Woweee @Reflections Jax is a wonderful name for such a nice looking pup, sounds very cool! I bet he is a bundle of joy, congratulations to you both on the new edition! Yeah I had thought that a wet saw might be used to cut such a stone, I have had some dealings with ceramic tile in the past and we used such a machine to cut it. Turning might be an all together different kinda animal all in itself. I am currently looking at small CNC's, Lasers and Mills at the moment, I have some neat ideas for future projects that would need such machines, just trying to get info in order to make the best decision before spending a bunch of dough. Ohhh I love spending money but usually do alot of thinking before opening my wallet.

@stickstones You are so right, I didnt know what I was thinking at the time when I mentioned that but with todays technology anything maybe possible, probably cant but would sure be cool if it could! Really like your site bro, very neat my man, hope its going well! Been a while, be good to hear from you some time, be well and stay safe!

Good morning, good morning, ok so I got my lumber order in yesterday and like I said it felt alot like Christmas, what a day what a day! I got the boys out there and we started opening the boxes, looking at this and that and wow what pieces they are and the beauty is just amazing so I snapped a couple pics just to show you all what I saw, got alot of blackwood but didnt see any reason in putting that in the pic, you all know what it looks like, hated my guy forgot to send me my Thuya burl but it is what it is and its en route to me this morning so no sweat. Now for a little Show & Tell,

in the back is a couple pieces of Tulip wood, left front is the Walnut Burl slab, middle front is the really sweet Kingwood, ohhh I love this species, have worked its cousin before Camatillo, really really dig this wood, very dense and hard, when finished it freaking POPS, on the right it that Amboyna Burl slab I showed you a few days back.

2016-02-10%2015.54.34-1_zpsceoq5czg.jpg

Now for a little sneak peak at what you dont see in the Walnut Burl slab in its above condition, after a quick sanding and very lite coat of polyurethane

BAM!!!

How bout this beauty and just think what she will look like in the future!!!

They all are so tempting Ed lol..very nice!

I still cant get over the beauty of that walnut burl slab, I still find myself wasting much time just looking at it, its a trip! Oh I cant wait to work in the Kingwood, its going to be so freaking nice!

Oh get this, I have been joking with the boys about going to the Roswell alien festival all the time, well wouldnt you know it it happens at the end of June and the first of July, so I planning on leaving a couple days before the beginning and driving out there, going through Louisiana will rent a small tear drop kinda lightweight camper to pull behind my truck just to have a few beds, we are going to load up totes full of clothing, camping gear, fishing stuff, firewood and everything we need for a 2 week road trip. Going to do Roswell, then drive up and over to the Hoover dam Grand Canyon area for a couple days, then up and over to Yellowstone for a few days there before coming home, how bout that for a summer trip, with gas super low and they are expecting it to go even lower for quiet some time, now is the time and what a time it will be all my boys are at just the right age and its just us guys going, I so cant freaking wait. Already putting cash back in the vacation account for it and getting the trip planned, just think of the memories will will make, they will carry them for the rest of their lives as will I!

Good morning everyone, hope all is well out there and you alls week is off to a great start! I had a great few days with my boys in the shop and ended it with my girl for valentines. Got some time out in the shop with Carter working on his last set of pen blanks that he had with tubes glued inside, he got his beauty turned from a quality piece of Cocobolo, we knew it would have an eye and was so hoping it would turn out and so it did!

Cocobolo%20Wooden%20Pen%20-%20Reeds%20Wooden%20Pens_zpsi8sp0og3.png

This one needs a home if any of you Cocobolo lovers are interested!

