreet, the AA can be somewhat challenging to load.

As for the feeling it gives compared to the EQ.... The EQ has the ability to put you on your ass with one hit. From my limited experience, you'll have a hard time getting the same kind of feeling from the AA. (I'm talking in stock settings) I don't know if other setups can produce a stronger feeling, but to me, I don't see how it'd be possible since it's running on a battery. I don't regret my AA purchase, but it definitely doesn't get me medicated like the EQ but it does a good job at keeping you medicated enough to feel it. Just don't expect EQ like hits from it.
