Discontinued The Grasshopper

Grepper

Truth to prevail
I received my 5th hopper body today! Guess what? My mouthpiece from the previous hopper does not thread on. In fact, it doesn't thread on at all. Totally different threads. I am truly amazed. If they changed the threads how could they not send a new mouthpiece as well?? I have gone through so many combinations of back ends and bodies yet I STILL DON'T HAVE A WORKING HOPPER. Words cant express how disappointed I am. I honestly feel like I am on the receiving end of a cruel prank.

Oh and I am responsible for paying to send back the broken hopper.

Well that just scared the crap out of me. I've got a new body on it's way and now I'm wondering if my mouthpiece will thread on. I have an older hopper (Received September 2015) so if they changed the threading up I'm almost positive mine won't fit.

Different thread pitch? Hopefully a one off error?

That seems like a big difference- how old are the older ones?
I don't know that much about batteries, but is this normal? I'd hoped they would last a lot longer...

Battery 1 from Oct. 5th. They to test something, they sent me an extra battery (which I paid them for to keep), maybe sometime in November? I can't quite say there, sorry.

These new batteries I got in January... the 15th or so.

Battery 1 and 2 were treated like shit to be completely honest, which is why I'm not surprised. Back to back to back hits until the battery died, full charge, sometimes using it on the charger and keeping it on to let it get back to full. Bad care on my part, which is probably why they last 1 and 1/2 chambers less, and charges 25 minutes faster. Even if a couple of these were okay for the battery... it was pretty constantly abused, the poor little guys. I treat them better now for what it's worth :F

These new ones I've treated perfectly. Always charge them externally with all 4 batteries on the i4.

That's interesting. The last backend they sent me wouldn't thread on to the older body I have (Several months old). It's odd to think they'd do a wholesale change to threading and not send a complete unit when replacing parts. I wonder if they had some manufacturing issues with the backends? Btw - was your's SS or TI?

Day 5 update SS Hopper #12XX

-52 chambers in
-back end still not an issue at all
-I bumped the temp to 2 to start with and take (5) 7-8 second draws (as opposed to a 10-12 second draw on 1) then another 5 draws on 2 3/4s. Great taste better vapor. Excellent extraction .25-.3 grams
-I find it best to top off the batteries. I vape a chamber (10 draws on temp 2) then I USB charge it back to full when the hopper has cooled down. This way takes 10-12 minutes.
-when I drain the battery with 2 chambers (so the red lights just flash and it won't turn blue) it takes about 30-32 minutes to fully charge through USB
-do not think I will try using it as a pass through device. I feel the unit (chamber) getting as hot as it does would not be good for the battery. I never charge a vape or battery directly after use, I always let it cool down first.
-charging through the I4 charger seems to take a bit longer. About 35-40 minutes.
-I found a small cap to cover the magnetic portion of the USB charger when not charging. I don't want it to make contact with something metal and short out.
-I have been pulling the USB charger off at the magnetic base, not by pulling the wires. I feel after some time it my damage the wires around the magnet if you pull on them.
-I prefer to USB charge it for convenience and quickness (in car) but I still do use the I4 charger also.
-did not think I would use the leather sleeve as much as I do. It is very nice and protects the hopper well
-I plugged the USB into a cheap AC adapter and did hear the little black box on the cord by the magnet buzz when I connected it. I switched back to my other AC adapter and all is well. No buzzing.
-still enjoying the grasshopper very much, even more and more each day as I hone my skills.
-still getting same results with chambers (2) per battery
-still getting the same amount of draws per chamber (between 10-12 depending on the temp)
-It is very stealthy. I went to a concert and held my hopper in my hand with my cell phone passing through security, nobody looked twice.
-1 battery (2 chambers) was enough for the show (2 hours) I already had a head start though....
-I am surprised but very happy I've had no issues yet
-all is well with the Hopper and the batteries (keeping and holding a charge)
-the grasshopper is very powerful and very versatile.
-super happy with results so far although it has only been 5 days.

If anyone has any questions I haven't addressed just ask.

I will be posting updates for 2 more days (my first week with my hopper).

Once a week (honeymoon phase) is up, I will still update here and there but if a problem occurs I will be sure to post ASAP.

