My Mighty charger has shit the bed and died due to frayed wires/cord near the male power imput.

Is this covered under warranty or am I shit out of luck?

The muzzmod is theoretically the perfect water adapter for Mighty/Crafty.
I and at least one other member have had failures for one reason or another, so I'm not as excited about them as I once was. I made one with JB Weld high temp 2 part epoxy. After a few weeks of pretty rigorous use (worked great!) reclaim-type oil was able to seep between the adhesive and the mod parts, and the glue began to peel back very slightly in a couple of spots.

I don't think the glue failed, per se. I believe the different expansion/contraction rates of the glass, the epoxy and the S&B composite material, at these wide swings in temperature, conspire to make success tricky at best. Nothing about the failure worried me from a health/safety point of view, but I just don't want to go through the process again.

Hats off to those who've got long lasting muzzmods! Enjoy.

I am curious after some time now how others are faring with their muzzmods. @biohacker, I know you'll keep us posted about yours!

I will indeed, I can't wait...@lazylathe is making them for me with the JB high temp putty, and i'm sure that the glass adapter used is important too, for there to be a flush seal? If they don't last no big deal, at least I gave it a go! Perhaps then I will be forced to purchase the less superior easyflow.

email them and explain what happened, very good chance they'll just send you out a new one.

they sent me like 4 new chargers over 6 months because i kept frying them by plugging in my mighty when it was still 300 degrees lol.

I was so impressed with the Crafty, I decided to add a Mighty to the collection...just ordered one from puffitup with the FC discount. I assume I'll be getting the newest model from puffitup, as they were out of stock two days ago and must have just got new ones in stock.

what is the discount, been thinking of a mighty myself but hesitant about the cost, especially since id want this to last 1-2 years and it seems like alot only last a few months before they need to be returned/repaired

I'm using the easy flow adaptor since brand-new and never ever have one single problem with it.
Having said that i didn't do the muzzmod ,due to my epoxy allergies.(very easy to get when you work with it often, and i builded a yacht)(so that might be still superior)
original i was not happy with the seal and 2 small pressure points the two nobs were creating.
This is easy resolved by measuring the CU connection and then copy this with a Dremel to the easy flow adaptor. now you should be able to almost completely turn adaptor in and it spreads the pressure load to the whole grove, instead of two small tabpionts.
Another bonus is you now have a proper seal between the unit and adaptor.
I tamp the load firm enough to not need the screenpad in the adaptor, i do like to use the corse screen though as this helps your bubbler stay clean a lot longer.
In my experiance the screenpad take's away a lot of the active's, and doesn't really milk the glass.
God do i love this little machine:love::freak::love:

Thanks for the feedback about this Vapefiend adapter. Not readily available in US, so I haven't gone for one yet. Your story is encouraging. I'm loving the idea of a relatively easy mod for the over-torque problem!(maybe manufacturer is listening?) Kudos, Thanks! and welcome to relatively new poster!
btw, pictures are always appreciated here!

Having to use the pad to fill the space is what has been the biggest deal breaker for me with the Vapefiend adapter, and then you have the issue of messing up your Mighty. I don't want to have to modify a mod, especially if it involves a dremmel. If my muzzmods fail though (i'm assuming they will after some abuse!), i'll just go back to using the SonG. I gave up on my WPA/silicone due to the restriction in the WPA, the airflow was affected compared to straight SonG.

Just been using my Mighty exclusively for days and the results have been impeccable! Starting to think that 210c is maybe just a bit too much though! :rofl:Talk about milking white bong snaps! Tough to cache a bowl in one massive lungful!

Not sure why you're making a distinction. You're willing to go for building the muzzmod adapter with glass, epoxy and a cannibalized cooling unit, employing dremel or hacksaw, etc., while removing some excess material from an off-the-shelf adapter seems troublesome, in comparison. Even unmodified, it sounds from reports like the Vapefiend works pretty well - just have to be careful with the off/off torque, as for different reasons you need to be careful how you twist the muzzmod by holding the composite as much as or more than the glass (that's even harder when it's all hot!).
I think with Vapefiend I would continue my habit of using a simple top screen on short loads so I don't think I'd use the oil pad. @Green Kiwi seems to get along fine with none! We all make our own tracks in the snow (or sand as the case may be).

I like the SonG adapters that @Ratchett has been developing, and do use some of them, some times. Great function, easy to clean. Two things not so crazy about; all the silicone stuff including tubing I use for whip collects dirt like a magnet (on outside) and gets gritty -- rinses off readily, but annoying. Second, in my limited experience, glass doesn't slide on/off of SonG adapters as easily as GonG.

Thanks, though I'll leave that to someone with better legal 'positioning' than me. It is nonetheless, a good one for the suggestion box!

Because i'm having a friend make my muzzmods as i've stated before. I'm just appreciative that he's taking the time to make them, and if they do fail I will entertain the thought of the easyflow, but i'm still paranoid about reports of it breaking their expensive Mighty's. With the muzzmod, it's the stock CU connection, so i'm sure i'll be able to handle it. Furthermore, the easyflow is a retail product - there should be no need to modify it!