We spent the next day boring blanks and getting tubes glued up, think he has about a dozen various pieces ready to turn, ohhhh beautiful species for sure, got some more Buckeye Burl, Amboyna Burl, Bog Oak, Olivewood, gosh a cornucopia of species! We are out there working on these blanks, I picked the boys up from school and they talked about what they were goign to get their mom for valentines day and my youngest asked me what would I like, as always I told him I didnt want for anything but just wanted them to have a good holiday and get their mom something, he didnt need to worry about me, he told me that he was going to make me something and that it would be a surprise, ohhhh I am sure you all know how I like surprises, I told him great and I couldnt wait, a little while later while Carter and I are in the shop Kyle comes in and has a little grin on his face and he gave me this

2016-02-13%2008.13.57_zps5detid7o.jpg

OMGosh, I choked up, my heart filled with joy, I gave him the biggest hug telling him how much I love him, hung it in my upper stereo cabinet in the shop where I have been hanging stuff the boys do for me for years. Gosh it was the nicest gift, I so love my boys! Ohhh and my Thuya burl showed up Saturday, wow I have never worked this wood before as I said and have never held it in my hand either, its very unique, I wanna say it reminds me of a cedar tree for the most part but it has some really unique burl eyes, they are dark black, I really like this wood and look forward to working it soon!

2016-02-13%2016.12.51_zpsldoarfty.jpg

I spoke with my wood guy again Friday morning about getting some additional wood for a project with one of my guys I do stuff for so not one to ruin his surprise will say no more, anyhow my guy tells me he has some more walnut burl slabs that I am probably going to be interested in. Just gave him a call earlier, seems one of his guys from shipping called in sick so he is helping out in the warehouse and hasnt gotten me the pics just yet, I am beside myself just waiting to see what treasures he has found for me.

For a quick Show & Tell, my guy and great friend @Aezhenn who is a true woodsman himself went above and beyond what I had seen in the past and made this, I know you all had seen the burl piece he did for me a while back, I told him I wanted a matching set but a little different and this is what he came up with, its 20 layers with genuine turquoise inlay, I have seen others do them and can only imagine the man hours he has in the set, this is my piece, what a work of magic he really did to create this piece, thanks so much my friend!

Sapelle%20Ring%20Turquoise%20Inlay%20copy_zpsnxbpkrjv.png

I am working on custom stuff this week also, got a few pieces done and more to come, really wanna do a number for the upcoming Show & Tell really soon so keep an eye out!

@Reflections Glad you like the sound of our trip, I really feel it will be one of a lifetime! Ohhh you are so right I cant bring myself to cut into just for smalls, have talked with Connor and we are going to order some clock parts and I am going to let him make a wall clock with it, its really going to be an amazing piece. Just you wait!

@Aezhenn Thanks for stopping by my man, all those pieces above are sure to make alot of people very happy, I am just blessed to have the ability to create pieces from them and enjoy doing it so others can enjoy what I have done, how cool is that! Seriously excited to make that trip, ohhhh cant wait to tell those stories and share those pics, talk about S&T!!!

Somebody needs to step up and get some of the new stuff, am anxious to turn em!

@Aezhenn Means alot bro, really like looking at this piece on my hand, got a lot of compliments already!

@Reflections You gotta get you a ring for sure if you're into them, I so dig mine and my girls, its the only set in the world like em, thats whats great about wood, its so unique and Aezhenn's work is nothing short of masterful! Admit it, what kind of jerk would I be to saw that slab apart, would be a total injustice to do so and why not let Connor work his magic, will be a great project for him!

Good morning everyone, hope all is well out there and you all are having a great weekend! Really had a great few days past with the boys and my girl. Busy busy as always but did some good time with them in the shop and round the place! So got back to doing custom stuff trying to catch up where I can for a moment, really really have so much going on, once this batch is out may have to take a short time out for custom and get to work on all the wholesale and new collaborations I am doing, just picked up a new project with a guy some of you may be very familiar with, got to get some wood in and new tooling for this and will do a detailed S&T when the time is right for that project. So Carter got another pen turned for my girl Thursday, she is in the medical field, he did this one from Blue Mahoe, the sun was going down when I took the shot and the upper end was popping, really like this one

Blue%20Mahoe%20Wooden%20Pen%20-%20Reeds%20Wooden%20Pens_zpszk33u65e.png

Got Connors stuff in for the shave brushes so we worked on that Saturday, didnt have enough time to do it all, he turned the brush handle but we still have to install the badger fur and then turn the stand piece, its really going to be a nice offering for him! I got my Texas state plaque for my mount late friday afternoon, its freaking huge, going to get it to my vinyl people tomorrow to get the wrap cut and placed on top of it, ohhhhh I am ecstatic bout it! Also got my Widespread Panic Tickets for their April show in the city, didnt get the best seats but sure arent the worst either, gosh so much good stuff is happening! Ok so I take out the plaque and I show my boys, I know I have told you how they are about boxes and bubble wrap, I swear Carter has some cat in him, the box wasnt nearly even in a shape he could fit in but hes like dad pls let me get in the box, pls let me get the bubble wrap! LOL, I couldnt let him try to fit in the box, needed some of the bubble wrap to put back around the plaque and the box to transport it back and forth to my people. I had probably 16' of it so I cut off what I needed and left the rest in the corner, had to get back out side to the shop for a little more work, was out there a little but then had to run back inside, this is what I came in to find

Bubble%20wrap%20Kid_zpso0nq6ly8.jpg

He was rolling around popping the bubbles doing the worm in it, lol, if only you all could have seen what I saw, I swear he is a smart kid, maybe even a rocket scientist one day! Hahahaha what a pic and what a kid, I am blessed! Yesterday after all the work we had done the days before we gathered some wood, my girl like I said is from the city, its still the south but figured hey its Mississippi, we were going to have a small fire and do hot dogs over it and smores, I was astonished to find out that my girl has never ever cooked or rather eaten a hot dog over a fire, uhhhhh say what, I realize that I took her for her first ride on a dirt road, yeah she didnt know the difference between beef or milk cows, but never thought for a second that she had never done hot dogs over a camp fire so to speak, hmmmm I am really starting to question where she is really from! We really had a blast was 77 here yesterday and not cold at all last night so the fire was just right and the time we had all together was great!

Now for some Show & Tell, this is just a few pieces I have done pretty much, have a bunch more and there will be a more extensive S&T soon, first off we have

A Supreme 18mm 6"L Purpleheart stem, it has a tapered 18mm male at the lower end with a 7/16" ID x 1/2" bowl depth x 5/16" draw hole where a 1/2" screen can be pressed into it and held snugly in place

Purpleheart%2018mm%20Supreme%206inch%20Stem%20-%20Eds%20TnT_zpsu5qehctv.jpg

I also gotta believe that this style piece could be used for various other vapes with similar setups like the Supreme maybe even the Zion and such, just saying!

Now this piece has eluded me for quite some time, my guy has been wanting one for a long long time and hit me up with an idea for making it happen, cant exactly remember what his initial idea was but I gave it a quick thought and used his idea for inspiration for this piece, you all know Buckeye is a soft soft wood, my guy had been wanting this species for a VapMan wong but it just wasnt happening with such soft wood and such a teeny tiny short end to fit in the middle section, as I said I cant exactly remember what he wanted me to do but thought hey why dont I make the ID of the Buckeye WPA larger and then turn an insert from a denser wood that I know will handle the fit so I did and used Blackwood so here is what I was able to do!

Buckeye%20Burl%2018mm%20Vapman%20WPA%20w-Insert%20-%20Eds%20TnT_zpsiwtw80df.jpg

Really like Blackwood for its versatility and strength, its such a great wood and makes so much of my work possible!

Buckeye%20Burl%2018mm%20Vapman%20WPA%20w-Insert%202%20-%20Eds%20TnT_zpsgb6pbg9i.jpg

I love how well and sleek the Blackwood turned and finished, there are no turn or sand lines, its pristine and to me looks spectacular!

Here we have a Blackwood 18mm UD OEM tip WPA, very clean, short and sweet, nuff said!

18mm%20Blackwood%20Underdog%20WPA%20-%20Eds%20TnT_zpsj3te8rqt.jpg

This is my latest VapCap woodie, my guy wanted it in Blackwood with a 14mm mouthpiece, he let me do what I do and I did something a little different, yeah it probably looks close to others you may have seen in the past, I really wanted this piece to be super sexy, I like the new TI tips George is making @VapCap with the twist in them which is also sexy I feel when paired with this woodie

Blackwood%2014mm%20VapCap%20Woodie%20-%20Eds%20TnT_zps4yb06zg2.jpg

will be drop dead sexy!!!

