Can someone tell me how many watts the Volcano consumes? I have limited circuits and if it's anything significant it could cause the breaker to trip but I doubt it's over 100 watts which should be fine.

Edit: I had searched without finding it before posting but just did find it's 100 watts which is more than I was expecting but as I said should be fine, at least power usage drops significantly once it's preheated. Is it the plug in vape that takes the most power? That's probably why the temp is so stable, it has a powerful element to heat a big metal block that won't rapidly cool down with air flow

The Herbalizer takes 300 watts but it's kind of comparing apples to oranges: traditional heaters to halogen bulb heat supply.
It allows cold heatup to 445 F in about 8 seconds.

When I got my Volcano I remembered seeing that show where they were all sucking on the bags, I lol'd when I looked again and saw it was a Digit with easy valve like mine,
but then I became interested at how they arrived at 210C for a temperature setting.
First I thought it was probably for the hash they're talking about, but after reading the medic manual, and toying about, it's my current favourite setting for herb or solids.
Even a little higher, 214C (setting 8), gives a roasty popcorny taste that is less present at 210C.
210C is very close to the 208C (setting 7.5) that somebody recommended here a page or two back.

The older presenter guy in those videos, that was some hefty looking dose they were giving him to try!! That dutch herb is quite strong and if they gave him that much at 210C HAHA!
I've also been using that 8 second rule, or probably around 5 seconds normally, plus the odd breathing technique like the manual recommends, and I've been holding the vape from my other vapes in longer too after seeing this show again.
It works! not sure if it's just lack of oxygen!

The volcano works good on many different temperatures, it works well from around 3 all the way til about 7.5-8 it depends on the kind of medication you're looking for. Btw what's a volcano medic?

190c is 374f, that's about the temp I would start at, and end probably around 400f (204c) or even more, that's probably why you're not finding it to be enough.

Hi

With herbs you may try heating gradually; for example begin temp below 172C/341F to catch flavour, then 184C/363F and 202C/396F, finish at 226C/439F.

With hash I use cotton, like this and temp is above 190C/374F.

When bag is full, do not wait too long until vaping or you may caugh ;)

I was wondering, does the Volcano Digit come standard with extra screens? I know some sellers include some as a bonus, but if I were to buy it with no bonuses, are extra screens included or just the pre-installed ones? Also, I assume it comes with 1 roll of bags standard?

I was going to get it with lots of accessories (multiple extra bag rolls, extra filling chamber insert, screens, o rings) but to reduce the initial cost and buy it sooner I want to get just the Volcano Digit and an extra filling chamber insert (so I don't need to unscrew the filter each time I change it, I'll keep the extra insert/filter soaking in iso).

I just want to make sure I don't end up getting a Volcano with no bags or extra screens by getting just the base unit and a chamber insert.

By the way despite having had a Volcano for well over 5 years I don't remember how long bags last with daily use. I remember I ended up getting turkey oven bags when I ran out of my roll. How many rolls should I get to have enough for 1-2 years? I was thinking of getting 4 extra rolls when I make my 2nd order for accessories.

Thanks, so for the filling chamber insert it comes with 1 pre installed screen plus 3 extras that have the hole in the middle?

By the way why do they sell the screens as 3 bottom screens and 3 top screens, anyone that's used a vaporizer knows the bottom screen is basically self cleaning and never needs replacing, I have never replaced or cleaned the bottom screen of any vape in over 10 years as they remain clean, so it's silly to include 3 bottom and 3 top screens together, I think they should be sold separately, or at a ratio of 1 bottom screen for every 5 top screens.

I've seen compatible Volcano screens on eBay where you can buy just top screens, I guess those are good?

I've also seen fine and normal Volcano screens, I'm thinking normal will last longer before clogging, who's compared both and which do you prefer?

I'm finally feeling ready to buy the Volcano, I think I will in the next few days.

I finally did it, I bought my 3rd Volcano and my first Volcano Digit. I can't wait to get it, I had only resold my Volcano due to going through a period where I got extremely poor and needed the money (the 2nd I resold I bought from a friend during that same poor period and re-sold it for a profit). Now that things are going well again I'm happy to soon have a Volcano again, and the Digit this time (in part to avoid the fragile mechanical temp control that had broke on my classic and for the more accurate temp control and auto off).

I was wondering what sort of grind you recommend for the Volcano? I remember when I had my first Volcano I used an electric coffee grinder to get a relatively fine grind while now with my LSV I use my 4 piece grinder as I find a finer grind clogs the screen too fast (but does extract better).

Should I go back to an electric coffee grinder, continue to use my 4 piece grinder or use something else?

I know the Volcano comes with a cheap plastic grinder (not what I'd expect for its price), but the only other plastic grinder I had ground itself instead of the herbs (all the plastic prongs that are supposed to grind the herb just broke off while the herb was left intact), I guess the Volcano grinder isn't that bad? I don't remember having or using it with my first Volcano, did the Volcano include that same cheap grinder 10+ years ago when I got my first?

