I know THC isn't water soluble but I found this article http://www.canorml.org/healthfacts/smokestudy.html Ive noticed smaller oil rigs with simpler filtration get me medicated on small amounts compared to bigger more complicated rigs. I haven't tried dabbing without water filtration before but I have tried smoking out of one before. Pros: You don't have to inhale as hard to get a big hit, (no THC filtered out?), bud burns slower, smoke is still smoother compared to a pipe.
Cons: harsher hit no filtration

Has anyone tried dabbing without water filtration and do you think it's more efficient?

There is definitely a loss of at least some THC and probably even terps through water. But I find dab vapor to be very hot without water personally, and not comfortable. People use things like nectar straws which have no water though. It's definitely viable and probably more efficient.

I don't use water anymore in any of my glass. It tends to freeze and crack glass in winter if I forget to drain it and in the summer time, it gets so hot out there, I don't trust it not to grow bacteria, if I forget to dump it.

I guess I am lazy about using water. I like the look of the reclaim better without water in the glass also.

I am a welder, so I guess heat is not something I fret over.

Lazy to the point that your water pipe stays outside and freezes? I like your style haha.
I'd be lost without the water because I don't like it too hot.

My first "rig" was a dry rig..

It looked like a giant Sherlock Pipe, and the glass nail slid up and down.

Turn Sherlock upside down and nail slides out..
Heat nail with unit still inverted, then turn right side up so the nail recesses back into the pipe...

Dab.

Vapor was very hot , but holy hell, that piece got me dabbing exclusively for well over 2 years.
I eventually got a Dnail, but still preferred my domeless mini rig.
Very simple diffusion, with very little water and much less surface area to let vapor re-condense.

That dry piece...
I'm not sure if it was the strain I was using, but instead of normal goopy reclaim, it was shatter plastered on the walls of the vapor path.

I could literally chip it out and dab it again.

Water cools dabs, but at a cost...
Use as little water as possible for most pleasant experience IME.