So be on the lookout you all, got the clock parts in yesterday, new wood coming Tuesday, more S&T to follow, OMGosh good times, good happenings, good things to come, I might need a sedative just to sit still!

This is a piece I did for a good good friend of mine, he has a couple portables but no desktops really and he sure doesnt have a log, I was going through my vapes and organizing all the pieces I have acquired, I have the two early model HI's so I did him a # didnt even tell him and sent him a surprise, I sent him my Sindora Burl HI with some goodies and since no one had mentioned wanting a Kingwood Stem I figured I would make him one for his HI, this is a great looking piece probably should have shot it in a different setting but its too late now

This thuya burl is really beautiful!
Making boxes is a good idea too! People will like to have a box and a stem well matched.
With the beautiful woods you use, even the smalls will do great things!

Hello my friend, I am glad you like the Thuya, I am ecstatic about it to be honest! I would like to make these boxes but for the price and the amount of time that I am sure it takes, I cant beat the price nor do I have the time to make them myself. I do feel that some of my customers would like to have them though. Thanks for your input bro! Hope all is well over your way!

I must say that the Thuya Burl is by far one of my most favorite burls to work ever in my life so far, its freaking stunning to hold in hand, the feel is luxurious and the look is nothing but magical, I really like Amboyna but GEEEZZZZ the look and feel of CLASS just oozes from this piece!

Now here is a piece I picked up from one of distributors for smalls that I get, its a very well made wooden jar where the top is threaded and screws into the bottom and stays tight, its not really that big but not that small either, pls have a look and let me know what ya think if they are worth adding to my retail stock, was going to do them for $7.50 each

Pls tell me what you all think, I am anxious to add them!

Also got a really great review of my Bog Oak Air stems the other day, you can check it out here if you like.

Ohhh also forgot, I got my Texas state plaque in, camo placed on top, ducks mounted, just waiting on the eyes for the birds, this mount is by far the most unique I have ever seen and am so excited to show you all how my thought has come to reality, I can honestly say I have never seen such a piece ever in my life!

@TeeJay1952 Hey there, been a while bro, hope all is well and thank you for stopping by! Really glad you like what you saw and you are right I suppose the Vapman wong/insert could be adapted for use in other ways, hadnt even thought of that but hey guess its possible! Hope all is well for you and thanks again for posting up, good to see you round!

@ragnorokk Good morning, glad you like that VC Woodie as much as I do, hope you really like the latest piece I did above, gosh working wood is alot of fun, it can be super frustrating at times and can have me throwing my hands up storming out the shop mad as heck calling it a day but when its a good day its a great day and those are so rewarding! Alot is happening this year my man, be on the look out and stay tuned homie!

Wow yeah that Thuya is really cool, and a gorgeous VC body design of course. Also really like the look of that macadamia and the kingswood, such a generous sole you are Ed!

And the jar is a phenomenal idea, beautiful use of wood and such a low price to boot! Keep it up with the creating brother!

@Reflections Hello there, glad you like the Thuya also and like the wood jars idea, will have them available on my site next week some time, yeah you cant beat the way they are made and the price too, just makes sense. Thanks for taking time to check out the review, I appreciate that! Will get to your piece soon, I know you enjoyed it and I hate you are missing it so. I gotta say the latest slabs of Walnut Burl are so freaking nice, they are rather large guess you could do a entire vape tray base or what have you, hmmm thatd be neat!

@Madcap79 Yeah, someone is a very lucky person, am sure their vapes will get some steady use for a while breaking these new stems in! How many of those contests did Tom do, I think I wanna say I remember one of those.

@Shit Snacks Really glad you like what all you see bro, hope all is well your way. Hows that Lily wong working for ya still? I hope you are enjoying it. Really glad to see the positive thoughts for the jars, like I said they are en route and will be available next week.

@TeeJay1952 Keep an eye out bro, be glad to get you right!