I have a 4 piece space case (had it about 12 years)but have been using the plastic grinder that came with the cano now,I had read that the finer you can get your herb the better and the plastic does it better :peace:

I've been using the volcano and different temp from 180 °c to 208°c and it's just not cutting it for me it's the sane material I used while on the pipes and they got me to the point I wanted to be at,am I doing something wrong? Really wishing the volcano was not wrong buy for me,feeling lost :peace: and even going back to the pipes is really harsh on the lungs, novice needing answers if yous can help :leaf:

Make sure everything is ground up nice, and evenly. If you are doing that already, then try this. Put just enough to cover the screen, and lightly tamp down to make everything like an almost solid puck. Not too much, you want air to get through without much restriction.

Then set the temperature to 446f, and do one bag at that temperature. After that lower the temperature to around 200c-204c, and stir the bowl up. Then redo what I described earlier for the bowl loading. And do at least three bags, before deciding it isn't doing anything.

You can also go to max by raising the temperature in 10 degree increments, if you really want the relaxed feeling smoking gives.

It will go like this:

Smoke a SMALL amount of herb to get your metabolism, and brain blood flow going. After about two minutes, you go vape.

1-first bag 446f
2-second bag 396f-400f
3-third bad 410f
4-fourth bag 420f
5 5th bag 430f
6 6th bag 440f

If this doesn't get you blasted, I don't know what to tell you.

Wow, 3! I think the lowest I tried so far in my 2 or 3 months was 4.5 with a nice portion in there but i guess with high quality material and more of it..
Indeed, I'm always surprised how low my other vape still functions at.
And sorry I hadn't signed in lately,
I think the Volcano Medic is a version that is approved by Canada for medical, differences I could see were a max of 210C and a one way valve on the mouthpiece so one cannot breathe back into the bag in error.
I think its under a different brand name too, but same logo.

Good on you! Nice to hear you'll be vaping like a millionaire again soon after having to make sacrifices in the past!!
And interesting to read of your knob failure (tee hee!), I couldn't decide Classic or Digit and now I hope my Digits components will last long! Probably will.

Ps. any old grinder works for me but I use the free orange plastic one now, no problems. I've started heeding advice lately about pre-grinding it in good time and allowing warmth and air to pass near it

That's strange, I took my unit to a house last night with 4 combusters and 1 onlooker and they were all very impressed! All of them remarked on the nice taste, the light healthy lung feeling, and many said they hadn't been so high in a long time, and they all felt a bang from one or two inhales each time.
Is it possible you have a type of material, the term I would put on it is 'airy'? and it's not vaping well, try change material next.
Also, vapor can safely be and probably needs to be held in longer than smoke. Or try breathing it in and out on exhale.
Try half filling your lungs with vapor then the rest with air, or all with vapor.
Hit it first thing in the morning?!
One way to use it is near full temp, 226C maybe 230, and with small amounts. Might suit a smoke lover!
Don't forget to let it run for 3 seconds before you put the bag on as it's mostly air at the start.
The way I use it for now is 210C, keep adding a pinch or two for every bag until the Easy valve bowl is full, as in, don't empty it out every time.
Hope you enjoy the thing soon, like me, and my pals last night!

sounds like a whip vape & bubbler might be your thing. I've got a Volcano, and though I love it, I rarely use it solo. the SSV is very bong-like.
Cheers for all the info guys I'm just about to get vaping again and I will try all the different tips yous have have me,I'm starting to hear of a lot more people only using the cano on certain occasions,o actually watched a video of the ssv AFTER buying the cano  so wishing I had done a tad more research lol but om not giving up easily lol:peace:

A Volcano & a SSV are a perfect matching setup; best of both worlds, one can be a single big hitter/ripper like a bong, and the other is great for groups, so don't worry, you're on the path we are all on here, and that is one to multiple vaporiser ownership, because vapes ;)

I think it will be a moth or 2 before i get another vape and will need to do under the radar of the mrs lol but the only other good thing about trial and error is I have plenty AVB to start cooking, cheers for all the help :2c::leaf:

SSV, The Plenty, Aromed 4.0

They are all around the same price with 50-100$ differences. The SSV is great but has a learning curve, but once you master it it's fantastic. The Plenty is great for big, smooths hits, easy to use, you can use it with TINY TINY amounts, or HUGE amounts due to the chamber size. The Aromed is a light that heats up your herb, some of the best flavour on any vaporizer and it tastes good on the first and last draw!

I've watched a video on the ssv and what I took from it was steady inhales,so if you inhale to fast its on the verge of combusting but too slow and the heat doesn't vape much,if that is the case if used bongs since I started smoking and I think that would have helped me have the steady inhale correct me if I'm wrong, cheers for the info I will gt looking at the other vapes :peace::leaf:
