Vapes on Planes - Traveling With Vaporizers

This has probably been said a million times already, but if not here goes:

1. Clean out your vape completely
2. Vape tobacco a few times
3. Fill the vape with fresh tobacco
4. Pack it in your checked luggage together with a bag of pipe tobacco next to it

If your luggage was inspected it would really require an extremely suspicious officer / police dog / warrant to get you in trouble for microscopic amounts of weed resin in your vape.

Thinking of putting my greenlight vapes portable H-enail and 1.5g in a box and shipping it to the hotel with some other birthday presents for my family.. Seems a lot "safer" than the risk of putting it in checked luggage. I thought about disassembling it and spreading it around my checked bag but I still feel like it may get confiscated. Only going on a domestic trip to Hawaii and honestly for $66 I can buy another off DHgate whenever. Seems like mailed over checked carries the least risk, yeah?

When I last flew (United) I noticed signs that said personal vaporizers are not permitted in carry-on OR checked luggage, though I'm unclear on if that is enforced or how rigorously.

I read that either in this thread or another, and well, that just kind of seals the deal. Not to mention the fact that the case and arrangement of the pieces looks suspicious.. fuck, if I were TSA I'd want to know what that is. Sending a package to a hotel isn't unheard of either; seems best to time package arrival with your own and you're good to go.

I plan on going out of the country sometime this year.....my plan is to bring a fully clean (read: unused) VapCap and a lighter. Or buy a lighter down there. And I'll just toss it when I'm done. For $30 that is the best option for me personally. I simply wouldn't bring my vapes if I had to fly out of town for business or something, but truth be told I haven't flown in years. Like pre 9/11. Just prefer driving but I also am never going that far away (12 hours longest trip). When I flew I was only like 9 or 10 to Florida. Vapes weren't on the mind :)

This was my plan as well, but torch lighters are banned from checked and carry on luggage. Traditional lighters do not work as well with the VC.

They are banned regardless if empty or full. See this link for all banned items.

Appreciate it, was initially even more confused as it says you can bring lighters, but then I saw "torch lighters"

That said, says right there vapes in Carry on :) So if it was clean I don't think it would be an issue for anyone.

I reckon I'd be able to pick up a cheap torch lighter somewhere anyways, but also was considering the Underdog as I have totally clean unused stems for it.

HellsWindStaff,
Hey, @macbill I'm heading to Cancun in a few months. I'm thinking about taking some of my homeade peg based ejuice with a subox mini setup. Let me know how it is going through customs when going to Mexico and when coming back through to the states. Overall I'm more worried about coming back.

I am in San Jose del Cabo, Southern Baja California, MX. I, too, worry about coming back. That's why I used pre-filled disposable O-pen style carts. I put them in a deck of cards. I also brought enough green to last my time here, and a E-nano. Something for inside and something for on the go. I put a couple Egos on a carry-on filled with my electronic garbage.

Going to: no worries. Coming home: I've been closely searched before (albeit, it was when I used to drink, and I was pretty wasted) so I seldom bring back. I'm too chicken. Coming home, they can find my E-nano, but they are not illegal. Nor is a mod. Coming home as long as you're carrying nothing but clean vapes, you're "Golden".

Team NO SLEEP!
I just got back from Cabo, brought concentrate and pre filled tanks from Cali... had a lot but still had to ration at the end.

Did not even consider trying to come back through with it, I was also not flying back through Cali and was not entering customs in a friendly state.

From the United Airlines Website:

Electronic cigarettes and personal vaporizers
Electronic cigarettes and personal vaporizers will not be accepted in checked or gate-checked baggage. These items may be stowed in carry-on baggage or on your person during travel, however, the use and charging of e-cigarettes and personal vaporizers is prohibited onboard all United flights and in United ClubSM locations.

I just took my Air on a business trip interstate with me. The stem was in my toiletries bag & I took the Air in my laptop bag with my laptop as per requirements. Security did not give it a 2nd look in any scans or xrays. I just kept some shatter in my pocket & strolled through everything. Security are not looking for drugs as I got pulled aside & swabbed twice & had hash in my pocket.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I am flying soon but am too fearful to bring any weed or vapes on the plane. I will just deal without.

My concern are bags and clothing that either had held weed or used vape equipment or clothing that was worn during vaping. Does vapor residue break down over time?

But if you are not bringing anything, they won't find anything should they look. I use the same suitcase for everything, and I've walked by a drug dog at San Diego customs at least twice and no probs. But I never carry product back into the states.