I think with Vapefiend I would continue my habit of using a simple top screen on short loads so I don't think I'd use the oil pad.

I will soon post pics of both of my Mighty's - one that has used a screen to contain the biomass, and one that has only had the dome screen. The bowls are night and day, and I will never go back to using a screen. Then again, surely the pad can scratch as well?

I have a c/u with stock screen and one that has a domed screen and use both so I don't think I need pics, though we all like pics!
Because the domed screen is fixed, and extends about halfway or less into the chamber, I use it for like, approximately a half bowl or slightly more. Less biomass than that and the dome screen doesn't touch it, so for smaller loads, I go with a screen right atop the load, light pressure only, and standard c/u setup. S&B even says don't let the biomass swirl around in there.

If the ss oil pad can scratch the bowl, so can any removal/installation of stock oven screen. I do keep it all quite clean and accept that some scratches are just gonna happen along the way.
If I have done a cleaning of the oven, I extend that by wiping the bowl with a small piece of paper towel while it's still hot from use.

I think you misconstrued. I meant pics that show one Mighty bowl w/scratches due to using the screen mod, and the other Mighty bowl that i've used with dome screen mod, no scratches. Some of these scratches begin to flake, and look like hell. I also meant screen on top of biomass, not stock IN the CU.

I've never had any issues with the dome screen not containing even .05g. Perhaps you are not tamping enough? Just a slight tamp with the orange tool seems to work perfectly for the biomass staying put, in my experience. Perhaps I use a different grind consistency, not sure how a small load could swirl around with a dome screen mod, at least I have not been able to recreate that scenario.

REALLY looking forward to the muzzmod to eliminate the air flow drag of the CU!

The domed screens don't scratch up the bowl anymore than the liquid pad...they key to not scratching anything is to empty the bowl while warm.

The liquid pad works great, but it's thickness does absorb some of the vapor as it passes through and over time it collects oil in the center that isn't easily vape-able

The only disadvantage to the screen is its size, which makes it subseptable to being lost.

A while ago I put small pieces of bud IN the cooling unit between the groves in the cooling unit...

After a week or so....the buds are sticky and taste great!

Yes, sorry, I misunderstood that you want to illustrate with two different Mighty's.
I haven't had any flaking in the bowl. Slight scratches, yes, that sometimes I used to buff out of Crafty with a scrubbie. Haven't done that to Mighty yet.

If the screen, stock one in place, or dome, does not actually touch the material, what is the difference in how material is processed? Why choose one over the other?

This sounds like an interesting thing to add to your reclaim factory!

I wonder if when I "tamp" the micro load, when I use the dome in the CU, perhaps the small little disc "lifts" up very slightly, and the dome prevents biomass swirl? Whereas just the stock flat would cause that disc to lift more than a 1mm and affect the integrity of the the biomass, potentially causing it to swirl around somewhat?

That sounds like a great idea for an INFUSER! It's the WaV Infuser mod/hack!!!

Also, we were referring to a screen being stuck into the bowl (some cut it like a pacman) that can scratch easily due to abrasive edges. Not dome screens....those don't scratch. Liquid pad I haven't paid attention because I don't use those, but I assume that they DON'T scratch?

I just bought my mighty and I just had a go at their german CS, after some testing of waters on email.
I asked for 2 Crafty cords since mine were worn out, they kept going back and forth asking if I really bought the items I asked RMA for. After a bit too much of back and forth they claimed they "received my damaged items" which I never sent, and just 20hrs after that I got something like 4x what I asked. And something FOR MY BIRTHDAY!
BUT I had my way of asking that Mighty CU! :*
It was a surprise! After reading the invoice I had clear in mind what I read over and over in the Plenty and Volcano threads. You better order FROM THEM if you want top notch CS at least here with SB germany. Price might be higher, no FC discount, but day-after delivery and you don't get 10% discount but you'll get 20% worth of accessories instead. And peace of mind of receiving last revision of the last model all the times.
AAAAND so I got a Plenty too. B)
Mighty is awesome but I need not to be tied to batteries. I don't want to melt my Mighty.
Said that, they want to be sure you are not some immature asking free stuff without manners or any right to do so. After that they are a piece of cake and surely make it work to order some spare parts sometimes.
Cheers.
That white piece is teflon and emits no smell

I'm pretty sure this is to help with auto shutoff features.

They are no longer known for good CS. I sent them an email two weeks ago requesting a shipping label...no response. They never answer the phone either...kind of makes me want to sell the mighty in all honesty.

It amazes me how different people have different CS experiences with S&B. Regardless, at this point I love the Mighty so much that I will accept the inconsistency, especially since my own experience has been AAA+. Until there is a better product for me, I have no choice. Just like being forced to buy the Crafty (again)... they just making fucking amazing products. I thought the GH would be my Crafty killer, but i'm not so sure anymore. The Mighty is just in another league!

S&B - if you just shrank the Mighty a little....kept the 2nd battery and lcd display..... my gawd.... I would pay good money for that!

First we need someone (anyone) or manufacturer to make a PROPER Muzzmod, that never comes apart. Kinda like the easyflow vapefiend adapter, but much better!