Doc, you rock ! WooHoo ! ! When I get my titanium Grasshopper I will hit the ground running, so to speak, having transposed your reports into my much- flattened learning curve. Thanx ! , again.

This is really interesting. I've only ever charged my GH through my laptop and (assuming) the buzzing has always been there (I only noticed it about a month ago, after the magnetic piece). My only other option would be an iPhone brick, which from what I recall also had the transformer buzz. Glad to hear it's still treating you well like the rest of (most) of us ;)

Really want to get one but the waiting time is ridiculous.

Can't argue there. Whether you order now or wait until it's in retail stock, there'll be a heck of a wait. Pre order will be a shorter wait, but retail doesn't require putting money into something you won't see for months at minimum, so the wait would probably go more smoothly

Today I had been using my hopper with no problems. Until the afternoon, when it stopped heating in the middle of a draw. Turned it off and back on and got flashing red lights. Kept trying with the same result.
I figured my number was up, it finally broke. Guess I wasn't immune to the grasshopper curse. I spent the next 15 minutes dreading the thought of having to fill out a warranty request, pay to ship it in, be without this miracle for who-knows-how-long.
Then it dawned on me: DUH! the battery had just died. That's all. I was using the damn thing so much and all these damn negative reports got me all worried for nothing LOL. This thing is too damn effective

If there were a little silicone tip to insert into the mouthpiece, that was also conductive, it would serve as a stylus for our smartphones, and allow us to 'demonstrate' the function of the stylus in situations such as these.
It would help contain smell too.
And if an official were being particularly nosy an 'active' stylus even provides a reason for the battery/fatness of the unit.
Taking it apart in front of them (rear end only obviously) might even quell fears that you're carrying a 'tactical pen'.

Clearly if they're looking that closely you're sailing pretty close to the wind anyway, but odour containment seems enough of a reason to have something like this without the other befefits.

Already mentioned by @Gregori that the GH does work natively on some screens as a stylus!

I think he confirmed xperia and Samsung mini so far.

Completely not true with Lithium-Ion or IMR's (which I believe the Grasshooper batteries are.)

Top up whenever you want. Just like you do your cell phone, laptop, etc. Same as I do for all my vape batteries. What you don't want to happen is to have them completely discharged. Having them discharge below 3.4v is a big no-no for these batteries. The GH's protection should not let the battery get that low. I think another member confirmed that it doesn't, that it stops around 3.6v before the lights start to flash.
i tend to disagree. i wrote en e-mail to Arizer team asking how to ensure longest battery life for my Solo. they answered that the best thing to do is to make a full cycles. think i'm gonna believe expert producers. not you. here is that mail:

Thank you for your email

For optimum battery life it is best to use the unit on battery power and fully cycle the battery from full to empty, but due to many built-in safety protections using the unit while charging, or topping up the charge before it is fully drained should not result in any significant or noticeable decline in battery life.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

i guess you stand corrected.

Dude, I don't mean to come across as rude. But what @Hawk said is 100% true. You are mistaken, what you have quoted was for the solo, not The GH.

It depends on the type of battery.
But LI-ION (what most modern batteries are) prefer to be periodically charged (not run flat).

I think from memory, for long storage 60% charge is ideal.
And if you recharge @ 30% and charge to 80% it is ideal.

There is plenty of websites that document this. Do some googling and come back to us on your findings.

so you are saying that Arizer Tech people doesn't know what they are saying? don't be comical.

all devices doesn't allow to fully drain those batteries. so only thing you have to do is to charge them fully before using again and draining again.

We are on the GH thread.
Where is your email from GH labs?

If they arizer have circuitry for this.... Doesn't mean all Vaporizers do.
You are making assumptions.

You know what they say.... "Don't assume or it makes an ass out of you and me"

Read all the documentation on the internet readily available on the matter.

all devices use LI-ION batteries, in all threads.

Arizer have implemented circuitry it seems.
Has GHL?

I won't argue about it anymore. It detracts form this thread.... I urge you to read up on I though.

Edit: I am happy to be corrected but so long as it's from a credible source. But my learnings on the matter support @Hawk
